Chapter 23 - Your Father will make you the greatest fisherman in the world!

Yu Yan opens his eyes after remembering all the words displayed and repeated by the system, immediately feeling a sharp pain.

Thump!

Because he was not used to the new strange body, this made him fall flat on his round bum, feeling the creaks and rough edges of the hard wooden floor.

At this moment, he was still occupied with the changes in the simulation trial that was supposedly his 'reward!'

"Ow!"

"Little Yan, are you alright?!" In front of him, a man dressed in shabby clothes that had several holes in them dashed directly at him.

Yu Yan can't help but twitches his lips as he sat on the floor, trying to adapt to the new sudden changes that happened, ignoring the man in front of him.

'System?' He inwardly muttered.

What follows was nothing, no response, it was as if he had just woken up from a dream, a very long dream at that, and this was his true, real life.

This causes him to curse the system even more.

Then, he felt a hand creeping toward his waist.

Thump. Thump.

He swiftly rolled his body by an inch or two, dodging the man's hand who he assumed is his 'father', creating a few more heavy thudding creaks.

"Ack!" He groaned, feeling the sprains in his young, infant body.

"Aiya, you can't let him roll around on the floor like that!" A soft, weak, and hoarse feminine voice came through the door, causing Yu Yan to lift his head.

"What if he falls and hits his head?" She roared, glaring at the middle-aged man.

Feeling embarrassed, he scratches his cheeks before puffing his chest and pat," Hit his head? Did you see that majestic movement of my little Yan? He was born to be a martial artist!"

"Martial artist? In your dream!" She jokingly sneered, then walked toward Yu Yan.

'Her steps are unstable, even her breath is ragged and disorganized, not to mention her pale sickly complexion, this is my sickly mother in this life?'' He could deduce this much due to the scenario briefed by the system.

Yu Yan blankly stared at the woman in front of him who wore a blue, simple linen dress. From the lines and weight of the cloth, he could tell it was quite loose for her fitting, which means her clothes are not meant for her size, or more accurately speaking, they were too poor to afford the right clothes.,

There were other things to note as well, such as the dirt on the clothes, the tiny holes that were barely noticeable unless you pay close attention, and much more.

"Yan'er, don't play with your father, come and play with your mother." She softly whisper a voice that was strangely soothing to Yu Yan's infant's ear.

Immediately, he felt a strange sensation from his chest.

'Is it because of this body's innate affinity toward her that causes me to feel this way?' He thought, and immediately discarded it aside to shake off that strange intimate sensation.

Then, he raised his tiny, round head to meet her eye, stared at it for two seconds, then plainly opened his mouth.

"No."

"..."

The couple is stunned hearing their child open his mouth.

They turn their head toward each other, letting out a strange gleaming stare," Is our child blessed by the heavens?"

Yu Yan wasn't sure who said it first, but it didn't matter.

The mission given by the system was more important, which involve fishing. This was a strange mission that felt out of place, but he didn't have much time to question it.

He felt like there is a clue in front of him.

"Father, do you fish?" He ignored the stunned couple and cutely squeaks, already knowing the answer.

"Fish?" His father, Yu-Hwang, pointed his finger at himself, and stammered," You mean fishing?"

"Yes!"

"You want to learn fishing?" He excitedly laughed.

"Yes father, I want to learn fishing!"

Seeing this, Yu Yan's mother, Hae-Won, shakes her head, unable to stop Yu-Hwang from luring Yu Yan into his life's profession.

At the same time, she is glad that Yu Yan showed interest in fishing which he hadn't before, on top of that, being a fisherman was definitely a better profession than being a martial artist.

She would rather have Yu Yan make a living being a fisherman and meets ends need than fight with his life as a martial artist for the so-called 'fame' and 'wealth'.

But Yu Yan had different thoughts in mind and remembered the system's message.

[Special Mission: Answer the question: What do you fish for if you don't know what fish you're trying to catch?"]

'If you don't know what fish you are trying to catch fishing, then why fish at all? Isn't it easier to look into the ponds and rivers to see which fish are in them, then know what fish will bite?'

Yu Yan tried giving countless answers, but none seems to be what it is looking for.

Then he remembered the scenario.

He was born into a family whose father is a fisherman, and the mission is also related to fishing, Yu Yan guessed that this is a clue from the system, thus he took his chances.

But at the thought of the duration of the mission, he flinched.

'If the duration of the mission is a lifetime, then, if I cultivate and increase my lifespan, doesn't that mean I have even more time to complete the mission?'

Following that train of thought, he can't wait to find time away from his father and mother in order to cultivate.

"Little Yan, wait here with your mother, I will go grab the tools from the back!" He enthusiastically clamored, stomping his feet on the hard, creaking wood floor as he ran past Hae-Won.

Seeing his excitement, she raised her index finger to cover her lips with a chuckle.

Not long after Yu Yan's father ran off, he came back, fully geared.

'This man... is he really my father?' Yu Yan commented, helpless at Yu-Hwang ridiculous sight.

He was dressed in a grayish, long sleeve shirt with a very traditional style of fitting that is extra wide at the ends of the sleeve.

What was funny is that his 'fishing' rod was just a wood branch, it looked like he found it in the backyard of someone's house and hung a string on it, calling it a 'fishing rod'.

There were two sets of it, hoisted on his right side, then on his left, are two small bamboo baskets used to hold water in a common household.

Yu Yan look at his mother, then saw a slight smile that indicate that this is really his fishing set-up!

"Let's go, son, we will fish and have a bountiful harvest today with your blessing!"

"I will make you the greatest fisherman in the world!"
