Nyx was still awake after midnight since it was a Friday night, and she didn’t have to wake up early for work the next day. It was around that time when she heard faint noises coming from the apartment's door. The faint noise was barely heard because of the voices of the people in TV, but Nyx had been somewhat uneasy ever since she left her office, that bad feeling that something would happen not leaving her alone, so when the noise came from the door, she heard it immediately.
Her body went stiff, and the hand that was smoothing down the soft white fur of Murmur stopped. The cat in her lap raised its head and looked up at Nyx whose attention was all on the door. Her amber eyes were glued to the door as if trying to make sure she didn’t mishear.
She even hoped it was all in her head. Yet the noise was heard again.
