I stay in front of the pack house as I checked my surrounding for any possible movement
I didn't like the idea of staying here but if that was what dad wanted then of course I had to it.

Hours later, My eyes were getting heavy and I was starting to feel sleepy. but I couldn't as i could hear strange noises coming from the woods. The next minute, dad..his beta and few other men were bolting to the infirmary and dad was holding unto something,
Perhaps A person ? Was someone injured ?
And my instinct kicked in as I decided to go see what happened.
I was about to run after them but a strong hand was holding me back.
"Stay put " he shouted in his baritone voice
As he held me by the shoulder stopping me in my track.
He was the bodyguard dad assigned to stay with me.
He didn't trust me enough not to come after him. ' not like I was going to anyway. It was the alpha's orders, I wasn't that stupid to defile that!'
< what's happening over there ? > I asked my beta Theo through the link
< your dad brought in a human > he answered
< why? > I asked again trying to figure out what was happening
< no idea > he answered nonchalantly
A human ? Humans were not allowed on pack land and he knows that.
What was dad thinking ?
He couldn't possibly be risking our safety..
I decided to ignore it but then the smell hit me
Mate ! My wolf beamed
He's been locked up inside and suddenly he's back ?
That forbidden word we had chosen not to mention. I felt the adrenaline rush within me.
Mate? My mate was here ?
I start to follow the scent but the bulky man held onto me.
I wiggled away from his grasp as I bolted away following my mates scent.
I wasn't going to lose this opportunity of finding my mate.
It leads me towards the infirmary and i see Theo at the door guarding it.
"You can't be here " he said looking at me with tired filled eyes, his brows raised as he tried to elicit an answer from me. he has a pointed look on his face , But I pay him no heed as I pushed past him and into the room.
I head in and am drawn towards her..her torn clothes and her bloody coated appearance.
'Mate ! Mate is hurt' my wolf cried out
And I start to cry too.
My dad looked at me trying to figure out what was wrong with me. But I pushed him away trying to get to my mate . I knelt in front of her holding those bloody pale hands of hers as I start shaking her repeatedly in an attempt to wake her up. but there was no movement,
Was she dead?
" you can't do that ! I need to check her vitals " Nurse Greene shouted immediately she came. and I breathed out in relief knowing my mate was still alive but I still didn't let go.
She kept yelling for me to leave so she could do her job but I didn't listen,
I wouldn't let anyone touch her.
" get him away! " I hear my father bark out the order and in less than a second two men were behind me, keeping me away from my mate!
I looked towards my dad shouting and kicking
"What did you do to her! She's my mate! I swear I'll kill you if any harm comes to her. " I shouted looking at my dad with a threatened face.
The word mate was enough to shock everyone as they all looked wide eyed at me.
Theo was already inside looking at me too.
"Mate ? " He questioned looking from her to me.
Dad was shocked and then he looked angry.
" Lucas you have to calm down " he said in a calm tone contrary to his expression.
" No ! What did you do to her! ? " I shouted.
" let's talk about this later, you can take him away " he said looking at me stoically and I couldn't quite decipher him as I allowed myself to be carried away.
There was nothing I could do for her.
Nothing I could do for my mate.
I am so useless ! I thought mentally beating up myself.
If only I had found her sooner none of this would've happened.
