To these people what the sixth chieftain did was an abomination but to Sol, it was something he deeply respected.
How can someone be okay with stagnation?
Where is the adventurous spirit?
Where is the competition?
For someone like Sol who lived the best life possible in the past, he wouldn't settle for less. Normally he would call their bullshit and walk away from all of this but as a man who has once conquered the world, Sol understood something.
If one did not possess power, he would be forced to submit to the will of others. Louis Lark is not a man to bend a knee even for the heavens. He lived and died trying to reach greater heights in his past life and that's what he plans to do here.
If these people thought he had come for just the seat of the Sixth tribe chieftain then they gravely misunderstand his intentions.
"These hands will cover the heavens" Sol repeated his favorite quote as he began staggering forward.
His bony legs were weak but his fighting will be as strong as ever. In the past world, he came from, all he needed to survive was simply wealth and nothing else. But he understood that won't work here.
Sol knew just being the sixth tribe chieftain won't guarantee his safety. As a businessman, he could feel the system wasn't being entirely honest with him. It won't single out his soul and send him to this strange world without a reason.
He needed to know why but first he needed to be strong enough to protect himself. If the system said walking through the burning trail would grant him unexpected rewards then he was willing to take the risk!
The scorching trail was like any other scorching road made of hot coal but strangely what was there wasn't normal flames but golden flames.
Thud!
As soon as Sol's leg touched the scorching burning trail an overwhelming feeling invaded his body, causing him to frown!
Blegh
Sol spat out a mouthful of black blood as his body shivered. Visible fiery cracks spread from the trail of fire, spreading all the way to his body.
"When walking the trail of transparency, one must never stop nor take a step back. The backlash is unimaginable, keep your condition in mind as you act" An old cruel voice boomed and Sol frowned.
Thud!
Without hesitation, he took another step forward and his body trembled as a series of messages rang in his head.
Ding!
[Fiery Trail of transparency detected]
[Core energy invaded by foreign energy]
[Rejecting…]
Blegh!
Sol spat out another mouthful of black blood as his body shivered and he staggered back twice.
Swish!
Swish!
Two bloody steaming hot gashes appeared on his back causing him to fall to his knees!
Swish!
Swish!
Swish!
Sounds of an invisible scorching whip lashing out at Sol filled the air as the smell of burning skin could be perceived. Fresh blood poured out of his wounds as he struggled to get on his feet but the punishment was relentless.
Blood squirted out multiple times and spread across the holy ground. At first, people found this amusing since they failed to understand how a cripple would attempt to take part in the awakening rites in such a condition.
Swish!
Sol's body collapsed to the ground as sounds of countless strikes could be heard while his body was soon left drowning in a pool of his boiling blood.
Huff!
The elders seated not too far from the fiery trail did not attempt to save Sol. They all simply sighed with disappointment written all over their faces. They naturally didn't like Sol because of his origins but the sixth family needed a chieftain. Sol's failure and possible death meant the end of a tribe that has been a part of their family from the beginning of time.
They had hoped Sol would at least carry on the family in name until a capable descendant meant to take his place is gone.

Sol was left confused as these messages kept popping up in his face. His once dying body slowly felt warm energy surge into it. The warm feeling spread all through his body and the pain slowly faded, getting fainter as time went on.

May paled and retreated, leaving behind the five chieftains gazing at Sol with strange looks in their eyes. It seems as if they wanted to be happy but they could not partake in it.

Swoosh!
"Wow…" Sol muttered as he stood at the center of the burning trail of transparency.
The trail had become dim and refused to light up while Sol stood as if nothing happened.
Even he was stunned by everything that just happened and just like everyone else, he was just as confused if not what.
'If I truly wish to survive this world I need to know how this system works and how to use it to my advantage' Sol reminded himself once again.
