Chapter 7 - Entering A Novel

Jeffrey regained consciousness in a strange place. He was standing in the center of a lush green field far away from civilization it seemed. And for the first time in a long time, he was shocked, he had been sitting in his room just a while ago, how did he appear here all of a sudden? He wasn't retarded enough to think he was dreaming.

While still in thought he heard voices from behind him. He turned and saw two girls or females their long ears gave away the fact that they were not humans, they were elves.

Jeffrey's eyes widened as he finally figured out what was going on. It couldn't be a coincidence that he was reading Little-Chibi's book and suddenly he appeared in the land of elves.

"Excuse me!" Jeffery called out,his voice audible enough to be heard from a mile away but the girls couldn't hear him.

With a thoughtful expression, he walked closer to the girls and tried to pat the younger one on her shoulder but unexpectedly or expectedly his hand went through her. Jeffrey nodded as now he had a better understanding of the situation he was in.

He had gotten pulled into Chibi's book somehow. 'Fascinating' Jeffrey mused. That book he received from the unknown man must have been special, there was no other explanation he could think of.

After organizing his thoughts, he focused on the conversation between the two girls.

"Dad still doesn't let you call off the engagement huh?" the younger one asked in a sad tone.

"Don't poke your nose in things you shouldn't" the older said, dismissing the topic before it could even begin.

Jeffrey studied their facial features and concluded that the younger girl was Nala but he couldn't understand where this story was starting. Chibi's book started after Nala's reincarnation and she was about I9 or 20 years old. But now he was seeing a Nala in her teens which were odd.

If he entered the book somehow then where was the story starting from, how can Nala be young now? Jeffrey had a lot of questions but there was no one to answer them so he remained silent and observed everything.

After listening to their conversation for a while, Jeffrey was able to make out a little bit of information. Nala's elder sister Nalu was the victim of an arranged marriage that was said to bring peace between the two villages and today they had both left very early because Nalu was feeling choked up discussing about the marriage.

Hours later, they ended their picnic and went back home. The scene in front of Jeffrey suddenly changed to one where Nalu was sitting on the bed crying and Nala was holding a dagger in her shivering hands.

Jeffrey frowned, something terrible must have happened and he was curious.

"How dare he!!!" Nala suddenly screamed, her eyes bloodshot.

With her action, Jeffrey guessed that Nalu must have been defiled by her fiance. You couldn't blame him for noticing it so fast, that occurrence was pretty common in a lot of romance novels but the problem was non of this was written in Chibi's book so why was he seeing them? No matter from which point he looked at it, the situation was weird.

Jeffrey watched how Nala eventually managed to pacify Nalu and the latter stopped crying. Again the scene shifted to Nala standing in front of her sister's bloodied and dead body. She had a calm expression on her face but her eyes were cold enough to freeze someone, there was pain, anger and dissatisfaction.

Jeffrey looked around and they seemed to be on top of an altar with five raised pillars. He also found seven or eight other bodies lying around with arrows sticking out of different parts, only then did he notice that Nala was holding a bow with no arrow. Despite thinking for more than two minutes he couldn't understand what this scene was about.

Scene one again changed and this time he was in a hall where a meeting was going on. Nala suddenly barged in without regard for the elderly men speaking.

"I want to fight" her tone was firm, having no room for negotiation.

"Absolutely not" a middle-aged man with a white beard said and Nala frowned.

"I am talking to my father" Nala said in a cold tone, looking directly into the man's eyes.

"Nala you can't go, I've already lost Nalu, I can't lose you too" and the man who seemed to be her father sighed.

"You have no right to mention her name!" Nala shouted, radiating killing intent that made all the men hold their breath. "You let her die, she didn't want to get married, you knew but still you let them get married even after that bastard raped your daughter. Now that she has been used as a sacrifice for that bloody bastard to grow stronger you think you can consider her a daughter. No, she ceased being your daughter the day you married her off. And I'm not asking for permission, I am telling you that I'll fight" Nala left without turning back, leaving everyone stunned, including Jeffrey.

Before he could make heads or tails of what happened, the scene changed again. Finally, it was a scene after Nala's reincarnation, she looked confused and lost, her eyes devoid of emotion.

"So in the end, I couldn't even kill him before I died" she muttered under her breath.

Jeffrey frowned. "It's not the same" he said to himself, only now did he understand why he was shown Nala's life before her reincarnation, Little-Chibi was making a mistake. He was not given time to think about it much before he returned to his body.
