Kita quickly racked his brain to figure out how he could make him talk. So far, he had failed to even get a single response from the guy except for the pained moans he occasionally left out. From his behavior, it was clear that he was waiting for his friends to come and save him.
That meant that he knew that his friends were not far behind and that he could just hold out till they reached him and saved him from his current predicament. So even if he didn't spill any information to Kita, he would probably live.
That's why he kept his mouth shut even after he had a few holes in his body.
He simply wasn't afraid enough.
Kita looked at the guy on the floor with a critical look. He had put 3 holes in him, and he still had the wits to think and make rational decisions. Whichever organization he belonged to had truly put effort in training him.
This was less than ideal. But the situation was still solvable. He bent down as he came near the guy. Kita pointed the gun at his temple before speaking.
"Last chance, are you gonna tell me who your employer is or should I put a bullet in your skull? From the looks of it, you're not wearing any head gear, Although it wouldn't matter in this range. All I need to do is to pull this trigger and boom." Kita ended in a high tone.
Although the man quivered under his pressure, it didn't seem that he was ready to speak yet. Kita expected as much. He hadn't spoken till now, no way he was gonna speak now.
Kita didn't say anything further, He aimed his gun at the other arm before pulling the trigger. The arm went numb.
Kita the put the gun inside his jacket and then said.
"Noir, come. Let us depart. It doesn't look like we're gonna get anything from him anyway. And I'm not in the mood the kill someone this morning. Let's go before his friends arrive."
Noir quickly jumped onto his shoulder. And Kita quickly took long strides as he walked he exited the alley way.
*****
The man on the ground sighed in relief as he saw Kita quickly leave after keeping his gun. This was bad, his team had been tasked with following this person and monitoring his every move. But they had been discovered, and now he was in this state.
Although they had just lost their target and he had been badly injured, not all was lost, they knew where he was staying. They could just go capture him there.
But first his teammates needed to come and patch him up.
It was a good thing the bullets had missed his important organs. He wasn't bleeding much and whatever little he did bleed, his special suit kept everything tight and secured. He would be fine for now.
After a while, he heard multiple footsteps approach him. He quickly looked at their direction. It was his teammates.
"C32, Where's the target?", the team leader asked as soon as he came near. He had a gun in his hands ready to fire at a moment's notice.
"He left. Help me, I'm shot."
"I can see that, J89, Fix him up." The leader instructed the other guy that was with him.
They didn't have any names, The organization didn't let them call each other by their names. They had codes assigned to them, which everyone referred to them as.
The Other guy brought out a small cannister. It was a first-aid nanobot cannister. After spraying it, it would enter his body and accelerate healing.
His leader bent down.
"Tell me what happened." His tone sharp.
"I was ambushed, I presumed that he had already exited the alley. But he had laid in await. Expecting my arrival. He shot me at the calf from behind before immobilizing me."
"Did he ask you anything?"
"Yes, He asked who our employer was."
"And what did you say?", The leader asked in a sharp tone. This was critical.
"I didn't utter a word. He shot me a few more times as he repeated the question. But I made sure to remain mum."
"Hmm, did he see your face?"
"No he didn't. He didn't bother to."
"So, he just let you live just like that?" The leader wasn't convinced. There seemed to be something amiss.
"Ye..... yes. I'm telling the truth. He just left after not getting an answer from me."
The man looked at the leader. He didn't know why the leader was suddenly suspecting him.
The Leader paced around for a bit as he looked like he was thinking about something.
He suddenly stopped and pulled out his gun and pointed it at C32.
"Leader.... What are you doing?" The man asked in panic. He was fully immobilized, so he couldn't even defend himself. Now his leader was pointing his gun at him.
"You see, Your story is a bit too convenient. The guy ambushed you. You kept mum, but for some reason, he still let you live. Doesn't it seem too easy? Tell me C32, What did you say to him?" The man asked in a flat questioning voice. He was clearly suspicious of his subordinate.
"I.... I'm telling you! I didn't say anything! He truly just left after seeing that I wasn't gonna answer to him anyway. Believe me.." The man pleaded. He understood now why Kita had let him live right now.
He knew that letting him live would make other's suspicious of what he might've leaked for his life. But he had done no such thing! He was being framed!
"If you're not gonna tell me then I have no other choice but to kill you. Sorry, it's nothing personal. You know the rules. Farewell." The leader spoke as he about to pull the trigger.
"I'm telling the truth! I didn't say anything trust meeeeee...." The man screamed, there was nothing he could do nothing to defend himself. He quickly closed his eyes.
*Bang*
*Bang*
The man quivered, expecting the pain that would come. But for some reason it didn't come. He heard two thump noises as if two bodies fell.
He slowly opened his eyes as he looked forward.
His leader and the guy known as J89 was laying on the floor. With their eyes still wide open and blood coming from their skull.
Standing behind them was their target.
