Kita quickly headed towards the pod stations after he left the bar. As he was about to enter a Pod however, he got several notifications on his Comm. Kita quickly looked towards it and checked what the notifications were about.
The Funeral was going start in 15 Minutes. So everyone was requested to moved towards Hanger No. 8 to join the ceremony.
"15 Minutes…" Kita needed to wait until all the key personnel like the Captain, and the other officers left before he could enter the bridge.
He calculated everything again in his mind. It would take him about 3 more minutes to reach the bridge. But he couldn't be sure that all the key personnel had already left by then. So he would wait until the ceremony had already began before he entering the bridge.
Kita knew that the Bridge wouldn't be fully empty. Some of the personnel would be left behind to monitor for any possible threats. Kita would need to subdue them.
Only after doing these things would Kita be able to Access the Turret console and would be able do what he had set out to do.
As Kita's pod zapped through, He could see many other pods going in the opposite direction to his. They were all headed towards the Ceremony.
Kita soon reached his destination. As he got out of the Pod, he saw Captain Huges approaching from the direction of the bridge.
"Oh No…" This was a problem.
Before Kita could hide, he was already spotted by the Captain.
"Hey, Dr. Kita. Did you find Holland?"
Kita couldn't get out of it, So he decided to play along.
"Yes, I found him. We just finished out talk."
"Good, Let's head towards the ceremony then.", Holland said as he began to walk towards the Pod.
"Captain, You can go ahead. I have something to do. I'll head there soon"
"Oh. Ok then. See you soon." It seemed like the captain didn't suspect anything.
Kita saw captain Huges before he started walking towards nearby bathroom. He decided to hide there for the remaining time.
Kita walked around the general vicinity of the Bridge after he saw captain Huges off. He didn't enter the bridge though.
When it was time, Kita pulled out a small firearm from his tool belt. This wasn't the lethal kind. He had loaded it with tranquilizer shots that would knock out the person.
Kita looked at his comm again. The ceremony should've already began by now.
He stood before the doors to the Bridge as he contemplated what he should expect inside.
According to his knowledge. Inside should be 5 people in total. 3 Monitoring crew who monitored different parts of the ship. And 2 security guards.
The latter would pose the most threat to him. He needed to knock them out first. The tranquilizer won't work on them as the guards were covered in armored exo-suite. The tranqs wouldn't be able to penetrate through the armor.
Kita knew that so he had another plan for them.
Kita took a deep breath before he entered into the bridge.
As soon as he entered. He looked around. Everyone else in the bridge also looked at him.
He noticed the positioning of everyone on the bridge.
The 3 officers were on their stations. As expected. But the guards weren't near the entrance as he had expected them to be.
Anyway, he needed to improvise.
As he was about to take is first step, one of the officers asked.
"Dr. Kita, surprised to see you here. Everyone is at the funeral. Shouldn't you also be there?", He asked in a questioning gaze.
"Yes, I went there, But Dr. Kbom sent me to check on something. It's urgent. I'll be at my terminal."
"I see.. Okay.", The officer didn't say anything further and turned towards his own terminal. Kita noticed he was watching the funeral as well as other metrics of the ship on the projection in front of him.
This was good. His presence didn't raise any alarms.
Kita spun into action.
He began to walk towards his terminal. As he approached the first guard on his path towards the terminal. He took out a small button like object from one of his pockets.
He remained cautious so as to not alert the guard.
As he neared the guard, he walked passed him from the behind. While walking by, He pressed a small button on the object and quickly flicked it towards the guard. The small object stuck to his exo-suit without alerting the guard. Kita went on to sit in his chair.
He tried to maintain a calm expression. As if nothing was going on. But his heart raced as he waited for the moment.
"Ahhh…" Just a few seconds later, the guard screamed in pain before suddenly dropping to the ground.
