Elena POV
Everyone went dancing except Rosa and I because we had to protect our places on the sofa so that no one could take them away from us. I can't be here without my sofa, it's comfortable, it's great.
ELENA: Isn't it the most comfortable sofa in the world? Why would anyone want to get up from here and dance?
Rosa giggled.
ROSA: Don't think you'll get away with it tonight, after that you can take me for a dance.
ELENA: Well, I can make an effort for you.
I smiled and she looked at me shyly. I love it when she looks at me like that. Our friends are on the dance floor, Myria was on fire, she was dancing like she was performing at the VMA's and people were looking at her. I felt a little cringe, I'm not going to deny it.
ROSA: What's wrong with Myria?
ELENA: She likes to dance. -I giggled.
ROSA: I mean with Alba.
ELENA: What do you mean?
ROSA: You know, she's been talking to her on Tinder for weeks, she seems to like her, when she goes on the date she treats her like a freak and today she can't stop staring at her. That these, -she said pointing to Noelia, Arancha and Alicia,-maybe they haven't noticed, but I have.
ELENA: Oh, that. I think, and this is my theory but I could be wrong, that Myria likes Alba a little bit. But I also think, and this is also my theory and I may also be wrong, that Myria doesn't know it yet.
ROSA: That she likes her and doesn't know it?
ELENA: That's what I said.
'I said that?'
ROSA: And why did she treat her like that when they met? If she liked her, she could have just met her, right? Alba was very attracted to her.
ELENA: But that day was different, she didn't like her there, she just wanted revenge because she's a walking gentlewoman.
Rosa looks at me without understanding anything.
ELENA: I thought you knew. Myria met Alba to get revenge because she made me cry. I already scolded her for that back in the day, but Myria is very protective of the people she loves and she's also very impulsive, she never thinks too much about the things she does.
Rosa looked at me sweetly.
ROSA: Aw, Elena, did you really cry?
I felt the heat rise in my cheeks.
ELENA: Well, in my defense, I'd say that it was that time of the month and Alba was pretty blunt. It was silly, but I was a bit affected by what she said that day.
Rosa comes up to me and kisses me on the cheek, longer than I expected, and also closer to my lips than it should be. A tingle runs up from my lower abdomen to my chest. I grin like an idiot. I don't want her to pull away from me. I'd really like to kiss her, but I'm afraid. Whenever I get involved with a girl I end up losing interest in a few days and I'd hate myself if that happened to Rosa, I need this to last as long as possible. I wouldn't forgive myself if I hurt her.
ROSA: Why didn't she try to explain it to Alba?
ELENA: I don't know, I thought you both knew.
ROSA: No, she thinks that Myria was very disappointed when she saw her.
ELENA: I don't know about that. She just never tells me anything. I mean, I'm her best friend and she knows I'll always be there, but it's hard for her to talk about things, she always keeps it to herself. I think she doesn't even ask herself the right questions.
ROSA: What do you mean?
ELENA: I don't know how to explain it.
'How do I explain it?'
ELENA: For example what I said before, I think she likes Alba and I don't think she's aware of it, I think she hasn't even considered that she might like Alba, because she doesn't ask the right questions, she just gets tangled up in the nonsense surrounding things. Do you know what I mean?
ROSA: Yes.
I like that she always understands everything I say, when sometimes I don't even understand myself.
Alba POV
The night is being amazing, I haven't had such a good time in a long time. Adriana couldn't stop looking at me and saying silly things to me. That I was very pretty, that she liked my dress, that I smelled good... When such a beautiful girl says those things to you, the night can only get better.
If it weren't for Myria, who has an incredible ability to make the good moments always not-so-good. She's dancing near us and keeps looking at me. I can tell she's annoyed. Tonight I'm with the prettiest girl in the club and she's alone. With that ego of hers, she must be burning inside.
'Let's see who you're doing a favour for tonight, Duangjan.'
I chuckle to myself. Adriana comes up to my ear smiling.
ADRIANA: What are you laughing at?
ALBA: Nothing, just a silly thing.
Adriana approaches me and I smile. She wraps her arms around my waist and pulls me closer to her. I feel the warmth of her body, we're so close, the place is packed tonight and we often bump into the people dancing around us, but she surrounds me and I feel protected. I stretch my arms out and put them behind her neck. She's taller than me, but with the heels we're the ideal distance and I actually feel like kissing her. I look into her eyes and smile, she lowers her gaze to my lips, we seem to be thinking the same thing.
'I'm going to kiss her.'
I put my lips to hers and we let ourselves go. She's not a bad kisser. Her mouth is very soft and her lips are... nice. I bite her bottom lip and she smiles.
When we pull apart, I see Myria watching us. She had stopped dancing and seemed stuck in the middle of the dance floor, but as soon as our eyes met she turned around and went about her thing.
'What an idiot.'
Myria POV
ARANCHA: They just kissed!
