A day passed and as expected food was delivered to their rooms while wearing their Academy badge. The badge was triangular in shape with another triangular golden design inscribed in it with a single eye at the center.
Ding!
[Locator spell embedded in the item. The host is advised to leave the token behind should he need to take care of private matters]
The messages appeared and he frowned before shooting the school badge at a glance. He guessed that this was the academy's way of keeping track of their students and a form of protection.
Xiu!
The token was still in Sol's hand when it released a bright light and a strange symbol began forming at the back of his hand.
Shit!
Sol felt a burning pain and tried to let go of the time but he couldn't.
Ding!
[Warning: Binding spell triggered. If successful, should the host move a certain distance away from his token, academy authorities will quickly be informed!]
Ding!
[Defense mechanisms activated]
[Repelling seal…]
[Failed!]
[Hosts level is too low to carry out this action]
[Calculating….]
[Suppressing Binding spell…]
[Failed!]
[Host is too weak to combat a seal of this level, please ensure to level up weakly]
"Ah!" Sol fell on one knee as the same symbol as what was on the token was embedded at the back of his hands.
Huff!
'Nice, even I didn't see this coming!' Sol commended the school as he began to feel the impending danger looming around him. With the seal placed on him, he wouldn't be able to move freely.
....
Sol soon arrived at the assembly hall which was practically a massive clearing in the middle of a thick forest. They were led here in Academy carriages, following a path which they are unfamiliar with.
As soon as the carriage arrived and the students began coming out, they were stunned by the site. Normally a session should have at least over two hundred students or so but today they were barely up to thirty.
"Welcome to the academy of Guardians, I, Miss Lurk will be in charge of the first stage of the examination," Miss Lurk said.
She was an elderly woman that looked like someone in her late eighties but unlike the usual sight, Sol was stunned to see a woman of that age so vibrant and strong.
"Examination? I thought everyone was allowed to join the academy. It's not an examination if no one can fail" Sol said calmly as his voice rang across the field, gaining the attention of everyone.
They all looked in his direction and even the old lady whose eyes had always been closed slightly opened them.
"Aaah! Child of destruction. I hope I won't get to meet you. I do not know why the elders refuse to remove this imminent threat once and for all" the lady did not hide her disdain for Sol but he didn't seem to mind.
"I do not belong here and yet I'm here. I can confidently claim you can not do anything about it. Now I suggest you pick your words carefully when speaking to me. While I may be the child of destruction, I'm still the sixth tribe chieftain. A mere tutor is not qualified to look my way" Sol snorted disdainfully as he lashed out at the lady ruthlessly.
Thanks to his background as the tribe Chieftain, if not he would have been dead already at the hands of his enemies.
"You…." The eyes of the lady chilled but she remained helpless about Sol.
Just like Sol said the difference in title was the only reason preventing a fight from breaking out
"The examination is not for the entrance into the academy but the ranking system," Miss Lurk said.
"This ranking examination is divided into two groups, one held for noncombatants and then brutes like yourself… Here your ranking determines a lot, especially the kinds of resources you are allocated so I suggest you take this seriously." Miss Lurk said with a cruel look in her eyes before going on to explain the rules of the current competition.
Apparently, the forest they were moved to seemed to be some sort of training ground for the school filled with monsters. For the first part of this test, fighting skills and personal combat experience would be needed.
For someone like Sol who has no battle experience, especially both in his old and new life, it was quite disturbing for him since he knew this was a weakness he possessed. Right now the only advantages he had was his mind and experience as a human and also the system, outside that he was greatly overwhelmed by the odds stacked against him but he didn't let it show.
" In the Hallow mountain, we have two types of supernatural beings, Rü-Ɗestros, and Rü-Ɲætros which both represent being of destruction and balance respectfully. While some supernatural beings are fashioned to become the greatest blade, some are created to become the ultimate shield" Miss Lurk explained and Sol frowned as he quickly understood what was going on and what she was trying to say.
While those differences in a person are something decided by the world. Even amongst the werewolves and vampires, there were beings who turned out to be Rü-Ɲætros.
Luckily, Sol was born a fighter even though his body has been reduced to this level. Going over the details of the first test, Sol clearly understood the goal. In this forest, there are various kinds of creatures and beasts as Hallow mountain is the gateway for these monsters into the human world so it shouldn't be shocking to find out that beasts outside the four families exist.
According to the rules, the monsters placed in these locations were done according to strength and the test result is also meant to be determined by each point each of these beasts carries.
A normal goblin represents one point, a goblin warlord is worth two points, a Goblin shaman is worth three points, and wendigos are worth three points. A ghoul carries four points and an orc five points.
"Don't be fooled, the gap in strength by these beasts is quite tricky. You see a goblin may be worth one point and a goblin warlord two. Even though the difference in points is one, the difference in strength is much more. I recommend battles with higher-level beasts are avoided unless necessary… This test will carry on for three days… so do well to survive until it's over, death In the academy is normal here, death of a Chieftain or the heir of a family is not uncommon as well" Mrs. Lurk shot Sol a cold glance as she said the last past before her body slowly began turning transparent slowly fading and leaving all thirty students or so present.
