Chapter 67 - Special chapter 2 – To the man who killed my father

[Third POV]

Wayne had run straight home, he found both Kai's parents' home, luckily, he had briefed them on the possible of human trafficking, bother Clayton and Kaleah had decided to drive to where Kai was to help him.

On their way there they had called the police, it was quite a busy time, there were police cars everywhere when they arrived.

Wayne felt scared as he saw the little girl covered in blood crying, and there was a body covered the same location he left Kai.

"Kai…..." he says scared, the police line had halted them from going further, but Clayton soon found a police officer to find out what was going on, only to find his son in handcuffs, covered in blood.

"Father?" Kai says in a scared voice, "I didn't mean…... It was a mistake; I didn't mean to."

"Hey…" Clayton says trying to get to his son, but h was stopped by a police officer.

"Sir, you are not allowed anywhere near the suspect," the police officer says, getting attention from both Wayne and Kaleah.

"What..." Kaleah says, "he is still a child, why is he in handcuffs?"

Kaleah cries, "it must have been a mistake, please let him go," Kaleah cries, watching her terrified son covered in blood.

"He will have to go to the station," the officer says.

"Hey…. Let us go to the station, we will see him there," Clayton says consoling his wife.

"Wayne calls you Uncle Joshua to meet us at the station, tell him what is going on," Clayton says.

"We will sort this out Kai, don't worry," he reassured his son before following the police car to the police station.

Joshua was first to arrive as he was closer to the station when he got the call, the media were already at the station with their cameras and stuff.

Clayton hated this; his son just wanted to help but now he will be known as a criminal.

Due to his age, it was unclear of what charges he might face, but Joshua reassured how he might not even face any charges since it was self-defense.

Kai felt scared, he was going to be in jail, and he wouldn't see his family ever again, he kept rubbing his hands that were still covered with blood, he wanted the blood off him.

Uncle Carter was on the case, so he knew he might have been safe, he hated watching his mother cry, it was the first time he had seen her cry like that.

He felt like such a disappointment, the media must be already talking about this, they must demonize his parents.

"Kai," Joshua says, he was the first-person Kai saw since he got to the police station.

"Uncle Josh," he says.

"Are you okay?" Joshua asked gently, he wanted to say yes, he wanted to lie, but just couldn't, just then he started crying.

He is still a child, he still has a life to work for, he has dreams, he doesn't want to go to jail.

"I didn't mean to, I tried to catch him, but I was too late," He cries, "am I going to be a criminal?"

"Hey," Joshua says hugging the little boy, "you will not be a criminal, I already have a CCTV footage proving it was a mistake."

"And the girl?" he asked.

"We were able to find her mother, she was found lifeless beaten to a pulp, you saved two lives," Joshua says.

"But… he was her father," Kai says, "I killed her father."

"He was abusive, we have proof that he was abusive to both her and her mother," Joshua says. "you were just trying to help Kai."

"But…. I killed him, I killed him Uncle Josh." Kai says before bursting into a painful cry, Joshua had never seen him so defeated. He had hoped to help him through everything.

The case was too complex to be solved in a day, but they had allowed Kai to go home on bail that day, he was still a nine-year-old.

Kai's siblings and cousins had welcomed him home, they had hugged him as he cried.

"It was a mistake Kai, don't blame yourself," Zoey tells her little brother, "it will be okay, just stop worrying about it."

They had reassured him it will be okay; Joshua was running like a mad man to get Kai free from this.

It took about a week to get a verdict and Kai was too young to stand trial and they had proved that his push wasn't the one that killed the man.

His parents were very supportive and loving during this whole fiasco, it was a shock to his great grandmother but she supported Kai through everything.

So, he was free, but Kai still felt like it was too easy, he took a life, mistake or not he took a life, he felt guilty, he wouldn't want anyone to walk free if he had killed his father.

"Stop stressing you fool," Kaiden says to his brother, "it was a mistake, they wouldn't have found you not guilty of it wasn't."

"But I killed a man Kaiden," Kai says.

"He deserved it after what he did to his wife and daughter," Kaiden says coldly, "okay, if you feel greedy opt for therapy, it will help you with you guilt, at least that is what others says."

"I will try," Kai says.

"Want to play some video games?" Kaiden asks, he wanted to cheer up his brother and he knew video games would.

Kai hoped this to blow over, he would tell his mother about speaking to a professional, and maybe the nightmares and guilt would be better.

"Sure," he replies, he just hopes the little girl is okay, he ruined her life. Maybe she resents him, maybe she is plotting her revenge, he will take in all the revenge when the time comes, he owes her that much.
