Chereads / THE FURY OF ISABELLA / Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

Isabella reached for a white napkin to wipe some of the liquid off her lab coat after it spilled. She had spent the entire night in the lab setting it up, but she was only able to set up the equipment she absolutely needed to use right away. The remaining time was spent making some of the necessary tools for her job.

She stood up, took a syringe in her right hand, drew some warm mixture from the test tube, and injected it into a tiny metal needle-like object that had a narrow opening just big enough for the syringe to fit through.

She went through the process several times, filling ten of the metals with each syringe draw. She filled about 200, then neatly organized the metals into two rubber packs that fit into her back pocket. She completed the process of filling the pins in about two hours.

She made a mixture of a drug called Beryl, which belongs to the family of drugs known as benzodiazepines. After her Werewolf group conducted research and an experiment in France two years ago, Benryl production started. The drug was designed to put the victim to sleep and erase memories from the previous two hours.

She placed the rubber pack on a shelf which she had kept with the previously prepared substances.

Her wristwatch beeped, she looked at the screen as it streamed live the recording from the camera she installed in the compound of the house Lord Ben prepared for her.

The time was 7am and some of Lord's men were in the compound, obviously sent by Lord to check on her since she hadn't spoken to him since the last night and she was expected to move in that morning.

She took off the lab gloves and the lab mask she wore to avoid inhaling the dangerous gaseous substance and walked out to the sitting room. She picked up her phone as she sat on the sofa and dialed Lord Ben's phone number.

'Hello Isabella, I was about to call you. Where have you been? The call was promptly returned.

Yes, Lord, I anticipated your call. Isabella chuckled as she gave her response. You sent men to the house this morning, why?

"I tried all night last night to contact you to let you know about the house, but... "

"I was there last night; I already took everything I needed from the house. I appreciate you supplying the laboratory equipment I requested.

"Were you the one who restrained your men?" And where are you?' Lord asked with a note of frustration in his voice.

What kind of men are you referring to? With the exception of the cook I was carrying, I didn't see any of them. She responded.

The men I assigned to assist you were discovered there this morning bound back to back on two chairs with their eyes covered. Lord elucidated. "Lord," they claimed, "a lady tired them up." After letting out a long, wicked chuckle.

Isabella spoke. "I Don't think you brought those guys to work with me; I got rid of both of them in under two minutes," the speaker said.

'What? They belong to the most infamous gang in the nation and are some of the best in the town.

'Best? You've got to be kidding me if you think they couldn't even touch me as I handled them.

"See Isabella, they are not as skilled as you. It costs us much to bring them for you, and they are extremely excellent if you would only learn how to utilize them," the narrator said.

No issue, Lord, but I Don't need them any more. She concluded, "Bring two more better guys there today, I'll work with them without testing them," and tried to end the call.

When will you be arriving at the house? Lord enquired.

It's not safe for me to stay in that house, Isabella said after pausing for a moment. I am only permitted to use it as an office to meet with you or conduct other business.

But what about the arrangements I made there?

"I already took everything I needed; just leave the house as is; I'll use it when I need it." Any other unauthorized person I find there would perish; let the two new guys wait there for me this afternoon. She retorted by issuing a dire warning.

"Am I permitted to be there?" Only stay there if you're one of the two men working with me, the Lord questioned. she ended the conversation without giving him a chance to reply.

11.15am

Isabella admired the beauty of the reception walls as she sat with another visitor on the sofa, waiting patiently for Dr Bill. She carefully positioned her clothes and fixed the crimson tie that hid the ID hanging around her neck.

A few minutes later, Dr. Bill and two other men passed by while walking side by side.

After finishing their conversation and moving toward the front door, the men left the structure. When Dr. Bill heard his name, he turned around and started to walk away. Isabella was approaching him when he turned around to see her.

'Hey …' He smiled and greeted her as he saw her, trying to remember her name.

Sir, Kate Freddie, Isabella assisted him right away.

"Oh, Kate, I didn't realize you were already here."

She smiled and said, "I am sir. "About forty minutes ago," I arrived.

I'm sorry I kept you waiting, I see. He said "sorry,"

She said, "No problem, sir," while bowing slightly out of respect.

"Okay, follow me," he said, leading her down a long hallway.

Before they reached his office, which was close to the end of the block, they had to pass by a number of labs. He opened the door for her and followed after she entered.

He motioned for her to sit in the visitor's seat as he passed the table and went to his seat, saying, "Welcome to my office."

She replied, "Thank you, sir, and seemed to be admiring the look as she looked around the office. She focused her attention on the man as she turned to face him.

Okay, show me what you have in store for me. Dr. Bill said as he tapped a few keys on his computer keyboard without looking up at her.

"Here, sir." A hard cover notebook was brought out by Isabella and set on the desk.

Just a moment, he said, looking briefly at the notebook before turning his attention back to his computer.

Yes, sir.

He smiled at her and said, "I'm just trying to settle the welfare issues for our guests at the conference." 'I have to make arrangements for our African invitees because the two non-African speakers would stay at the governor's house.'

"Oh, good." Likewise, Isabella grinned. How is our minister doing over there? He's reportedly one of the speakers,

He is, indeed. He replied to her query, "He'll be staying in his City house when he comes over," and then picked up the book while holding back for the computer to execute a command. What exactly do we have then?

Isabella said, "It's research on cancer and how it can be cured permanently."

He only opened the cover page before dropping the book and returning to his computer. Before picking up the book once more, he held the mouse steady and clicked another set of instructions.

Permanent cancer treatment? He opened the cover page once more and remarked.

She watched as he once more dropped the book and went back to his work on the computer, saying, "Yes sir, through our local herbs."

The Doctor begged Isabella, "I'm sorry, I just have to resolve some things," but she just grinned back.

"Is the conference the main focus?"

I wouldn't have had time to..., yes. He was unable to finish his thought because the liquid had already been injected into the hand that was holding the mouse with a Benryl pin. As he dozed off, his head sank into his seat along with the rest of his body.

Isabella quickly rose from her chair and checked the office for any hidden cameras with a mobile device she had taken from her bag.

The test came back negative; there was neither a camera in the room nor a hole through which one could observe activities in the office.

As she started working on the computer, she moved the man's seat away from it and copied some files to her flash drive.

She finished going through the remaining computer files and was happy with the information after about fifteen minutes.

The woman dragged the man over to the table, where she set his head on his hand next to the desktop of the computer.

She left the building discreetly, taking care to avoid arousing anyone's suspicion. She took a taxi outside the gate and arrived at her office, where the house Lord was waiting.
