Chapter 46 - Spotted?

Cyra had completely forgotten about her fight with Noah and was in the zone as she moved through the dense vegetation.

She had the advantage thatbher powers were related to wind manipulation and she could use the tree tops to make her way toward her target without making noise.

If not she wasn't able to be stealthy enough to take down so many monsters on her way here. She took the same route knowing there would be no monster to pester her.

It didn't take her long to reach the enemy position. She was still hundred feet away from them hiding in the top with weapon in hand.

That's right, she decided to bring one of Noah's rifles and had asked Cody to show her the ropes. After few shots she got the hang of it.

As someone who had full control of her body, it wasn't hard to learn how to fire the gun. One only had to anticipate the loud bang but the actual technique was very simple. Still Cody did warn her about the safety in as stern voice as he could muster in front of her.

With the scope she could see more details. The army was massive atleast twice as size but the most scary thing was the black long neck weapons which were carried by fifty men. There were four of such weapons.

She did hear how Alistair, Mera's father got heavily injured by it. That single weapon made both him and her master retreat and led them to suffer many casualities.

Just thinking about it needing fifty strong men to push it up the mountain was enough to gauze it's weight but the effectiveness of the roaring weapon outweighed the cost of labour.

As Noah warned her, they were in fact moving in the direction of the Village was taking the route of the narrow valley where their base was.

The structure of the march told her the perso. leading at the front was in charge. She had never seen him before but they were wearing same knight outfit but what's bugging her was there were two more people walking next to him who looked just as menacing.

One of them wore attire similar to the rest of the soldiers. A dark red armour inlaid with leather tightly wrapped around their bodies leavin only their head and feet which had other protective helmets, round in shape probably made out of metal but the craftsmanship was very crude.

She looked at the rifle in her hand and their long shooter weapons, there was a stark difference but she had heard that both weapons worked the same firing a projectile strong enough to penetrate armours.

Despite the similarities, she didn't understand why the Elders and the Chief of the village decided to label Noah a traitor. Maybe he was really hiding his identity and these things might come from same place but it wasn't his fault to begin with.

Maybe he belong to a different faction and they were fighting which was why he took a refuge on this island. After all, wars were too common in this world and she had seen enough after venturing the world with her master.

From villager's description, their weapons didn't have the ability to fire rapidly like Noah's which was also strange not to mention, Noah's magic ability was something she had never seen before. Maybe he summoned superior weapons from their place which implicated him?

Either way, she was more certain that he was innocent after seeing the enemy with her own eyes.

As she was too lost in thought which made her forget about the people that Noah warned her about. She was still gazing through the scope as they were getting further away from her position when she noticed aming the three leading the pack, one of them turned back looked directly in her direction.

She was shocked, the man was covering his face with a hood and she couldn't see his face but from his build and his clothes, he looked different from every other person. Her clothes and armour were esthetically designed for speed which was easier for her to recognise as she too was a stealth sorcerer.

She stayed still lowering herself while still looking at the person with the scope only to see the other party disappear from his position.

" Shit!" She knew her cover was blown so without thinking about it she retreated after putting her rifle away, changing her position within seconds.

It was pointless to look back, she used all her elemental magic to propel her further and further away from her position while taking a zig zag route to confuse any pursuers.

After couple of minutes, she found a perfect hiding spot, a large indent in the tree truck that her slender body could pass through. She didn't hesitate and squeezed through the crack positioning herself that she could keep an eye outside if someone did got close.

Cyra might not know it but she made two major mistake. First was obvious, that was too underestimate her enemies and getting close enough that they could detect her.

Her master had taught her about various type of sorcerer, some capable of locating abilities with their power which was very useful during a battlefield. Fortunately for her that's not what alerted her enemies, it was the scope flare as she moved her rifle around which acted a blatant signal for those that were paying attention to their surroundings.

It was common among snipers to find ways and even calculate the angle of their weapon contrary to the sunlight to minimise such things from happening.

Cyra, a newbie shouldn't be able to know this which became her fatal mistake. At third, she channelled her magic powers giving clear sign that whoever was spying on them was a fellow sorcerer.

From that distance, she could have gotten away if she was fast enough but she relied heavily on her power which alerted the 'dangerous' individuals that Noah warned her about.

Now the question was, if they would be able to track her or she would be able to get away without engaging with them.
