Chapter 1 - Chapter one

I awoke to the sound of a knock on the door, "Time to wake up, all maids must get dressed now and begin their day" said The Waker. Every day The Waker wakes all of the seamstresses and the maids to get ready so that when we are needed we will already be presentable.

I got up and filled the bathing barrel with water, I stripped and began getting into the warm water, I used my hands to scoop up the water, I washed my hair and my body. I got out and wrapped my body with a towel and brushed out my hair and put on my clothes.

I went to the garden to think about the ball in a month. I would have to make an outfit for the prince. What should I make for him? My thoughts were coming and going fast. I cleared my mind for a second and took the time to look around. It was a beautiful view.

The birds flew across the light blue sky. The chime rhythms could send a baby to sleep. The peaceful blue sky making the flush red roses pop out like a swore thumb. The green land so calm and quite, you could hear the waves in the far east niall. The nude yellow daisies blooming like a baby's first smile. My train of thoughts could drift off. I could prance from cloud to cloud, never having the fear of falling.

"Lilly, the prince wishes to see you in his dressing room" said Draven, Draven was a very loyal guard, and what always seemed like a godfather to the prince. He wore a suit I could only see a groom wear, he had smooth brown hair, he was maybe in his sixties. He had a charming warm smile, one that was unforgettable. "I will be their right away, did he damage his clothes in training again?" I asked with a playful chuckle, "I'm not sure, he did say it was urgent so it's less likely to be damaged clothing" Draven said, exchanging a smile to me. "If it's as urgent as it sounds I should get there immediately '' I say heading towards the castle's gates.

I went straight to the dressing room, my hair in a messy bun, the small light brown strands of hair smoothly fallen out on the sides of the bun. My dress was nicer then a maids but not as nice as a nobles. I never cared about my appearance around the prince, but when I'm around the king and queen looks are very important. I entered the dressing room locking the door behind me.

I noticed the light was off. It was oddly very quite, as if I could hear my thoughts echo through on the walls. I place my hands on the wall next to the door and search for the light switch, after a few seconds I touched the tip of the switch I was just about to turn on the light when a cold hand grabbed my wrist restraining me from turning on the light. My body was in shock, I could feel a warmth all around me as if I had been caught doing something I wasn't supposed to. "Roy? Is that you? Draven told me you needed to see me urgently" I said in a stern but shaky voice.

I felt his grip on my wrist lessen. "Sorry I thought you were someone else" says Roy letting go of my wrist completely. I turn on the light and gaze into Roy's midnight eyes, I could tell he was worried. "What's wrong? You look very worried" I say as I try to forage comforting smile. "My dad and I got into a fight and now he wants me to have dinner with Mrs Alison, and the rest of her family. We will be dinning here. He said I need to dress properly. This time it was a serious fight. I don't know what to do. I can't go to dinner with Mrs Alison" Roy said looking more frustrated with every word.

"Why can't you have dinner with Mrs Alison? She is a kind woman" I say with a curious tone. Roy looked at me hesitant, "Because I don't like her, I like someone else. My father is trying to set me up with her, that's why we got into this fight because I refused to go, but either way I have to go, I can't avoid a dinner in my own home" I could feel Roy's anxiety, it was beyond overwhelming. "You should tell your father, you can't escape this dinner but maybe you could explain this to him" I say sounding as cheerful as I could. Roy put his arms around me and hugged me gently.

"My father wouldn't understand. Your the only one who understands me, your the only one who listens. My father isn't gonna care. He would never approve of the woman I love" Roy said gently leaning his head on my shoulder I could feel his warm breath against my neck. "I should begin making your clothes" I say awkwardly hugging him back.

"Can I get some measurements?" I say smiling.

I took Roy's measurements and began to design the details onto a sheet of paper after placing his measurements on the back of the page, I drew out the design and showed it to Roy, "That's perfect" Roy says smiling. I began to smoothen out the fabrics and apply the illustrations on each of them. After a few hours I had finished the outfit and begged him to try it on.
