The Netros was basically a budget option for a battleship. It was cheaper to build than a battleship, Cheaper to maintain, and cheaper to operate. They didn't have to pay too much taxes to the Authorities. It offered almost the same level of performance as a low-cost battleship. Except for the fact that it could only have 3 turrets.
Even Cheap battlecruisers could have up to 5 Turrets based on the sizes! That was a really good number! But a ship like the Netros could only have a maximum of 3 medium-sized turrets. So while it was cheaper to build and maintain when compared to a battleship, It was costlier when compared to a normal cruiser. That was the caveat.
"You said it has 2 FTL drives right? Which models are those?", Kita asked Osrtich.
"Yes, This is one of the most impressive features of the Netros. It has 2 FTL drives of the 24th generation, The model is 34D87S54F from the Kbom Heavy industries. The best in the game."
"Hmm… Quite impressive.", Kita said.
Although the FTL drives were from a bit older generation. The 24th generation was quite impressive. They performed decent performance for the amount of Power they used. While Kita could easily get them replaced, For now they would suffice.
"Tell me more about the ship."
"Sure, Here's an internal layout of the ship. As you can see, most of the engineering related compartments and sections are near the rear of the ship. The Command center is near the middle top of the ship. It's divided into 70 floors. With two dedicated transit floors. It's a pretty standard layout.", Osritch explained as the projection changed from different views of the internals of the ships.
As Kita watched and analyzed the ship a bit more, he became pretty impressed with what he saw. It was a pretty good ship overall. It had decent firepower as well as Decent armor. The two FTL drives meant that it could disengage from an unwanted fight as soon as it could reach a Lagrange point. It was a pretty solid package overall. But the only glaring problem Kita could see was it's sublight propulsion speeds. It was really slow. It took quite some time for it to get upto speeds after it exited FTL. That meant any enemies that might be waiting for them had more than enough time to approach and target them. This was a pretty bad situation.
Although, Kita didn't know what will happen in the future. He wanted to be prepared for any unforeseen events that might pop up. He didn't want to get caught with his pants down. For that reason, Although, he found the Netros to be an overall pretty good package. His heart didn't agree with him.
As Kita contemplated it for a bit, He weighed in the pros and cons. After a some more consideration, he decided against it. So he decided to move on.
"Although the Netros is a pretty good ship, It is a bit slow for my liking. Do you have anything else you can show me?"
"But Of course." Osritch said as he began to show Kita one ship after another. Countless ships began to scroll through the projections. Each one better than the other.
They both sat there and discussed 10 different ships that day. But at the end of it all, They hadn't managed to find one that fitted his needs.
"Mr. Thiels. Could you give me a few days worth of time. I'll see if I can find a ship that matched your criteria more closely. As we've already narrowed it down pretty much, I believe finding the perfect ship for you is only a matter of time. So, if you give my your contact information. I could get back to you at the earliest." Osritch said.
He and Kita gone through about 10 different ships today. Yet they weren't able to find a suitable ship. Although it may seem like a huge amount of ship, and Kita may appear as a hard to satisfy customer, This was a pretty normal occurrence for Osritch. He had faced countless customers who were really particular about their requirements of a ship. Although it had taken him some time, at the end, He had always managed to sell a ship to them. So He didn't worry about finding the ship for Kita. He already had some ideas on where he could find such a ship. He just needed some time.
"Yeah, we could do that. Here's my contact information." Kita gave him his contact address and where he was living. After that, he got up to leave.
"Please look forward to my call. I am sure I will find the perfect ship for you.", Osritch said as he also got up, he extended his arms to shake Kita hands as he said.
"Well I will be looking forward to it then.", Kita said with a reserved smile. Although he was a bit bummed out that he hadn't been able to find a ship today. But Osritch seemed optimistic enough. So he decided to call it a day for today and let Osritch work his magic. Hopefully he'd be able to find something decent.
Kita walked out of the dealership as he said goodbye to Osritch. He headed towards the station that would take him back.
After he got into another shuttle and headed back to the station.
After getting off the shuttle, he began to walk towards the direction of his hotel. But suddenly he felt hungry. So he decided to go and get something to eat. He entered into a restaurant and grabbed a Foot Long. He began to walk as he was eating. As he walked towards the hotel with his sandwich in his hand, he looked around him. People were going to and from. Everyone was busy doing their own things. Nobody really had any time to notice anyone around them.
In this fast-paced environment, He felt like a turtle. Going through life at a slower pace than everyone else. He quite liked this feeling. It made him feel calm inside.
