" Don't look so down. My old bones are not for show; I will carry you." Alastair offered.
" It's fine; if I need help, I will ask for your help, but I don't want you carrying my stuff." Noah gave him the bright orange bag. The old man hesitated for a second but took it, and they both started to move.
" He seems to have something on his mind, but I don't blame him. Anyone will be surprised to see things pop out of thin air." The ball of light remembered to make a snide comment.
" Can't you shut up for a second? If I have an off switch, your smart ass, I would have taped it to ensure you never speak out of line." Noah snapped back.
" Did you say something, young man?"
" No, I was talking out loud. By the way, I forgot to introduce myself; you can call me Noah Zimmerman."
" I understand if you don't want to tell me about it. Most of the sorcerers are eccentric by nature." Alastair kept walking downwards. He knew about the unsaid rule when it came to people with abilities.
" I am not crazy; it's an acquired habit. , Besides, I don't even know what a sorcerer is."
" Were you a sheltered child? You also have a strange surname that I never heard about. The existence of sorcerers is common knowledge that everyone knows about." Alastair was surprised. At first, he thought that Noah came from nobility, but he knew most of the prominent ones because the island didn't have a large landmass. It was massive but nothing compared to their neighboring countries.
" You know that we are conversing through telepathy, right? Even though I don't want to help, I feel a little sorry for you. I am pretty sure the old man thinks you are crazy!"
" Just shut up for one second; wait, if this is a different world, how am I speaking their language."
" Don't strain your tiny brain; it will overload."
" Fuck you."
" Young man, are you alright?" Alastair turned back to see him making strange faces, looking at empty air. He was not sure anymore if Noah was not entirely crazy; he had met few sorcerers in life, but Noah had to be the strangest of them all!
" I am fine; just treat me as an ignorant person who doesn't know much about anything. Can you tell me more about this place?"
" This country?"
" No, everything; we have a long journey in front of us, right? If you don't mind, tell me everything." Noah said with feverish eyes. Alastair suspicion was confirmed; he was definitely mental! If it were up to him, he would leave Noah alone, but the young man saved his life. He could act a fool as a way to repay the strange young man.
" Ask me anything; wait, there are a lot of rocks here. Hop on my back for a second; I will try to be gentle."
Noah didn't know if the old man was playing with him or if he really phrased it this way. He decided it was best to ignore it; he shouldn't fight with a senile old man. With a pained expression, he used one of the clutches as a pivot to barely get on top of the old man.
He thought Alastair would struggle, but he lifted him like a ragdoll and started carrying him. Noah could feel his stiff muscles against his chest and knew that the old man didn't lie about his military background.
He cursed for a second; he couldn't believe he just complimented an old man on his physique. It sounded fishy as hell.
" There is no need to shy away from your true self! It could be a better choice, seeing that you are helpless young-"
" Fuck you!"
" You can ask now."
" Are you good? I am heavy, right?" Noah asked, seeing the steep crossing that stretched for a good mile. With rocks as pavement, it looked dangerous for anyone carrying someone of his size for an extended period.
"Haha, it's fine. I have carried plenty of comrades when I was in the infantry. Ask what do you want to know?" The old man's breadth was stable, contrary to what Noah expected.
" Tell me about this world. Do you know any stories regarding it?" Noah was direct; it was a little strange with how he was phrasing it. Any average person would follow up with, 'What do you mean by this world?' but Alastair had already made up his mind. He was going to play along with it, for Noah's sake.
" There are plenty of stories, but those are considered myths and legends, so I can't say anything about the validity of it."
" That's alright; I still want to hear about it."
" In the beginning, there was nothing in this world. No matter where one looks, they will find barren earth and sand dunes. It isn't told why the world why this way, but it's the premise of the story like my mother told me." Alastair was honestly embarrassed to tell a kid's story to a grown man and wanted to stop because it was making him look silly.
" Alright." But Noah gave a serious reply, giving a go-ahead sign to continue.
" The whole world was burning hot because there was not a single tree or big rock that could be seen anywhere. People could walk for years and not know where they are headed; in this case, no people or anything were living residing in this world."
" Is this world round by any chance?" Noah asked, just in case he had seen enough to question everything surrounding him.
" Of course it is; you don't even know that?" Alastair was a little angry because he was not sure if Noah was messing with him or not asking stupid questions.
" No, just wanted to confirm." Noah was embarrassed.
" Hahaha, you should see your faces! This is too funny; I can't believe I almost missed out on this!" The entity couldn't stop its mechanical laughter. What's more, it was still using a weird Japanese accent, and Noah was sure it was just to mess with him!
" Are you serious?"
" I am sorry. Please continue."
