Chapter 68 - Silent War

As THS Shore rushed back to the Bican system. Unbeknownst to them, The event that had made the Shore turn around from it's mission had spread throughout military causing a panic among many different groups and wings of the military.

People in the know were shocked at the level of destruction on the planet. One had to know exactly how much energy it took to burn and destroy a planet of that size. It took an immense amount of energy to begin with. But all that energy needed to be properly utilized for it to have the most impact as possible.

They wanted to know what had really happened on the planet. So many different parties began to inquiry about the events and asking for the data from the shore.

The Shore as a whole was hardly an unified organism. There were many different parts of it. There were countless people working aboard it. As it was on a completely different but really important mission till now, many different interested parties had planted their spies and agents aboard it. So when an event of this magnitude had happened, it leaked fast to the related parties.

As everyone learned about what had happened, they wanted to get their hands on the sensor data from the shore. But Dr. Kbom had all the data related to the event under tight lockdown. But that didn't let the spies and agents to try and get them anyway.

A silent war had broken on aboard the shore. One that was being fought in the shadows. One which only the individuals involved knew about. Everyone wanted to be the first party to get their hands on the data. That meant sabotaging the other parties. Everyone tried their best to get their data on their hands. But despite their exceptional skills and ability, Many of them failed to get their hands on the data.

But that didn't mean that all of them failed. A few had successfully gotten the data despite it being under tight lock-down. They quickly sent back this data to their employers.

The organizations who got their hands on the data quickly put up their own people to analyze and break down the data. There was a lot of data to begin with. The Shore had recorded all sorts of data with it vast array of sensors. It had all the data right from the moment of impact. Much of this data was still in raw form. So all of it needed to be processed and plotted for any of it to make sense.

In a secret research facility, Dr. Luna quickly walked through in hurry. She had just received news that the data from the Shore was just coming in. This was a great development!

She had been racking her brain for the past few weeks over the developments on B1. How could a super planet of that scale could be destroyed and split in half so easily? That was the question she was racking her brain over. She had spend countless sleepless nights agonizing over this question. But no matter what he thought of, nothing ever made sense. The only way to find out what had happened was to take a look at the data and footage by herself. But she couldn't get their hands on any of them. The shore was keeping it's lips tight on the subject.

But fortunately, the spies of her organization had gotten their hands on the data. And now she could scour over it to her heart's content.

As she entered the Lab, she quickly moved towards her desk. She said to her assistant behind her.

"Quickly, begin to process and plot the data. Start the analysis as soon as the data is ready. Many people are already ahead of us. We need to work fast."

"On it." Her assistant said as she moved to her respective desk.

Dr. Luna turned back and looked at the actual footage of the impact. There were multiple high resolution videos in front of her. Although the footages were from mutiple angles. But all of the cameras were on the shore. So overall, there footage didn't have much variation between them.

She stared at the screen as she played one.

A tiny speck that represented a missile zapped though space in incredible speeds. Soon it went past the range the cameras could see and the camera focused back on the planet after that. As the seconds went by, the screen suddenly flashed bright as there was only light.

Once the light dimmed down, she could see a burnt planet that clearly featured a separation in the middle. The planet burnt with intensity to match with a red dwarf. There were countless objects that were thrown into space from the blast. Countless object flowed out of the planet and hit different things.

At the end of all of this, She was left speechless. Her brain had stopped working for a moment as she took in the events. Her mind couldn't comprehend how a single missile was able to not just destroy a whole planet but also split the planet in Half!

She looked at the official explanation from the shore on what had happened. It said that B1 had a special feature known as lines running throughout the planets. The lines carried immense amounts of energy through it. The explosion from the missile seemed to have destroyed the lines and caused it to release the energy inside them. And was the cause for the such an explosion.

"So, it wasn't the missile that was the cause of such destruction? But to carry such amounts of energy throughout the planet? What are these lines thingy?"

She began to look at the other reports of the lines and everything related to them. She began reading on the lines, The Metallic trees, the Forests, the Monolith. She began to reading on the planet more and more. The more she read, the more she regretted that she wasn't there to see everything by herself.

Then she came across the reports of the deaths of all the researchers on the planet. She learned that all the researchers were killed in some kind of anomaly instantly. Specially their leader, The way Dr. Helen was killed sent chills through her spine.

Till now she only knew that a single missile or a secret weapon had caused the destruction of a whole super planet. But after reading through all the reports, she was a bit glad that she wasn't the on that planet.

As she read more and more. She got the gist of the situation. Dr. Helen was the wife of the head researcher aboard the Shore. And in the grief of losing his wife, Dr. Kita had gone against all the orders and fired a missile that had resulted the destruction of the planet.

"So He destroyed the whole planet to avenge his wife?", She murmured.

"Yes, quite the romantic isn't he?" someone said from behind her.

This brought her out of her trance and she turned around to look at who it was.

It was her boss, Dr. Yriggs who was standing behind her.

She quickly stood up and greeted him.

"Dr. Yriggs!"

"It's quite admirable isn't it? The guy avenged his wife in the most simplest way he knew, but it produced a boom that shook the entire empire."

"Indeed.", Dr. Luna could only nod at the remarks.
