#Chapter27

These two days had been a nightmare. A lot of things happened at once and now he also ran into his ex-wife and her new boyfriend, looking like a fool, holding a taco in his hand.
James took a big bite of the taco and huffed in annoyance.
On the other hand, Nyx rode her motorbike to her parents' house and walked inside. The house was quiet. Her parents were both at work at this hour of the day, and as for Carly, she was still in high school. She had gotten in the cheerleading squad and often came back late from school, so Nyx had the whole place for herself for a few good hours.
She took off her shoes, put down her helmet on top of the shoe cabinet alongside the keys and went upstairs to her old room. Murmur was lying down on her bed, peacefully sleeping. When it heard Nyx walk inside, she raised its head to look at her before resting it on its paws. The glassy blue eyes didn’t leave Nyx.
