Kita didn't plan to stay in the Nuart system for too long. There was a lot to do, So after everything was ready and they had bough some basic supplies, and some essential fuel, The Jeager was ready to leave this system.
Kita stood on the bridge and oversaw the expansive wide area view of the front bow of the ship. The View wasn't real as the Bridge was actually situated quite deep inside the hull of the ship. The view in front of him was projected instead. It had the added benefit that it could be changed to show the view of any other part of the Jeager. But for now, the frontal bow was good enough.
Noel approached him from behind as he said.
"Sir, We're ready to depart. We've already gotten permission from the local traffic control and everything is good to go."
"Alright, then" Kita gave a nod.
"Take her out." He instructed.
Noel moved forward and said.
"Calculate the trajectory to Lagrange point. Chart out a path to the Handeln System in the central District."
As the acting captain, Noel was quite adapt at giving out instructions. He needed to be in order to serve his role.
"Detaching from the dock, Initiating the reverse thrusters." The operator in charge of the propulsion said as she clicked on a few buttons in front of her.
As the reverse thrusters started, Kita could feel that the ship had started to back out from the dock. They needed to back out a bit before they would be clear of the dock and could start going forward.
So after about 10 minutes, she spoke again.
"Turning down the reverse thrusters. Starting sub light engines." She said as he again started to press a few buttons and adjusting different things.
Kita could see that they had stopped going backwards and had started to go forward.
"Adjusting course." Another operator spoke from beside the first one. He was responsible for steering the ship. He adjusted the course of the ship, so that the automated controls of the sub light engines could adjust their direction.
The Jeager was officially clear of the docks and was headed towards the nearest Lagrange point. Which was quite far away. It was near outer system, so it would take a bit of time for them to reach there.
"How long till we reach the Lagrange point?", Kita asked.
"18 Hours." One of the operators replied to his query.
There were about 5 different people who were working together to drive the ship. They needed to be on it and present till the ship entered FTL. Only then could they take a break. So for the next 18 hours, they would be here. Constantly monitoring every activity of the Jeager, and adjusting things as needed.
As a popular System, there were a lot of traffic n the system, In order to make sure that there were no accidents, There were traffic controllers of the system. They dictated which ship would take which route to reach their destinations and what not. Although it added a lot of extra travel time, but it made everything safer for everyone.
The Jeager would follow it's assigned route to it's target Lagrange point and then transition to FTL.
Kita didn't need to be present here for everything. So he decided to go do something else.
He left Noel in charge of the Bridge and walked out.
He entered a pod that would take him to the communications section of the ship.
Elena had boarded the ship earlier and was busy settling in. She would be in charge of keeping the ship safe from any types of Cyber attacks and hacking.
After Kita entered her office, he saw that she was busy with setting up her own setup. Kita saw a huge computer a lots of other bits and pieces spread on the floor. Kita walked carefully as to not step on anything important.
Noticing Kita approaching her, She looked up from the part she was working on.
"Kita! What brings you here? As you can see, I'm still not open for business. Come back in a day or two."
"I see that you bought your own setup! looks impressive."
"I know right? This here is my baby. I call her Julia" She said as he patted the huge tower beside her.
"What kind of device is this?" Kita couldn't identify it. But whatever it was, it seemed that it was quite a handful to setup.
"That's a secret. But rest assured, this here is the most capable single unit hacking device in this whole system. I custom made it myself. Everything from the Hardware to the software, everything about this is custom made and serves a very specific purpose. In the wrong hands, she is capable of taking down the communications of a whole planet by itself. In the right hands, she is capable of cutting off an entire system from outside communications.", She said proudly as she patted the huge tower. It seemed that she was quite proud of Julia.
"That's really impressive! But is it safe to bring it along for the journey?", Kita asked cautiously.
"I'm not leaving her behind for someone to come and use her for the wrong purposes. She's coming with me!" She said defensively.
"Fine with me!" Kita didn't argue further.
"Anyway, did you bring the package with you?" She quickly asked.
"Yes, Here you go" Kita took handed over the package that he had picked up at the station.
"Ah! Finally! Now Julia will be at least twice as powerful!" Elena said as he marveled at the packaged. Supposedly whatever was inside would boost Julia.
"Anyway, I wanted to talk to you about something."
"Shh, all of that talk will come later. I need to setup Julia first. Go away. Come back in a few days. We'll talk then!"
Elena kicked him out of the office.
He wanted to get some rest before the ship reached the Lagrange point anyway. So he decided to go back to his room for now.