ALICIA: I saw it, too!!!
ARANCHA: Alba kissed her! I am so jealous.
They burst out laughing. When they finished laughing Noelia looked at them.
NOELIA: Aww, we're not taking the model home tonight. -She made a pitiful face.
They giggle.
'Where's the damn joke?'
I feel like throwing up. I don't know why, I haven't had that much to drink either. I mean, I've had a lot to drink and I know I'm a bit drunk, but I'm not drunk enough to throw up. I'm having such a crappy night today, I really am. I hope it's over quickly.
MYRIA: I'm going with Elena and Rosa.
A/A/N: OK!
'Why are they talking in sync?'
When I get to the sofa my stomach is more settled.
MYRIA: What's up, girls?
ELENA: Hey, nice dance moves, baby.
She said this last in her horrible English and I would normally laugh with (at) her, but today I don't feel like laughing.
MYRIA: I'm drunk.
ELENA: We know.
They look at me condescendingly.
ROSA: Do you want some water?
MYRIA: No, I don't need any. I'm going to let it go down a bit and have another drink.
ROSA: You shouldn't drink anymore, Myria, you look terrible.
MYRIA: I don't care.
I fold my arms like I did when I was a little girl. I don't know why I'm so angry today, I shouldn't have gone out. Alba fucking Hevia is still making out with the dancer. They won't stop. What a pain in the ass, let them go to a hotel.
'Is the dancer touching her ass?'
I feel like throwing up again. I think I get it from Alba, every time I look at her I want to throw up because she's hateful.
'No, she finds me hateful, but I don't care about her.'
That's it. The thing is, I'm drunk and I haven't hooked up today, so it bothers me that she has. I always get girls, so why am I so unlucky today?
After a while I feel like going to the bathroom.
MYRIA: I'm going to the bath, girls.
ROSA: Do you want us to come with you?
MYRIA: No need, take care of the sofa, it's more important.
I said this with more drama than I intended and they looked at me with concern. I smiled at them to play it down. The walk to the bathroom took forever. The discotheque was packed, I had rarely seen it like that, I had to push people and I was a bit dizzy. When I arrived there was a huge queue.
'Great, now I'll wait here.'
A couple of minutes later Alba arrived. She stood behind me, closer than she probably intended because of the amount of people around us.
MYRIA: Miss Hevia, good night.
ALBA: Night.
MYRIA: I see we have a show today.
She rolled her eyes and tossed her hair back.
ALBA: Are you having fun, Myria?
MYRIA: Perfectly, Alba.
I remarked the Alba and smiled smugly.
MYRIA: Alba, Alba, Alba. You can't stop me from calling you "Alba" here.
Alba raised an eyebrow.
ALBA: Are you drunk?
MYRIA: Maybe...
ALBA: Call me whatever you want, I don't care.
She looked away.
'This isn't funny.'
I looked at her legs (they're nice, actually), her dress (why does it have to fit her so well?), her cleavage (I need a drink) and her face (but I'm indifferent, I'm indifferent, I'm indifferent). She kept ignoring me. From this distance I could tell that today she smelled like the perfume I like. Why did she have to smell this good? She must have felt uncomfortable because she turned to look at me again.
ALBA: What do you want?
MYRIA: You didn't come this pretty for our date.
She stared at me for a moment, curious, serious.
ALBA: Do you think I look pretty?
Before I could get nervous and reply that of course not, that she was just a little more dressed up than the other time but that's not pretty, a girl behind her pushed her through the crowd and Alba stumbled, landing on my chest. I reflexively grabbed her and the smell of her hair filled my lungs. It was the first time I'd ever touched her skin and a tingle ran through me. No. It wasn't a tingle, it was more like a lightning bolt. A damn nice lightning bolt. Why is she so soft? I'm going to faint.
'Oh, for fuck's sake, Myria.'
Alba stared at me and her cheeks turned as red as her dress. She pulled away from me.
ALBA: I'm sorry.
MYRIA: It's okay, it's so crowded today.
We stared at each other for a while, I don't know what to say to her. I can't take my eyes off her lips, why can't I look away?
'I want to kiss her too, am I drunker than I thought I was?'
ALBA: Myria.
MYRIA: What?
ALBA: My eyes are here - she points to her eyes - not here - she points to her mouth.
My face is starting to burn like fire. I'm going to start burning all of a sudden in a room full of people. Why did she say that to me?
'Say something to her. Stop looking at her lips. Say something to her. In the eyes, please.'
MYRIA: Yeah, it's just that your lipstick's all messed up and you look like The Joker.
I smiled cockily and turned around, the girl in front of me in the queue had just left and it was my turn to go to the toilet.
When I returned to the sofa, they were all seated. Adriana was surrounded by Arancha, Noelia and Alicia, who kept asking her to play at passing the ice with them from mouth to mouth. I don't feel like continuing the night, I just want to go home, so I say goodbye to everyone. I've had enough for today.
