Chapter 1 - Pilot

"Arise, arise my zombies and ghouls!" Mei exclaimed as a dozen hands rose from the ground around her, "Yes, yes, yes! I did it!" She cheered.

"And the Bronze Lynx saves the day yet again!" The news anchor exclaimed, "I mean look at those moves!"

Mei heaved a sigh and shut off the TV, "Ma!" She yelled out, "He's on the TV again!" She complained.

Mei shuffled around before the front door swung open. Turning around and looking, she saw her father- better known as the Bronze Lynx- taking off his mask and heaving a sigh, "Phew, what a day, I'm beat,"

Mei's mother came out to greet him, giving him a kiss and a pat on the head. Mei faked a gag and turned away, "Gross,"

Her parents continued to be lovey-dovey behind her- in the most distracting way possible, so, as any respectful child would- she stood to leave, but as she did so, her father stopped her.

"Mei, can I speak with you?" He said. His voice was low as ever, but something about his tone sounded more serious than he usually was.

Mei stared at her father for a moment before nodding, "Sure, what's up?"

Mei's father motioned for her to follow him upstairs, to which she complied. Her father led her to his study room and lowered his voice even further, "Mei- When school starts back up- please make sure to hide your powers… Even among supers…"

"Yeah, yeah… Showing off super strength scares people, running at sub-light speed confuses people, falling from ridiculous heights may be impressive, but it attracts attention, and raising the dead ain't exactly a good idea if I wanna be popular," Mei responded, "I get it, dad, I know,"

Mei's father sighed, "Good, good, I just want you to live a normal, peaceful life," He said, "I don't mean to be harsh,"

Mei's father patted her shoulder before he spoke again, "Now, get some rest, first day of school tomorrow, right? I'll drive you in the morning,"

Mei's father pulled up to the school. He stared at her for a few moments before speaking, "Alright… Last minute spot check," He said, "Hair, looks good, makeup? I don't know anything about it but it looks good… Outfit? No holes, looks fine,"

Mei snickered, "Thanks for the spot check, dad, I look fine though, that's what waking up two hours early this morning was for, right?"

"Never hurts to double check," He said, giving Mei a hug, "Have a good day, I'll come to pick you up this afternoon,"

"Alright dad," Mei said, resting her head on his chest, "I'll see you later today," She said.

After a few moments, she pulled away, said goodbye, opened the car door, and went off to school.

At the front entrance stood a tall list posted on the wall. Looking for her name, she found what her first period would be. Physical Education. Who ever wanted to do P.E. at 7 in the morning anyway?

Mei heaved a sigh before then walking into the school building. There was a general sense of chaos, students running through the halls being chased by teachers, people talking loudly, small get togethers. The cliques ran wild. Nerds getting pranked by the jocks, only to be pranked by the goths three seconds later.

Mei pulled out her phone and texted her dad, "Just got in the building, gonna figure out where my first period is, I have gym, apparently,"

Her father responded with a few laughing emojis before replying, "Not a problem for you! Got my strength, after all! Don't go too hard on things though,"

Mei replied with a few laughing emojis as well before putting her phone away and looking for the gym. Clearly, from process of elimination, it wouldn't make sense for a gym to be on the second or third floor. So, she scoured the first floor.

After five minutes, she finally found a pair of double doors leading into an indoor basketball court, "Weird that the gyms are just basketball courts with extra steps…" She murmured under her breath.

A few moments passed. Mei leaned against the wall and played on her phone. However, after a few seconds, she noticed that the wall she had been leaning against disappeared. Along with the entire rest of the building.

"Eh?"

She looked up above. Her school was floating.

"I don't think those are supposed to do that," Mei murmured. She dialed her fathers phone number, "Hey dad… Mhm… Mhmm… Right, yeah, my school is currently floating… No, I'm not inside of the school… Yeah, I'll hold,"

She waited impatiently, tapped her foot and just stared up at the school. She changed to pacing around in circles.

It didn't take much longer for her father to appear. Dressed all up in his superhero costume, he flew up to her.

"Greetings!" He exclaimed.

"Hey dad," Mei said, putting away her phone, "Three minutes, fifty-four seconds, getting slower,"

"Awww, don't be like that!" He said, "Here, I'll be right back, gotta save your school! We'll grab ice cream afterwards!"

He then flew off, both he and the school disappeared in a flash.
