Chapter 31 - Being Stressed

A nightmarish figure appeared in the doorway of the dining room. It was Lily Avril.

Today, she was wearing a black, low-cut dress that revealed her deep cleavage. Her slender legs were wrapped in white stockings. The simple pure color combination made her look charming and dangerous. As she walked, her skirt revealed just enough to make any man go crazy.

Just by standing there, she became the center of attention in the restaurant. Almost all the male gazes were focused on her.

Aiden almost instinctively wanted to leave, but Lily was already walking toward him.

"Aiden, what a coincidence meeting you here."

Lily smiled as she came to Aiden's side. There was an unfathomable look in her eyes.

"Yes, yes." Aiden stuttered nervously. He stood up and pulled Jessica, who was still eating.

"Well, we still have something to do. We'll get going first."

Unaware of his wariness, Jessica shook off his hand unhappily. "I haven't finished yet," she muttered.

"You can eat it later…" Aiden was anxious. On the one hand, he was afraid of Lily. On the other hand, he was worried that Jessica would be hurt.

"There's no hurry." Lily sat beside Jessica with a smile. She looked her up and down and praised her. "What a cute little girl."

However, Jessica wasn't paying attention. She snorted and lowered her head to continue eating the chicken wings.

"You've got character." Lily's smile deepened as she looked up at Aiden. "Is this your sister?"

"Yes…" Aiden was about to nod when Jessica suddenly threw away the half-eaten chicken wing in her hand and shouted, "I'm his fiancée!"

For a moment, everyone in the shop looked over. When they saw the situation clearly, they all looked at him with disdain.

Normally, Aiden would have felt awkward, but now his heart tightened as he saw Lily's eyes flash with an inexplicable ferocity.

Without any hesitation, Aiden quickly covered Jessica's mouth and apologized profusely. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry. This girl has been spoiled."

Lily gave him a half-smile and said, "Oh, it's quite special."

With that, Lily stood up and left.

It wasn't until her figure disappeared that Aiden heaved a sigh of relief. Like a deflated ball, he collapsed heavily in the chair, his heart filled with the joy of surviving a calamity.

In those short three minutes just then, he wanted to get up and run with Jessica in his arms several times, but if he did that, Lily might not be the only dire beast that would be attracted.

The little girl did not know what just happened. She returned to her seat and took a big bite of the chicken wing as if she was venting her anger. As she ate, she muttered softly, "Bad woman. You're wearing so little and all you know is to seduce men…"

Aiden didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Where did this little girl get so many adult thoughts from all day long?

"Hurry up and eat, Jessica. I'll send you back after."

Aiden felt that Lily's behavior just now was a little strange. It was obviously irrational to stay here. The most important thing now was to leave as soon as possible. It would be best to contact Sophia later and explain the situation.

However, the little girl was unhappy. Her fair calves swayed as she pouted and said, "You clearly said you would play with me for a day…"

Aiden smiled bitterly. "Next time, next time, I'll definitely do it. I have other things to do today…"

"Hmph! I don't believe you! I think you just want to find that bad woman!" Jessica shouted aggrievedly.

Seeing that she was about to cry, Aiden's heart ached a little. He quickly comforted the little girl softly, "Don't cry, don't cry. There's really nothing between us."

As he comforted her, Aiden cursed that bastard Eddie a thousand times in his heart. If it weren't for that bastard, they wouldn't have chosen to come to the amusement park, and they wouldn't have met Lily, and there wouldn't be so much trouble.

"I don't care!" Jessica jumped down from her seat angrily and pointed at Aiden's nose. "Tell me! Who's prettier, me or that bad woman!"

Aiden smiled wryly and pinched the little girl's nose. "You, you, you, you're beautiful. You're the most beautiful."

"Hmph, that's more like it!" She nodded in satisfaction. She picked up the tissue on the table and wiped her mouth.

"I'm full!"

"Let's go, then." Aiden rose and led her out of the fairground.

As he hailed a taxi by the roadside, Aiden had a strange feeling in his heart, as if eyes were staring at him from somewhere.

Aiden looked around, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't find the source of those eyes. As time passed, he became a little irritated.

"What's wrong, Brother Aiden?" Jessica looked up at him in confusion.

"Nothing," Aiden said, shaking his head. He looked at the young woman's innocent face and made up his mind.

Soon, the taxi arrived. Aiden escorted Jessica to the car but didn't get in himself. Faced with Jessica's puzzled gaze, Aiden explained with a smile, "Brother suddenly remembered that he still has classes in the afternoon. You should go back first, okay?"

No matter who the owner of those eyes was, they were probably coming for him. There was no need to put Jessica in danger.

"Alright…" Jessica was a little reluctant, but she still nodded obediently. Before the car started, she waved at him. "Remember to come back early."

Aiden smiled and nodded. The smile faded as the car drove away.

As expected, the feeling of being watched was still there!

Who could it be?

Confused, Aiden pretended as if nothing had happened. He left the amusement park and walked slowly on the street. That gaze followed him from the beginning to the end, neither too far nor too close.

Aiden pulled out his phone and texted Sophia: I'm being followed.

Sophia called almost immediately.

As soon as the call was connected, Sophia's grave voice sounded from the phone. "What's the situation?"

Aiden explained briefly about meeting Lily and the feeling of being followed. Then he voiced his doubts. "Didn't you modify her memory?"

Sophia was silent for a moment upon hearing this. Then, she slowly said, "It's true, but that bastard Eddie's behavior was so strange, he is still a suspect."

"Anyway, go home first and be as careful as possible. I'll go find Professor Martin. If the other party really suspects your identity, we have to resolve it as soon as possible. You have to know that the Devourer is different from the Fool. As long as they suspect you, they can attack without hesitation!"

"Understood!" Aiden replied and hung up. He continued to act as if nothing had happened, the gaze still following him from a distance.

Who could it be?

Aiden slowed his pace as countless guesses flashed through his mind.

'Did Lily catch up?'

As soon as this thought appeared, he immediately made a decision and walked towards a crowded place.

However, after taking two steps, he stopped again.

"No, if we walk to a crowded place, the other party might give up. Then there will probably be trouble in the future."

Instead of being pestered by the other party, again and again, it was better to settle it directly!

A trace of determination flashed in Aiden's eyes. As long as he waited until Professor Martin and Sophia arrived, it would be easy for him to deal with a ferocious beast.

After a moment's hesitation, Aiden left the crowd and headed for another, more secluded path. As he walked, he pulled out his cell phone and sent Sophia his location.

However, before he could walk far, he heard footsteps approaching from behind.

Tap, tap, tap!

As expected!

Aiden whirled around, but there was nothing behind him. But as he turned to continue forward, the footsteps sounded again.

Aiden's breath caught in his throat. He'd been trying to reassure himself that he might be imagining things because he was so nervous, but now it seems that someone was indeed following him.

"Let's stall them first!"

Before Sophia and Professor Martin arrive, Aiden knew very well that it would be difficult for him to kill a beast alone with his strength. He could only try his best to stall the other party.

The good news was that the other party did not seem to be in a hurry to make a move, but followed at a distance.

The bad news was that Aiden had walked into a dead end because he was too nervous!

Aiden's expression changed as he stared at the wall in front of him.

Oh no!

"Oh, Aiden, what a coincidence."
