As early as 7am, Preye and Malcolm were summoned by Captain Martins to an urgent meeting in his office. When they were all settled in their chairs, he told them he received orders from the Western Headquarter that they were expected at the Orchard metropolis Airport, by noon and that it had already been cleared with the Western Consulate and the State Controller.
The Federal Controller is the special guest of honour and we will be shown around all the project sites of the commission developing the Oily Lands, Captain Martins continued. Somebody from the Western Consulate has been directed to pick you up and attend to all your basic needs till you leave for the West, he said to Preye.
We have got less than five hours left, so we better get set to leave, concluded Captain Martians. Five minutes before noon, an aircraft carrying Captain Martins, Malcolm and Preye together with the maintenance crew taxied along the carrier and was airborne in less than no
time. Before Preye could settle down on the chains of thought he wanted to concentrate on, the aircraft touched down at the Orchard metropoliss International Airport.
Preye looked out of the window and saw several journalists, security personnels, the women of Oily Lands, who were uniformly dressed, dancing to the tune of several musical instruments being played for their dancing pleasure.
As they walked down the stairs, Preye immediately identified the State and Federal Controllers in the midst of the entourage walking towards the aircraft on the red carpet. Both parties met in the middle and introduced themselves.
Captain Martins and Malcolm decided to make Preye their spokesman that will be acting as a mediator between both parties. As they walked towards the convoy of the State and Federal Controller, several journalists approached them and asked them several questions which they always transferred to Preye, who spent his walk to the car park answering the questions thrown at him in regards to the enlightenment, development and empowerment of the Oily Lands people.
They got to the cars and were ushered into the Lexus stretch of the Federal Controller. The Western crew together with Preye and the controllers of the State and Nation had a pleasant ride talking about issues of life and getting to know each other.
Talking about the Oily Lands, said Malcolm. We will spend almost all our time talking about that, so it is best we enjoy the moment, said the Federal Controller and they all laughed.
Meanwhile back in the Western Meteorological department, the radar beeped constantly and the satellites transmitting weather report swayed beyond the comprehension of the meteorologists, so it was obvious that there was disturbance in the universe. The ocean and seas overshadowed their banks and it was all over the news that Antarctica has melted due to global warning.
The asteroid approached the earth with a constant acceleration that increased by 100km/h, that it became obvious that in less than no time, the earth will be smashed by the asteroid that was moving directly to the earth.
All advanced first world countries hastened the preparation of their space ships that would convey its citizens to mars, which was the closest alternative, due to the fact that each had made provision in mars by acquiring oxygenated territory, enhanced by oxygen generated plants cultivated in mars and each territory was as large as any country found on earth.
The D. S space ship beat the force of gravity and elevated beyond the skies into their newly acquired lands in mars, and the other civilized continents made provisions for such. The countries of Africa united to build several space crafts that will convey them to space so they can acquire their portions negotiated through one of the advanced countries. By the year 2018, settlement would have reached individual lands, with intent of building world peace that seemed illusive on the earth. The various countries were either dissatisfied with the activities of another country or the activities of other countries sapped or deprived it of one of its workers or the other, so there was maximum dissatisfaction in space.
The issue of globalization was brought up in space and the various countries were of the opinion that it was too sudden to discuss the issue of globalization in space, when permanent settlement was not achieved. The advanced countries had already built their settlement and it was already agreed in a world summit that the equator was already divided and the North, South, East, West had already been allocated space in Mars and the allocation was similar to that on earth.
The various continents occupied their previous airspace and land, as it was on earth, and some countries felt highly dissatisfied because they felt space should be different from earth, and the earths world power was not supposed to be the world power in Mars, because a lot of things differ.
The fact emphasized by developing countries is that the oxygen supply was independent of world power but had to do with how well a country had co-ordinated itself before coming to space, and each country had helped itself, even if the world power contributed a great deal to the developing countries by building their space crafts, securing an airspace and land space. They were fair enough to award to each country according to its portion, contribution and activities on earth.
A few countries thought of a way to seize the world powers from the Westerners, as the whole activities of various countries that were previously on earth were identical to that in Mars, despite the facts that some countries on earth had decided not to leave for mars, because they see it as a trick by the advanced countries to get all of them to a different planet, so they can occupy and coordinate the earth as they obviously were not satisfied with the coordination they had on the earth.
It was certain that the only difference in mars was the oxygen supply and the magnetic force created by each country to hold its citizen firm to mars else every other thing was similar, ranging from the division of land to the world system.
One of the obvious things that changed in space was the names of the countries and that marked a new beginning. The name of each country had the alphabet 2 attached to the last letter. While the asteroids accelerated to the earth and the tides overflow their banks due to global warming, operation vacate the earth became the priority.
The West wants to chase every country to mars, so they can occupy the earth, was the evil thought that dominated the day. The evil thought prompted an attack on the defense Headquarters. And while the carrier controlled by Captain Martins anchored on the mid-Atlantic exploring the Oily Lands, the Western defense Headquarters was under attack and so were other targets that contributed a great deal to the up keep of the Western economy.
