Chapter 20 - Save Rose

"Rose, we finally found you"

"Got out down here"

As Leon drew nearer to the apartment door, he could hear the angry voices of the Liberated he had been fighting against. The situation was tense, and he knew he had to act swiftly.

"Dut!"

"Dut!"

Leon reattached his silencer and loaded his weapon with normal ammunition. With calculated precision, he eliminated two of the Liberated who had been searching for Rose. 'We found you,' he thought, realizing that these Liberated were specifically targeting her.

Concerned and worried, Leon pondered the trouble Rose had gotten herself into. 'What kind of trouble have you stumbled upon, Rose?' he thought anxiously.

Taking a deep breath, Leon stepped into the apartment and scanned the area. He swiftly ascended the stairwell to the second floor, his grip on his rifle tightening as he prepared for the dangers that awaited him on each level.

"Thud!"

"Thud!"

The silence was broken by sporadic footsteps from the upper floors, indicating the presence of liberated. With each step, Leon mentally braced himself for the imminent confrontation.

Reaching the second floor, Leon noticed a faint orange glow seeping through a partially opened door. He cautiously approached, peering through the gap to discover a room filled with liberated taking cover behind furniture. Without hesitation, he aimed his rifle and fired, swiftly dispatching the three Liberated with precise headshots.

"Dut!"

"Dut!"

Having cleared the second floor, Leon crouched low, his senses heightened. He listened intently, trying to discern the whereabouts of the remaining Liberated. Gunfire erupted from above, prompting him to make his way to the third floor. As he reached the landing, he caught sight of Liberated attempting to take cover behind a fallen bookshelf.

"Dut!"

"Dut!"

Reacting swiftly, Leon unleashed a hail of bullets, forcing the Liberated to retreat. However, the bookshelf provided only limited protection.

"Dut!"

"Dut!"

In the midst of the chaos, the Liberated fired back, their bullets narrowly missing Leon as he took cover behind a wall. as he returned fire, managing to hit some of the rebels in the leg, arm, and head. Eventually, the remaining Liberated were overwhelmed an killed, Leon proceeded to ascend to the next floor, his movements purposeful and precise.

"Bang!"

"Bang!"

On the fourth floor, Leon encountered Liberated who had set up a makeshift barricade using overturned furniture. Taking cover behind a wall, he carefully assessed the situation. Spotting a Liberated peering over the barricade, he lined up his sights and squeezed the trigger. The enemy fell to the ground, clutching his shoulder in pain.

"Ahh!"

"I have been hit."

The other Liberated retaliated, and Leon realized he needed to employ a different tactic. 'I'll use the Acidic Rounds,' he thought, quickly switching to the appropriate ammunition. Taking aim at the Liberated, he fired, hitting his targets accurately. The rounds dissolved the furniture, creating a cloud of acrid smoke falling on the liberated and causing them to scream in agony.

"Ahh!"

"Get this off of me!"

As the Liberated dissolved into nothingness, Leon pressed on, making his way to the fifth floor, before he made it to the fifth floor. multiple liberated with dark fire, Leon heard the sound of laser-like abilities.

"Ah, what kind of dog is that?" one of the Liberated exclaimed.

"I don't know, come here, doggie!" another replied, their curiosity mixed with trepidation.

Multiple were liberated in front of dark fire.

Suddenly, chaos ensued as dark fire and laser beam out of his eye at the liberated.

"Whom!"

"Lazer!"

"Ahh!"

"Help me there an evil dog!"

On the way up Leon heard the sound of dark fire lasers and bodies being sliced apart.

When he arrived on the fifth floor his body spilled apart head, leg, and arms bloody on the ground.

Leon rushed up to the sixth floor and the same thing again.

'Dark Fire, you don't have to kill them so fast,' he thought, his mind focused on finding a solution.

Leon continued forward again but as he walked past a room the door kick opened, and a liberated pushed Leon against the wall making him drop his gun.

"Ha, we got him now" Multiple liberated came out the door laughing.

Leon got up and squared his shoulder

The hallway quickly turned into a fierce hand-to-hand combat arena. The liberated exchanged blows, their skill on full display. Leon utilized his combat expertise, delivering precise strikes and parrying his opponent's attacks. With a swift twist of his body, he disarmed the enemy, retrieving his knife and swiftly neutralizing the liberated.

Moving quickly, Leon pressed on, the remaining floors becoming a blur of intense gunfights and close-quarters combat. He encountered liberated lurking in doorways, behind overturned furniture, and even hiding in darkened corners. Each confrontation tested his time, but he never wavered.

As he reached the Seventh floor, the sound of gunfire grew more distant, indicating that he was closing in on his primary liberated. The final confrontation awaited him on the tenth floor, the enemies making their last stand. Without hesitation, Leon burst through the door, rifle raised and finger on the trigger.

"Dut!"

"Dut!"

The room erupted into chaos as bullets whizzed past him. He returned fire, moving methodically and taking out liberation by one.

"My Lord, the Liberated are about to break into Rose's room!" Phoenix urgently informed him.

"Dammit, how much time do I have?" Leon asked, his voice filled with urgency.

"Only one minute and thirty seconds, My Lord," Phoenix replied.

"I'll have to make it work. I just hope they don't kill her," Leon muttered, running up the stairs to the eighth floor, if he loses Rose he will lose her technological skills.

The liberated charged at Leon, wielding a combat knife. Leon met him head-on, engaging in a furious hand-to-hand battle. The clash of steel and the grunts of exertion filled the room.

After a tense struggle, Leon gained the upper hand, disarming the liberated and delivering a decisive blow, slicing his neck The liberated fell to the ground, defeated.

On the tenth floor, Leon confronted multiple Liberated who fired relentlessly at him. With precise aim and quick reflexes, he eliminated them one by one, his normal ammunition proving effective.

Phoenix's voice cut through the tension, "Twenty seconds."

With limited time, Leon made a quick decision. Utilizing a disintegration round, he created a small explosion, effectively taking out some of the Liberated.

"Fifteen seconds," Phoenix counted down.

Leon sprinted towards the stairs, his breathing heavy and his leg throbbing with pain.

'Come on, move!' Leon shouted inwardly, urging himself forward despite the intense exertion.

"Seven, six, five, four..."

As Leon reached the second floor, he spotted a Liberated rebel aiming his gun into Rose's room.

"Three, two, one..."

Leon aimed to shoot but realized he had no ammunition left to shoot. Acting on instinct, he channeled his flux energy into his voice and let out a powerful scream.

"Ahh!"

The scream reverberated through the air, shattering glass and causing the walls to crack like spiderwebs. Although he hadn't been able to control the energy precisely, the scream was enough to cause the Liberated ears to bleed. Distracted and disoriented, the liberated turned towards Leon.

In that moment, a single gunshot resonated, and the Liberated a gunshot hole in the head, the liberated fell to the ground with a thud. Rose, who had rolled out of her room in her wheelchair, looked on with tear-filled eyes.

"Hey," Leon managed to say, standing there with a painful expression on his face. Exhausted and injured, he had given his all to ensure Rose's safety.

"Leon!" she shouted, her voice filled with worry. But her concern deepened when she saw Leon suddenly collapse, face-first onto the ground.
