Chapter 65 - A Long Meeting

"Have you heard about Dr. Kita?"

"Yeah, I can't believe he did that!"

"He destroyed that whole planet with a single missile! I can't imagine how he managed to accomplish that!"

"I've got a friend in the labs, He told me that it's almost impossible. They have no idea how he managed that."

"Maybe it's a new kind of weapon system?"

"That's possible. Maybe he was working on some kind of super weapon prior to this."

"I wonder who this weapon was meant for."

Conversations like this spread out aboard the Shore. Everyone was talking about the destruction of B1 and how 1 person single handedly destroyed a whole planet.

Everyone had their own theory on how he had managed to accomplish that.

Some thought it was a brand new super weapon meant for the aliens.

Some thought it was a highly calculated strike that resulted in the destruction of the planet.

Some thought it was just a lucky fluke.

But no matter what they thought, the results were undeniable. All life on B1 had be completely destroyed and the planet itself was cracked into two. Both of the parts remained close enough for now. But in the very near future, it could be turned into dust by a star or something.

One of the most interesting parts of this event was the planet itself. The planet wasn't a run of the mill planet. It was a super planet that boasted a couple of times the size and mass of the earth.

Everyone knew that the bigger the object, the harder it was to destroy it. Kita being able to destroy a planet of this scale meant that smaller planets like Humanities Home planet was nothing in front of him.

Kita had managed to do something that no one really even thought was possible. So as some of the crew thought about the implications of the latest event. They shuddered at the thought of this being pointed at a planet like the earth. All life would get destroyed in a matter of seconds.

This made the future even bleaker for some. But not everyone thought like that. People like Dr. Kbom and York. Who knew what was probably going on, weren't fretting over a possible new super weapon.

"I've checked over the data, It matches your predictions. All of the energy stored inside the millions of kilometers worth of Lines were spontaneously released. That caused it to violently explode and destroy everything. Also, as we know that the lines ran throughout the whole planet, the explosion might have also caused the planet to crack in half. "

York reported to Dr. Kbom who was turned away from him. He had a Data pad on his hand that had a compilation of all the data.

"So, whatever payload that fritzer had wasn't the cause of this?", Dr. Kbom asked without turning back.

"Highly, unlikely. The payload simply wouldn't be powerful enough. There just isn't enough volume inside the frizter to deliver any sort of payload that could an explosion on this scale."

"So he found a way to release the energy stored inside the lines huh."

"That's my best guess."

"Good, This is better than some planet destroying super weapon. I can work with this."

Dr. Kbom sighed a relief. He was afraid that the old fogeys would think that Kita had somehow developed a super weapon that was capable of destroying mega planets such as B1. He wouldn't have been able to save Kita if that was the case. The would've taken him to some unknown research base and basically make him hand over the tech.

But fortunately, It didn't seem like that was the case. Kita hadn't developed some kind of super weapon. Instead, He had found a way to use the natural resources of the planet to basically detonate it like a bomb. Which wasn't really a replicable feat. This fact alone made Kita a lot less problematic.

He would still stand trial for breaking the rules and firing a warhead without permission, But that was still manageable. Dr. Kbom with his power wasn't about to let his star pupil destroy his own career. So he was prepared to do whatever it was needed to save Kita.

Dr. Kbom turned and looked towards York who was standing in the middle of the room.

"I'll go have a meeting with the council. Hopefully, they'll see Kita in a less hostile light after they see the analysis. Wish me luck York."

"Good Luck Dr. Kbom.", York gave a small smile as he watched Dr. Kbom walk into a special communication chamber. Whatever that was about to happen in there was top secret. And would decide Kita's fate.

This made York anxious. He became more anxious whenever he thought about Kita's future. He didn't know that losing Helen had such an impact on him. If he knew what Kita was about to do, he wouldn't have left him alone.

He got the feeling that there was something off about Kita the last time they met, But never in a million years would he have thought that Kita was thinking of pulling a stunt like this.

York Looked at the communication chamber with a heavy heart. If Dr. Kbom failed to convince the Council that Kita wasn't a threat, then they would probably take him under their own custody. When that happened, Even Dr. Kbom couldn't do anything to save him. This was the last chance they had to try and save Kita.

York hoped in his heart that Dr. Kbom would successfully be able to convice them that whatever Kita did was just a fluke. Cause if anyone had the full image of the data, they would know in a secound that there was a few parts of the data that contradicted the theory he and Dr. Kbom had came up with. If someone from the council took a closer look, then they would know that the energy stored inside the Lines couldn't be released that easily.

The Lines were a really special existence that defied a lot of rules in physics and energy transmission. But one of the key part of them was that they were highly stable. If a part of the lines was cut or destroyed, they simply wouldn't combust. The part of the line would simply be deactivated and the energy inside them would vanish like it was never there to begin with.

Whatever Payload Kita had inside the Frizter was able to negate this effect of the lines and release the raw energy that was stored inside them. And that was what probably caused a chain reaction that destroyed the planet.

This Unknown Payload was still a mystery to him and everyone else aboard the Shore. All except for Kita.

York hoped that the council wouldn't look too closely and figure this small detail out. Cause that would only make things harder.

York stood there as he waited Dr. Kbom to get out of the meeting with the council. He knew this was gonna be a long meeting. But he waited nonetheless.
