Chapter 14 - Classmates

Jeffrey eventually read the first five dreams before going to bed. The first dream was by far the simplest, the second dream was about saving a girl from the belly of a mutated worm and it would've been a bit better if he did not have to save her in two hours and that too without killing the worn, it was dangerous as it was gross.

The next morning Jeffrey woke up tired and he made a mental note to always eat after traversing into a novel. It was draining him quite a lot and he did not like it.

May was on every day a blabber mouth but today she turned into a chatterbox that might be running without a battery.

"How do you think she's like, will she be like those prideful kids from rich families or will she be kind and noble? I bet she's gorgeous though, maybe we'll even turn out to be best friends"

Jeffrey opened his mouth to say something but he shut it back, it was better not to worsen the situation.

After they entered the classroom, Jeffrey scanned the place until his eyes landed on a blonde-haired girl with a small round face. She was clutching her bag with her head hung low.

"There she is" May whispered excitedly to Jeffrey.

Even Jeffery was a bit excited so he followed her obediently as she walked toward Evie.

"Hi"

* * *

Evie was already having a bad day and she was regretting coming to class so early. 'Am I realized that bad that I can't even earn a hello from them?' she thought with a dejected sigh.

"Hi" she suddenly heard someone say and raised her head. Two kids were standing in front of her, a boy and a girl. The girl was smiling widely and Evie had seen a fair share of fake smiles to tell this one was genuine and the boy at the back only nodded. Was that supposed to be a greeting? still, she immediately wore a smile and waved.

She had done it a lot of times so you could say she was a pretty good actress herself, it only took a second to enter the role. "Nice to meet you"

"Are you testing us?" the boy suddenly asked and Evie tilted her head in confusion she could not understand what he was implying.

* * *

Jeffrey noticed Evie's expression suddenly change and frowned. 'Is she that paranoid'

"Are you testing us?"

Evie was rendered speechless, it took a couple of seconds for her to recognize that Jeffrey must have noticed her act.

May turned to Jeffrey and then Evie, the two were strangely staring at each other and she couldn't understand.

"I'm disappointed by our first meeting but if you want to start afresh with less amateur acting then my name is Jeffrey" Jeffrey said before walking to his seat. The class was going to start soon anyway so he did not want to have a lengthy conversation.

"Don't mind him, he's always like that, my name is May and you're Evie, Evie Lake...I'm so happy to be your classmate" May smiled before also walking away.

Evie's gaze was mostly on Jeffrey before the teacher came. After introducing herself she received a good amount of claps and waves and it made her a bit more comfortable.

Before the end of the day, she received an introduction from every member of the class. She only noticed a negligible number of people who were fake and happy. Her mood was elevated after making her calculations.

The Writers Dimension was way better than the Entertainment Dimension, she had a strong belief that half of the latter's population was composed of liars. Especially in Fiddle City which had 80% of actors and actresses living inside it.

While Evie had her mood on the high, Jeffrey's mood had hit rock bottom, it was so bad he ended up snapping at May a few times.

Today's assignment was to write a poem under a particular topic assigned to you. Jeffrey had gotten the topic Sun and felt like the universe was mocking him. On a norm he hated poems and now he had to write about the stupid name given to him.

Many could not understand why he was upset by May was laughing at his expense and did not even mind being snapped at a few times.

Jeffrey knew he couldn't drop poems even if he wanted to. He was going to offer all the courses until he reached fifteen only then will you choose your path and become verified.

"May I seat here?" Jeffrey was jolted back to reality after he heard Evie's voice.

"Of course" May replied making space for Evie on her bench. She was arranging her bag, they were going to leave in a minute or two.

Seeing that Jeffrey did not pay her any attention she cleared her throat. "Sorry about earlier I don't get a lot of people who come to me with good intentions"

"Then probe discretely" Jeffrey replied with a shrug.

"What are you two even talking about?" May asked, she did not like being excluded from the gist.

"Nothing you can understand," Jeffrey said and Evie chuckled while May shot him a glare.

"Can you not embarrass me?"

"I'll try my best not to speak the truth"

May let out a frustrated groan before turning away from him.

Evie wanted to strike up a conversation but she saw Jude from afar. "Sorry, gotta go now" she stood up and then left.

"She is so..." May paused and Jeffrey raised a brow.

"So what?"

"Normal, she's so normal, doesn't act like the daughter of a celebrity at all," May said while holding her chin.

Jeffrey almost laughed at her attempt to look smart but limited himself to a twitch on his lips.

"How should she act like?"

"I don't know, I just feel like she's a bit different, come on you think the same right?"

"No, I don't, I just believe that she has a lot going through her...she has low self-esteem"

May stared at Jeffrey surprised but did not straight away think he was talking bullshit, there must have been a reason why he came to such a conclusion.
