In the world of SUNARI the world was as large as Jupiter, The lands where green and brown with bountiful forests and sweltering deserts. Snow capped mountain peaks pierced the clouds and Dark blue oceans surrounded the lands.
The name sunari derives from the eldest daughter born from the emperor who conquered the main continent 1000 years ago. The Emperor claim to be born from the sun and with his noble bloodline he had powers to decimate any who stood before him.
Not much is known about that era but it was filled with war and bloodshed and the result being that the emperor conquered the entire continent, some kingdoms still existed but they were under his rule and their imperial families were exterminated.
The emperor who now ruled the entire continent crowned an empress who he said to have been born from the moon and was the only woman worthy enough to bear his offspring. A chaotic era later occurred in history so it is not known what exactly happened after the unification era.
Legend has it that the empress gave birth to a daughter fort who was the most beautiful person to have ever been born and on the day of her birth the clouds swirled and the winds raged forming a vortex around the imperial palace. The emperor named his first daughter sunari and declared that he would give her the sky.
Later the empress gave birth to two sons named Sunterra and sunocea who the emperor gifted the lands and the sea to. So with the emperor being born of the sun with his indomitable might and blazing radiance, the empress being born of the moon reflecting his radiance while having her own cool and calm charm having all the qualities befitting of an empress. And their children each outstanding and unique in their own ways.
The next part of history has a lot of lost information due to the sheer amount of war and destruction that occurred, it is said that between 20-60 years after the youngest prince was born both of the princes rebelled and waged war across the entire empire. There are a few theories as to why this occurred.
It was said that back then ancient martial arts allowed masters had the power to crush mountains and split seas with a single swing of their hand and could live for hundreds of years. The Emperor used his overwhelming might and sun born flames to extinguish his enemies and unify the continent.
The most prominent theory was that the emperor did not pass down his martial arts to his children, they grew up in the palace as a family and were later sent out to rule over their territories still under the rule of their father. The sons were not satisfied with this and as their father was very powerful he would live as long as or even may outlive them.
This meant that they had no chance of ruling over the continent and the emperor might even still be around when their children were adults. But the emperor was powerful and subdued all the kings of the land so rebellion was not likely to be successful.
But history told another tale and by either natural talent or interference from fallen royal families or extinguished clans both princes were able to cultivate martial arts and become masters eventually rebelling for control over the continent.
The oldest sister was was beyond the marriable age in the ancient times and was said to have been already married to a noble family of a compatriot of the emperor. Some people have theorized that one or both brothers may have been in love with sunari and that her marriage may have played an important a factor in the brothers decision to rebel.
War waged on both ends of the continent between the loyalists and the rebels, The emperor was always described as mighty , powerful, and wise but not many words such as kind or fair were associated with him.
An era of war filled with chaos and suffering ensued ending with the disappearance of the royal family members after the brothers encircled the imperial capitol and stormed the palace. Generals and soldiers believed that there must have been a traitor among their allies and everyone turned on each other.
Each member of the imperial family were very powerful and the fear of that power was deeply rooted into their subordinates to discourage disobedience. Many generals believed that they were fighting somewhere out of sight because the palace was empty and the fight between the princes and the emperor would be on a scale that would destroy the palace and capitol city of the empire.
And another point of suspicion was that there were signs of fighting but there was no bodies to be found and the empress was missing, surely the princes wouldn't slay their own mother even by accident that would severely damage their reputation to everyone. Later even sunari disappeared without a trace.
The fighting continued for a short period of time with people thinking that a member of the imperial family would come out victorious and take over the continent again. And as people waited and the fighting continued some though that the victor was injured and would come out later after they had healed to play it safe which would be understandable to prevent assassination.
So people kept waiting and the fighting cooled down until it eventually stopped and an unstable peace returned to the continent. The flames of war had ravaged the land burning many fields of crops and homes of commoners leading to a famine. Many boys and men had been conscripted or willingly joined the rebelling armies in hopes of gaining benefits and glory if they were fortunate enough.
After the rebellion ended with the disappearance of all the imperial family members influential figures from many factions gathered to discuss how the continent would be divided in the future. And as the emperor had united the entire continent many territories became inexorably linked to one another, any strict division of territories or irresponsible management could lead to the collapse of multiple territories and increased casualties of citizens.
After many deliberation and negotiations it was decided that a national government would be established to manage the unified continent and it would be divided into smaller states, republic's, or even kingdoms. But those who dared establish a kingdom had to have the strength to protect their title and as an added condition no one shall claim the title of king or emperor or they would be destroyed.
1000 years after the sun emperor unified the continent and the years of war, destruction and reconstruction thereafter. Development of technologies, laws and culture continued for hundreds of years, Due to the development of land, sea and air travel other smaller continents, islands and archipellos civilization expanded.
The industrial revolution, the cultural revolution, and the age of technology
Modern day sunari (who as the only member of the imperial family who was popular among the commoners for her beauty as well as the fact mentioning her name would not result in a death sentence, the world somehow became to be referred to as sunari)
The central government was the most powerful force ruling the continent managing the smaller government city states, noble clans who still had access to ancient martial arts and recently the corporations that have risen since the industrial revolution.