The Button had delivered a really small amount of really high voltage shock to his armored suit. That caused the powered armor to size operations and it shut down suddenly. This caused the guard to fall down to the ground. He was still unaware of what had happened.
Everyone suddenly looked towards the guard who fell down in alarm.
Kita was the first to react.
He quickly got up from his seat and then walked towards him.
He kneeled down and asked the guard.
"Are you okay? What happened?"
"I'm not sure. The suite suddenly seized up. I can't move." The guard spoke.
"Huh? It suddenly sized up?", Kita put on a questioning expression.
The other guard had also sprung into action as soon as he saw him fall. So as he came to the side. He also kneeled down beside kita and asked the lying guard.
"What happened?"
Kita was the one to answer.
"He's saying that his suit suddenly lost power."
"Huh, That's weird. Let's try rebooting it." The other guard said as he began to turn over the laying guard.
As he was about to turn him over, He didn't notice Kita taking out another small button and sticking it on his armor.
This time, the timer was faster.
Just a few seconds after Kita removed his hand from the suite, There was another yell, and the other guard also fell to the ground.
As the officers saw the other guard also fall, they looked at Kita. Only to see him pointing a gun towards them.
It didn't take a genius to figure out what was going on.
Kita had disabled their armors and was now pointing a gun towards them for some reason.
"Dr. Kita, Wh…." Before one of them could ask a question. Kita quickly fired 3 shots . They each hit their targets and knocked them out.
Kita looked at the knocked out officers before looked down.
His eyes met with the guards who were staring at him in panic. They couldn't do anything as their disabled armors prevented them from even moving let alone stand up and stop him.
"Dr. Kita, What is the meaning of this?" One of the guards asked Kita as he looked at him directly in the eye.
"Don't worry, they're merely knocked out. They'll wake up in about 30 minutes." Kita said a off handed tone.
Kita didn't waste any more time, and moved towards the War Console. This was where one would control the turrets from.
Kita took out the cloned card from his pocket and entered it into the machine. He wasn't 1oo% sure it would work. But he had enough faith in him.
Fortunately, The card worked. And Kita gained access to the Console.
Kita quickly pressed a few buttons that loaded a specific warhead from the storage onto Turret number 1. This was the warhead that carried the Anti-Matter Payload.
He then pointed the turret towards the planet and punched in the coordinates of the Monolith.
He waited a few seconds for the turret to finish positioning and locking in on the target.
When it was done with this. It gave a green signal that it was ready to fire.
As Kita was about to press the big red launch button, he hesitated for a bit. For some reason, he felt like he was doing something really wrong.
He looked around the bridge. His eyes suddenly locked onto a specific terminal. This was Helen's terminal. This was where she usually performed her duties from when she was in the bridge.
His thoughts suddenly drifted into her memories. He began to remember how she obsessed about plants. And how she always needed to go on the next dangerous thing. As he was thinking about her, He suddenly remembered how she was mutilated. The scene where her floating body was folded multiple times onto itself became clear as day.
The One responsible for her death was the monolith. Kita didn't care if it was a machine or a living being. It took Helen from him. So He was going to destroy it. This increased his determination.
He looked back at the red launch button. And he moved to push it as he murmured.
"This for you. My Love."
As his hand was inches away from the button, the doors to the bridge opened and many different guard poured in.
"Dr. Kita don't press the button. Move away from the console.", One of the guards spoke.
Dr. Kbom, Captain Huges, Lieutenant Holland all appeared from behind them.
"Kita, What are you doing? Move away from the console.", Dr. Kbom said in a booming voice. His tone conveyed his authority in that order.
'Shit, I wasted too much time.', Kita thought to himself before quickly moving his hands as he pressed the button.
"KITA!", this time it was the captain.
The guard all fired at him at the same time.
What they fired wasn't bullets. It was a gel like substance that would restrict his movement upon contact. But it seems they were a bit late.
The ship shook a bit as one of the turrets fired with a booming noise.
