"Mama look at me! Look what I can do!" I was so excited to show her what I'd done.
My mother turned towards me, clear fear in her eyes as I lifted our car above my head. She had every right to because no three year old should be able to do that. She ran over to me, carefully ushering me to put the car down.
"Nia…baby?! Please put the car down ok? Can you do that for mommy? Please ." She was begging me but I just thought it was a funny game. Why wasn't she laughing at my game? She looked from me to the car and back again as I put it down, a frown on my little face.
"Mommy, why don't you like what I did? Are you scared of me?" I asked so innocently.
"No baby." She lied to me. Parents tell lies to their children so that they can sleep peacefully at night, or whatever other bullshit reason they wanna give you.
