Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 hunting titans solo

**Next Day**

Morning came around, and Artemis arrived at Alex's workshop. She noticed the sign on the door but ignored it. She was about to knock when she saw more words written below:

**"I MEAN IT—DO NOT DISTURB, OR I SWEAR YOU WILL BE STRUCK BY LIGHTNING WHERE YOU STAND!"**

Artemis scoffed and reached for the door handle, but before she could touch it—

*Crackle!*

A lightning bolt shot down, aimed directly at her. Thankfully, Artemis dodged just in time. With an angry face, she shouted:

"You imbecile! That's going too far!"

But there was no response.

Frustrated, she left, deciding to let it go for now since Alvos had rescheduled the titan-hunting mission for tomorrow.

"Fine, we'll speak tomorrow."

Inside the workshop, Alex, who was hammering heated metal, heard footsteps leaving the door but ignored them. He turned his focus to the stockpile of anti-magic ores nearby and began mixing them with the molten metal, crafting an arming sword the length of a greatsword. After cooling it, he sharpened the blade, then carefully drew lightweight runes along it, adding a weight shifter rune to allow changes in its heaviness and length.

"I shall name you, Saveda—the Black Weapon Executioner," he said, setting the black sword aside in a leather scabbard.

Next, he experimented with some armor, melting anti-magic ores and other strong materials. He created a jacket reinforced with armor plating in key areas, an inner vest equipped with knife holders, and two revolvers with matching bullet holders. Finally, he crafted a mask with a full-blown helmet, designed to protect against toxic gases. Runes etched into the eye openings allowed the user to shift between regular vision and other modes, and the mask snugly covered his entire face.

Satisfied, he looked out the window and noticed it was already night. As he prepared for bed, Alex muttered to himself:

"I don't know why I was destined to be a god, but fate has no control over me. I am just a human with an unknown end. And Athena… What is her purpose in attacking my city?"

---

**Athenian Palace**

A woman with pale skin and violet-black hair, dressed in regalia fit for a goddess, stood gazing at the stars.

"Whoever is the city lord of Draconia, I hope you can forgive my knights, for they have committed a grievous crime," Athena murmured. She, like Alex, was of the same age and shared a similar opinion. She knew that when Alex came for answers, he would make her pay dearly.

**Next Morning**

Alvos, Artemis, and her companions gathered the horses. But these were no ordinary horses—they were Pegasus, though without wings. Equipped with magical horseshoes, they could fly and only needed feeding twice a week.

"Is he late?" Artemis asked.

"No, there are still a few minutes left," Alvos replied.

As they made their final preparations, they heard the clanking of steel boots approaching. Turning to the source of the sound, they saw Alex, dressed in a black jacket with armor plating, his weapons secured on his back, and a sapphire ring on his right middle finger.

Everyone was stunned. Alvos was the first to recover and asked:

"How did you manage to make all that?"

"Simple—just using the materials from the workshop with quick and efficient techniques."

He mounted his horse but briefly lost his balance.

"Alright, enough waiting—let's go," Alvos commanded.

But Artemis noticed Alex wasn't moving toward his horse. "Are you not getting on?" she asked.

Alex shook his head and started floating, leaving everyone shocked. Only Hermes had been known to fly, with the aid of wings on his feet.

"How are you doing that?" Artemis demanded.

"Enchanted boots with a flight option. I can also manipulate gravity around my body, allowing me to fly very fast," Alex replied, turning himself upside down before landing back on the ground.

"Alright, enough talk, let's go," Alvos said, leading the group toward the Feran Region, where they had received reports of titan activity.

---

**Feran Region**

The region had been conquered by the Chronos Horde. Flying over the frontline, Alex noticed calm defenses as the main fighting occurred elsewhere. Soldiers patrolled wooden stakes and stone forts below. As they moved deeper into the desert-like terrain, massive stone pillars came into view. The group landed atop one of these pillars.

Looking around, Alex spotted three titans roaming, wielding crude swords, axes, and chain maces, with wooden shields lashed together from large trees.

A few hours later, they set up camp. Alex, adding a touch of modernity, created military tents from hard plastic. Once settled, Alvos started the training.

---

**Two Hours Later**

Alvos, Artemis, and Alex observed a group of four titans marching near their weapons.

"Take them out, Alex—with Artemis' help," Alvos began.

"No need. I'll go solo," Alex interrupted.

"Are you sure?" Alvos asked, concerned.

"Yes," Alex confirmed.

"Alright, but be careful. Artemis will intervene if things go south."

Alex unsheathed his greatsword, knelt, and in a flash, disappeared from sight.

**Titan Camp**

The titans were casually conversing. One of them, stretching his arm, suddenly felt something odd.

*Slash! Thud!*

His arm was cleanly severed. Before he could scream, Alex appeared and, with one swift motion, split his head in half, leaving his brain matter scattered on the ground.

The other titans, unaware of their comrade's demise, continued eating. One suddenly found his head exploding as a grenade, planted by Alex earlier, detonated inside his mouth. It wasn't a normal grenade—it had been enhanced with extra gunpowder and shrapnel to tear through flesh.

Realizing something was wrong, the remaining titans panicked.

"Arm yourselves—there's an enemy nearby!" one titan shouted. But before he could react, Alex appeared overhead. He raised his palm, and a blue flame ignited.

"Fallen Flame," he whispered.

The flame landed on the titan's forehead, and within seconds, the giant collapsed, smoke billowing from his body as he was cooked from the inside.

Alex pulled out his revolvers, their runes glowing at the muzzle.

*Bang! Bang! Thud! Thud!*

Two more titans fell, and Alex stood atop one of their bodies, surveying the carnage.

"Alvos, if you can hear me, I'm moving to another location to hunt the rest of the titans."

He gathered energy around himself and leaped to the next region.

---

**BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!**

For the next few hours, screams and explosions echoed throughout the Feran Region. This event would later be known as the *Canyon Massacre*, for no titan left that battlefield alive.
