Chapter 50 - Last Humans (3)

Left with no choice they again began searching for any of the main characters after putting on all the heavy things they could find.

The wind outside was crazy and people were sent flying every now and then but no one got severely injured yet.

After surviving for quite some time, they went down the subway and found many people gathered there. These poor people thought that going away could stop their predicament but bit were they wrong.

Philip's eyes brightened when he saw the train and pushed his way in, also dragging Jeffrey along with him.

After they entered the wind started moving in reverse and the remaining people were sucked out to the surface. Even children were not spared.

The atmosphere inside the bus was gloomy and some started praying in their religion while the others probably didn't have one.

Philip then started moving in the left direction secretly checking out the faces of everyone. Later he found who he was looking for, a young man with short brown hair.

Just to be sure he called out a name. "Mateo?"

The young man turned back and saw a stranger waving at him. "Do I know you?"

Philip stopped to think. 'This guy's mother died a few days ago after not receiving help from any of his relatives so posing as his relative was a terrible idea...I got it

He turned to Philip with a confident smile. "We're your relatives...from the future"

"What?" Mateo stared at him from head to toe and decided he was crazy.

"Yeah, Philip...what?" Jeffrey stared at him in disbelief that such an excuse came from his lip.

"Forgive my friend, we've heard of you before so we came to see you" Jeffrey explained although he found it weird to be explained to the character in a book.

His thoughts were still on how Evie's book could have such a dimension, it was like the others were not powerful enough to hold their presence but here they had to even go looking for the main characters.

If he was to guess then...the thoughts put inside the book weren't ordinary at all but how did she accomplish it?

Mateo did not say anything and started looking elsewhere.

When they got to the next stop, the con edition of the place was far worse than where they were coming from. Limbs from unidentified people were scattered and they both felt their insides turn.

The dead bodies and broken buildings eventually formed a trail leading to something Philip feared would go on another round.

As most of the buildings were ruined, one would be courting death to take shelter there.

It had been so long and Jeffrey still did not feel any fluctuations in this dimension. He already warned Jeffrey not to interfere with the decisions of the main character or the dimension might crumble.

So they left everything for Mateo to decide. The main characters each have something that set them apart from others and even though they are portrayed to be normal like everyone else... there's always a difference even if it is small.

According to Evie, Mateo as a character was mostly lucky so his choice of shelter had an underground structure underneath.

It might have been a bit farfetched but anything that doesn't affect the dimension goes. That was Jeffrey's conclusion.

Meanwhile, Zakhir still couldn't find Jefrey or Philip and decided to change back. Evie also regained consciousness after that and thought she was hallucinating before.

Zakhir did not clarify her confusion and Evie still had doubts since she was still in this place instead of her room.

She had read about authors entering their own novels and because they are aware of what will happen, they enjoy the benefit of knowing the future.

Had she also become like them? But her knowledge wasn't that much help here since all she had to do was survive till the end.

"How long has this been going on?" she asked Zakhir with a thoughtful expression.

Zakhir shrugged while Evie sighed then she turned to the sky. She wasn't able to tell how long she was unconscious or she would have been sure.

And as she expected, the clouds were starting to clear which meant the end of this disaster and the beginning of a new one.

Many others saw that the sky had cleared up and they all sighed in relief but the next moment they despaired again.

Huge noises were coming from the depth of the earth...the next moment the ground cracked open and many humans and buildings were swallowed up.

Screams and cries filled the air and the slightly agile people used the falling buildings as their footstools, jumping and running to survive the impending disaster.

You could even see some mothers forced to separate from their children while most just gave them up for a chance of survival.

Evie watched the whole scene and her heart was in turmoil. She wrote this...she made this place undergo such a disaster but she never imagined it to become real. She felt extremely guilty and clenched her fist.

Zakhir turned to her and saw her distress. "Don't interfere with anything or there will be serious consequences"

"Really, how bad can it be, look at this place, the ground might open up under our feet at any time" Evie said sadly.

Zakhir did not explain anymore and walked a considerable distance away from her. Although Rvie could not tell what he was up to, she did not feel like he was going to leave her behind so she started at him with a raised eyebrow.

She saw how Zakhir transformed from a human to a majestic dragon and rubbed her eye in doubt whether her eyes were still working properly.

It turned out she wasn't imagining things before, she did see a dragon. But how did he transform though? Was it due to the effect of this world or was he a dragon in real life?

The thought made her feel stupid but then another question came to her mind. How did he even get here?
