Chapter 106 - Video Logs

This was still just a theory that Kita had came up with. He didn't have anything but his reasoning to put behind it. He didn't have any access to any of the research files related to the mission or anything. So he could only keep it to yourself. But it was still something to think about. Kita couldn't even fathom how the race responsible for the planets had achieved such a feat, or where they were. But if humanity achieved even a portion of those abilities, then they would no wonder rule much of the galaxy.

But Kita decided to throw everything to the back of his head. He was already standing at the entrance of the Lab. So he decided to not think about it for now.

He entered the Lab and was greeted with a pristine white room with neatly stacked rows of terminals, different equipment and lots of bits and pieces.

Contrary to what he had thought, the Lab was rather organized and everything seemed to be in it's place. It seemed that someone had taken the time to organize everything in the lab.

Kita was thankful to that person.

He began to look around the room, He didn't see anything that piqued his interest. All the terminals and the equipment were shut down. There wasn't much equipment to begin with. Just some generic ones that was needed for most labs.

The Lack of specialized equipment led Kita to believe that there weren't any serious research going on in here.

That wasn't necessarily a problem for him. In fact it was better. It gave him a blank slate to work with. He could buy and stack the lab as he wanted. He had quite a few equipment in mind, but that would need to wait. As some of them had a log wait time from their manufacturers.

He would also need to rebuild some equipment's himself. As only he had designed them to fit his exact needs. Like the UltraGravityBimetricSensor Array that Helen had borrowed from him. Although it technically belonged to him, The Military had confiscated the equipment. So he didn't have anything he had built with him and would need to rebuild all of them again.

Which was a bit troublesome as some of them used exceptionally rare exotics that couldn't be found easily.

Kita would need to keep an eye out to see if any of those exotics popped up in the market. He would need to spend quite a bit of money to acquire them. But that could come later.

Kita walked over to the obvious main terminal at the front of the lab, It was a bit terminal that basically announced that it was the main terminal in the lab.

He started the terminal and was greeted with a login screen.

That was troublesome. He didn't have the login info for the terminal. So it would need to be hacked apart.

So he gave Elena a call. She picked up shortly.

"Hey, can you hack into this terminal? I don't have the login information."

"Gimme a sec." She didn't said much and went on to do something on the side. Kita waited patiently while she hacked the terminal.

Kita could see that the Huge tower behind her was almost complete. It should be ready within a day.

"Done, password is ILoveBigSister<3 all lowercase, no spaces." She said with a smile.

"Huh? Why did you...." Before he could say anything further, she quickly cut off the call. Kita was fuming that she had set such a password, but he couldn't even vent his anger.

He didn't bother trying to call her again and logged into the terminal.

The first thing he did after he was in was to change the password to 12345. He didn't bother setting any complex password.

After that was done, he moved to check what the last user of the device was working on. He found a couple of file entries.

He began to check through them. It was mostly generic entries depicting what they discovered during their travels. From the looks of it, there weren't any serious research projects going on.

Looks like the previous researcher didn't bother starting any serious projects while they worked here. It made sense, as the previous guys weren't really focused on research. It was more likely that the whole research department was more because they wanted someone on hand if they happen to come across something interesting and couldn't make sense of it. Having a research onboard could be a lifesaver in such situations.

As Kita looked through a few more files, He came across the personal video logs of the previous researcher. His name was Dr. Jutat.

The name didn't ring a bell. So he probably didn't knew him.

The comments were interesting to read. It was always the comments or video logs where one could find the greatest amount of insights into a research project. As the researchers tended to speak out or write down their thoughts directly. One could guess and infer a lot of thing by going through these.

Like the one Kita was currently watching for example.

The person in the video should be Dr. Jutat.

"I've tried to Analyze the Cube. But the strange thing about it is, that the material doesn't register in the scanner. The scanner doesn't identify that there's something there. If there's nothing for it to scan, what will it scan?" The man threw his hands in the air.

That was true, there were a lot of exotics that could escape being registered in generic scanner machines. Kita knew of quite a few such exotics. It was likely that the cube in question had a protective layer of one such exotic.

In another log, the guy said,

"It's strange, I've tried to pry it open after the captain accidentally activated it. But no matter what I try, it won't nudge any further. It started to flicker last night. I don't know what it was doing, but it stopped after I tapped it." He said as he held out small glowing cube in front of the camera.

Kita's eyes almost popped out of it's socket when he looked at the Cube in question.

He had seen these before! He had seen these back in B1!
