Chapter 56 - Chapter 56

It was a bright Saturday as Subh attended guests in his gallery, reporters and critics...

There was a particular portrait that had garnered attention from all alike, a portrait of an indian girl and it called,

Renaissance.

(Rebirth)

Around 2 in the afternoon, the crowd thinned a little as Subh's eye caught a familiar face staring at his Renaissance.

Subh touched his heart and took a deep breath to calm his nervous down.

"Hey there!" He stood behind the lady and spoke in a gentle voice.

The lady turned around and smiled.

She wore a white shirt tucked inside a pair of formal flared trousers, making her slender waist appear irresistible.

"So? Renaissance huh?"

She raised her eyebrow and smirked.

"Yes, she is the reason I'm alive today."

He extended his arms, wrapping it tightly in his arms.

"June, that night, before you walked inside the Spa, I was planning to end my life." He paused, planting a kiss on her exposed neck.

"You gave me a new life!"

"Why didn't you contact me?"

June whispered.

"I did... But, all my messages went undelivered! And, I thought maybe you don't want to keep in touch with me anymore... But, I didn't lose hope, June." He released her from his warm embrace and turned to face the celebrated portrait that hung proudly from the wall.

"And, this... This kept me going!"

June pulled him by his collar and captured his lips in a feverish kiss.

"I missed you Subh."

Subh's hands moved up, cupping her face as their lips detached after the long breathless kiss.

"Give me a minute, will you!"

Subh raised his index finger excusing himself as June saw him walk in the glass cabin on the left of the gallery hall.

Finally!! June took a deep breath and smiled, feeling the warmth of Subh's touch in her heart.

"Miss June Mukherjee!"

Subh suddenly called her name out loud, startling her, as she promptly turned around, her heart skipping a beat at the sight.

Subh had kneeled on the carpeted floor on one knee, and his stretched right hand held a small ring that glowed in the broad daylight.

"I told you I'll be ready with a ring if you come to Paris!" He smiled brightly as she inched closer.

"How could I have not come, Liam Subham Rogers! The package you proposed was enticing."

She raised her hand letting him slide the ring in his ring finger.

The surroundings faded and a faint distant sound of clapping echoed in their ears, as Subh and June looked in each other's eyes, losing each other in the abyss of love, before their lips claimed their love with its powerful proclamation.

"I love you, June."

"I love you, too!" June winked, amidst tears, "now what?"