Back in the car, the Western crew and the controllers carried on with their conversation. The mysteries in the depths of Oily Lands are beyond the comprehension of human senses, Malcolm said still pursuing the conversation. What do you mean by the mysteries in the depths asked the State Controller? Strange things happen there replied Malcolm. They happen here too, said the State Controller.
There is a case of a man driving home in his car at night along the express way, and all of a sudden, a woman crossed the road and was knocked down by the car, which split into two halves. The lower half of the car remained on the lane the accident occurred but the upper half flew across the four lane expressway and landed a little bit out of the road, facing the opposite direction, he said. You mean the impact on the woman tore the car into two? Captain Martins asked.
The happiest part of the story is that the man came out of the car unscratched, screaming that he had killed a woman but the funniest part is that when people ran across the four lanes, they saw a goat with the intestines spread on the ground. They congratulated the man for killing a goat and mistaking it for an old woman. The man almost went mad trying to convince the crowd that he had hit an old woman. The whole thing took a different turn when the people realized the goat was bloodless. The people screamed and shouted when it was obvious that something was mysterious about the goat without eyes. And the stomach contents were green, instead of bloody red.
That is rum, said Malcolm. It is interesting to know that the mysteries are not confined to the rural communities, said Captain Martins.
After some days, it was later learnt that the son of the dead woman drove down to the spot and covered the goat with a cloth and was about carrying it into his car, when he was confronted by some people nearby, the state controller continued.
He explained to them that his mum was terribly ill and would certainly die unless the goat was brought to her, the man said. In less than no time, the place was crowded and the crowd accused him of conspiring with his mum to attempt murdering a man through a car accident, the state controller continued.
The crowd beat the man terribly and someone poured fuel all over the car and was about to ignite it when an invincible slap landed on his face. The angry mob could not believe this and someone else tried to ignite the car once again but received a loud invincible slap then the unbelievable happened. The state controller said, with a smile on his face as he sat opposite the Western crew in the stretch automobile.
And empty vehicle reversed itself before moving forward. The people screamed, smashed and ignited the car as it moved forward until it was stopped by the pole of a traffic light. The goat and car were set ablaze, while the man went immediately mad. The controller concluded and promised showing them the wreckage of the burnt car that was turned upside down since it was along their route.
The phone of Captain Martins rang and the expression on his face changed as he listened. What is the problem, they all asked him. Instant change of plans, he replied. The Western consulate has sent a few of its representatives to inspect the projects but they will take directions from Preye and take him along as they leave, since the Western government has already made provisions for him, said Captain Martians.
I was ordered to return to my station immediately, so I would appreciate my being taken back to the airport and I am committing Preye into your care for the time being, said Captain Martians.
It is alright, as there is an air force airstrip nearby and a helicopter will take you to the international airport, where your aircraft is waiting. As they walked towards the waiting helicopter, the State and Federal Controllers exchanged pleasantries with the commanding officer of the base.
The West has been attacked by terror-minded people and they have wreaked havoc, terminating thousands of lives by destroying one of the biggest structures, so we are directed to return home as soon as possible, said Captain Martins. Malcolm and Preye were dumbfounded. Preye and the Federal and State Controller, waved the Western crew as the helicopter beat gravity by lifting up to the sky.
Preye wondered what life was going to be like, but he always knew better than that because he that watches over him neither sleeps nor slumbers. He walked with the controller to the Mercedes stretch and zoomed off, smiling as the sound of Sirens filled his ears.
Donald sat down close to his dad in the sitting room as the news was being read. He saw two white men, whose uniforms revealed as marines from the West, accompanied by the State and Federal Controllers walking down the red carpet but there was something familiar about the steps of the young man walking between the men of the Western marine. The television camera caught the face of the young man as he answered all the questions thrown at him by the various media outfits present.
Preye! Exclaimed Donald. This is unbelievable, I must leave for the project sites meant for inspection first thing tomorrow morning, so I can meet Preye said Donald. His mum walked into the room and saw her son excited. What is the matter? His mum asked. That is Preye on Television. Mum, can I borrow your car tomorrow? Donald asked. Is that your high school friend Preye that you said will remain your best friend for life, his mum asked? Yes, said Donald and he is going to inspect the projects carried out by the Development Commission of the Oily Lands. You can have my spare car, so you do not inconvenience your mum his dad said. Thank you dad, he replied.
The phone rang and his dad picked it up. Good day this is Preye, please can I speak with Donald came the voice through the receiver. Sure, his dad replied and gave the phone to Donald. Boy do you know this voice asked Preye? Today is the most unbelievable day of my life, replied Donald. Tell your parent to get set because as soon as I end this call, i will be on my way to your house with a full entourage, said Preye. Lets see how it goes, Donald concluded.
Donald lay down on his airbed and stared at the ceiling for a few minutes before falling asleep. He dreamt that Torment- minded people sent lots of explosives through the Center of Commerce Ports that is located immediately before the Oily Lands.
