Noah knew he was waking up as similar thing happened only few days earlier. Not knowing where he was, he jolted up hitting Mera on the forehead.
" Ouch! "He wailed in pain from pain all over his body His old injuries coupled with his new one made him feel like his body was tearing into million pieces!
" What the fuck are you doing?" She exclaimed. He looked around to see everyone was looking at him.
He can see he is in the same room, Mera's clinic where he had been lying for three days. He could see other patients lying in there but the view was blocked by Mera who was holding her head and Alastair angrily looking at him probably because he hurt his daughter.
" I am sorry. I didn't mean to...I thought we were still in the battlefield. Fuck!" He tried to move his right arm but it wobbled around. He could tell that it was broken. His left arm seemed fairly intact but it was hard to move that too.
" They ran away. It was partly thanks to you." Alastair stated. He didn't feel like going into detail because Noah needed rest.
" Don't move. It's only been couple of hours since I treated you. It's a miracle that you survived much less gained consciousness so soon." Mera began inspecting his body. He seemed stable on surface without high fever which was common symptom if one were to caught an infection.
They didn't have any concept of it but still she was aware that high temperature of patients meant they were in bad state.
" Good, I don't want to be tied to bed for days again." Noah could tell he was healing much faster than earlier. Maybe because he got treated faster and didn't have to climb a freaking mountain for treatment!
" Yeah? If you are so worried about it you shouldn't have played the hero and tried to get peppered by a hail of arrows. I get that every man has a power fantasy of rescuing a damsel in distress but you have to think about yourself for once." Mera was not happy with his nonchalant attitude.
" Are you jealous?" He chuckled trying to make a joke but Alastair immediately asked," Don't tell me you are worried about him!?" He was horrified like his worst nightmares were coming true! They just repelled her suitor, he didn't know there was another one inside the village!
"What? No! Why would I worry about a bastard like him!? Others could have him, I don't care." She vehemently denied it but her light blushing face told a different story. Even Tang was giving her a knowing smile.
" That's it! If you got hurt again, I will not treat you for free! I will charge...five big gold coins! Yes! That's an appropriate amount for my services!" She tried hard to get out of the dilemma.
" Gold coins?" It was Noah's first time hearing about the currency of this place. As a outsider, shouldn't he be given such valuable knowledge from his so called companion? But Nova was nowhere to be seen!
" As I suspected. You are not from around here are you?" Suddenly a wispy old voice interrupted their conversation. Noah looked to the side to see an old man wearing robe standing there just curiously looking at him.
Currently, He wasn't covering his head despite that Noah instantly knew his identity : The Flame Emperor. His face was covered with gray beard as he reminded him of a certain character from the famous children book. The infamous headmaster of hogwarts!
" What? You never seen an old man before?"
" I am sorry for staring. Thank you for saving everyone on that wall." Noah could tell looking into his clear eyes which was beaming with wisdom of thousand souls that he was not someone to be messed with.
He had a proud expression and despite being god knows how old, he stood upright while he stoked his beard without any smile on his face.
" Huh? You are totally different from the arrogant young man who dared to challenge me." He broke a smirk before continuing," Still you saved my pupil which I can't thank you enough but you still haven't answered my question. Where did you come from?"
Noah felt a little nervous. He didn't know how capable these sorcerers were, he had seen Mera do miraculous things but no one in this village was able to tell that he was an outsider. He didn't know whether he should tell him the truth in fear of being perceived as a lunatic or worse being caught up in some weird rule.
He was not a smart person but from his experience it was better to keep his mouth shut than to spew his secret in front of a former enemy.
