Chapter 5 - The Aftermath

Kota Suzuki woke abruptly to the sun beaming down against his porcelain skin, the sun's heat lathered onto his face like a syrup spreading around a pancake. As he awoke, visions from last night began overflowing his mind. Kota smashed his hands into his face, reeling himself back into reality. Then he slithered out of his slender bed and escaped the depths of his room. Then he trudged into the kitchen, yet nothing had changed. Despite all the damage that happened last night, his kitchen and his living room weren't affected? Why?

Kota slapped himself again, then he opened his eyes. The world around him still remained the same, but what happened last night was real, wasn't it? Kota sighed, then put on his uniform and headed out of his apartment.

Ever since a few weeks ago, snow began blanketing the robust city. Despite being in the north, Scarlet City didn't get snow often. Kota waltzed down the street, and suddenly the school enveloped his vision. The school he attended was called "Everstone Academy", it was a school for prodigy's and Kota always wondered how he got in.

Kota sighed, then trudged forward into the massive academy. Right before Kota, stood his best friend Yami. Yami's face sparkled in the sun's beauty, his eyes averted to Kota slowly and his blonde hair seemed a shade of white as he walked to Kota.

"Hey Yami," Kota said, walking over to him.

Yami glared into Kota's eyes. "Hey…"

"You alright? you seem kinda down."

"Yes I'm fine, just what happened yesterday wasn't cool. You said we wouldn't get caught, and recently I've been trying to keep a good reputation with the teachers." Yami explained.

Kota glanced at Yami, then to the window right beside them. "My bad, it won't happen again." Kota sighed.

Yami stared at Kota, shrugged off his explanation, then he clenched his fist. "Don't you realize we're growing up Kota? I don't know what you used to do back in your old town but here opportunities matter." Yami protested.

Kota towered over Yami, but for some reason, it seemed as if Yami towered over Kota at this moment. "I'm sorry, you know it isn't tha-"

Right before Kota could finish his sentence, a vicious slap slammed into his face. Kota slowly turned his face to Yami, "What's wrong with you! You're being so arrogant and selfish, and I hate that…" Yami blurted out before leaving the scene.

Had Kota truly been selfish? He didn't mean to crush Yami's feelings, but Kota never understood the purpose of opportunities. He saw them as hollow endeavors that only "nerds" followed. But as the sun climbed the horizon, Kota began to realize how he'd been acting. He ignored everyone after they got caught, and he didn't even apologize. Kota glared at the cerulean sky and let out a massive sigh. Then he headed to his first period.

Mr Ameno's class was usually Kota's least anticipated class. However, today was going to be different. Kota walked over to his desk, and plumply sat down. Of course, Asuka Chihiro sat right beside him.

Kota swiftly glanced at her, Asuka's golden hair drooped from her head into two twin ponytails that resided at the side of her head. Kota's eyes widened as he noticed she was asleep. Kota smiled deviously, "The class rep is asleep…?" He muttered.

Kota's mind raced with nefarious thoughts, perhaps he'd spray paint her face or pour a bucket of water on her. However, he came to the humble decision of simply waking her.

He launched his hands forward, and smashed them into her back. "Wakey wakey…" He yelled, then Asuka's head rose up quickly.

Asuka Chihiro's head swooped backwards in one big motion. Her eyes stabbed into his as they stared into each other's pupils. Asuka's eyes had massive bags extending from them as she slowly rose from her chair. "What?" Her words cut deep into Kota's skin.

Kota smiled, "I just wanted to wake you up, class is about to start."

Asuka looked surprised, "Oh sorry, I didn't get much sleep last night." She chuckled. "But you're one to talk, you're always sleeping in class."

Kota laughed, then glanced at the door. Someone familiar stood there, her skin was a bronze color and her hair was in a massive fro. Kota was nearly bewildered by her beauty, and for some reason she waltzed over towards them.

"Asuka relax, give the poor boy a break." She said, her green eyes dazzling in the sun's radiance.

"Whatever Rukia…" Asuka said, then sat into her seat.

Kota smiled at Rukia, "Thanks for saving me, I was sure I was gonna die." Kota claimed whilst staring at a paper assignment. However, Kota didn't stare at the paper because of the work, instead he was nervous.

Rukia's eyes mesmerized him each time he stared into them, as she was simply too beautiful.

"N-no problem!" Rukia exclaimed. For approximately ten minutes, the three conversed about their school lives, they'd talk until Mr Ameno arrived. Then Rukia would flee the classroom in a hurry.

Time passed, each period was the same as the last. Jarring and daunting, the usual for Kota Suzuki. As lunch came, Kota glared at the cloud stricken sky, he wondered if Minori Kimura was here today. And if she was on the roof? He brushed his feet against the gray flooring, and suddenly he was sprinting to the roof. Kota refused to miss her, after all, the one thing he desired the most were answers.

His feet crashed against the steel stairs as he blitzed up them. Kota's eyes were transfixed on the metal door before him, as he got closer, his heart raced even more. He could feel each heartbeat thumping in his chest, he could even feel the blood flowing from his veins.

As snow began to falter from the heavens a white essence began to crowd the robust city. Kota lunged forward, forcing the metal door to flash open. Light seeped in from the sky blinding Kota as he voyaged the roof. He glanced at every corner, searching for her. All hope seemed to dwindle away, she wasn't here. Until suddenly.

"Kota? Is that you…?" Minori Kimura had spoken, her words soothed through the thick air as she entered the roof. Kota turned around slowly, and there she was, basking in the sun's might. She seemed nearly angelic as she stood there, allowing the light to illuminate her and her surroundings.
