Kshitija had been yearning for Awnirudh's closeness ever since they met. She had made several attempts to express her feelings to him, but Awnirudh remained indifferent to her advances. In fact, his aloofness had kindled and fueled Kshitija's persistent longing for his attention.

It is a fundamental human impulse to yearn for what is unattainable. Despite knowing deep down that Awnirudh does not belong to her, Kshitija's envy convinced her that he could not belong to Vandita either.

Vandita was merely an orphan, who had been fortunate enough to be saved by Awnirudh. It was Kshitija's jealousy that spun a tale of impossibility, making her believe that there was no way in this world that Awnirudh would choose that helpless Vandita over her.
