I entered the noisy classroom as I feel butterflies in my stomach, my intuition tells me that this school year will be at least different. I sat beside an empty seat, as usual "they" fear me and disgusted by my presence. As the teacher comes in, it all went silent. She smiles and said "We have a new student." The class once again is chatty and noisy. "Settle down please I all know that you're looking forward on getting to know this particular person."
The new student came in, I look up from head to toe and my eyes widened from surprise.. 'It's that kid.. That odd one.' He smiles and introduces himself:
"Kairo Rizaro, I am new to this school and I just returned to this neighborhood, so please take care of me."
The girls gossip in excitement, the guys looking forward on playing with him. I scoffed, 'What's so special about him? He wants us to take care of him, how pathetic.'
"You may take your seat, Mr. Rizaro" She demanded, there were only two seats left, one was beside me and one was a grumpy introvert. I have already expected that he won't seat beside me. He walks towards the seat that isn't occupied beside me and sat.
'??? Huh? (O_o)??' I am left speechless and wonder why he's sitting right beside me. I look at him, others have look at me. The other girls gossiping once again while the other boys; "He's brave. He has balls."
The teacher stands up from her chair, she demands "Silence. I'll be giving you guys time on getting to know each other. I expect all of you to behave while I'm out. You can get to know your seatmate since you'll only be staying in your seat." She starts to walk away and exits the classroom, once everyone has heard the door slams, some stayed in their seats and some stands in front of each other's seat... And one of them is mine.
'Of course It'll be crowded and they wouldn't listen to the teacher anyways.' Rolling my eyes and staying silent as the group of kids questions the new kid.
"What's your name?" He ask me, not minding the other kids being noisy right in front of us. As he wears a friendly smile on his face and offers me a handshake.
I replied to him and said; "You really got some balls huh." Looking at him with my dull eyes.
"Pft." He snickers and replies "You're funny. I should really be friends with you." I scoff at him and then a shadow suddenly appear.
"By the way" A girl with blonde half braided hair and goes closer to Kairo and whisper in his ear; "You should start away from Scarlet, she might bully you and others will bully you." The others then looked at me, 'What's the use of whispering when I can hear what she says.' I just lay my head low, then suddenly...
"I find her quite interesting, friends bully friends, right? And I don't have to worry about people being different around me. And if you're just here spewing nonsense, you guys can leave. I want to get to know Scarlet more. I'd appreciate if there's privacy." He said it so bluntly and nonchalantly, right afterwards everyone went silent and the others looked speechless, then the others whispered and the girl with blonde and half braided hair which is Abbygale Lim, 'The girl who always approaches the new students and "warn" them about me. Sooner or later, Kairo will get fed up with being friends with me.'
Then the group of kids decided to leave us alone and runs towards their seat.
Kairo turn to look at me and poke my shoulder and asked; "Are you alright?"
I turn to look at him and reply; "I'm fine, I'm used to it. Whatever they say you can mind it and judge me for all I care. I'm just minding my own business."
He look at me pat my head and stroke my hair. He smiles and said; "Than I shall protect you and I'll be your friend, even if others will bother me. I don't want you to be bothered any longer. I won't leave just like the others, I am no coward. So If I'll be one, then... " He holds my hand and raise my pinky finger then he does the same then he does the same thing with his.
"I... Won't ever ever go near you nor won't be close to you ever again!!" He said it so childishly and yet adorably.. "Pinky promise!!!"
I just nodded then I mumble. "Promises are meant to be broken anyway..."
"Hm? What was that?" He raises his eyebrow
"N-Nothing.. I just said pinky promise."
'Let's just get this over with. Although I feel a bit guilty for doubting him... But that's just how it is. And I'm used to it.'
As the teacher comes in
Everyone in the whole room, went back to their own seats, As Kairo pays attention to the board, I look at him, I mumbled "You really are stubborn aren't you."
He turns and look at me "Sorry, what was that?" As he tilted his head
"Nothing." I quickly laid my eyes on the board, the teacher discusses leaving him questionable, he lets it slide anyway.

It's now lunch break and yet....'He's willingly to be in the same table as me, I don't know if this is a act of kindness or pity.' Munching silently until he has spoken
"I still haven't gotten your full name. " He looks at me, expecting
"Didn't you already heard from the teachers already?" I look at him as if he were jesting
"It's less interesting and I can be forgetful and it's more worth to hear if it's from you, I'll definitely remember your name." He said it calmly, as the sun shines in his face, with his hazel eyes and his smile brighter than others I've seen
".... Scarlet Swan." I then continue to munch my delicious homemade lunch, he then smiled later, the bell rings.
We walked to classes and as soon as we went back to our seats, I take out my sketchbook and while I was preparing, he takes a peek. 'I don't really mind or I could careless, but I can't help to think that he's a nosy kid or just curious. Whatever, just ignore him... He won't last anyway. But.. '
