Chapter 9 - Thank You Skel-a-ton!

After following the iron trail of fate, Kivas stumbled upon a demoness. What currently happened was a decisive staredown that would choose his fate.

"A native species?" The demoness lady got even more confused. She then crouched down, leaning her head forward to take a closer look. "Weird, I didn't sense any lifeforce before converting this place into a haunted mine."

While Kivas visibly saw her lips move and heard what she was saying, he had zero clue on what she was talking about.

'What language is she saying? Is she talking about my extended warranty?'

"What a weird looking animal." The center of her right palm split open, revealing a dark flesh with an eyeball that was twitching left and right. A moment later, the eyeball and a portion of the dark flesh was pushed out, immediately forming a scythe as it disconnected from her hand.

The lady then used the blunt end of the scythe to poke the weird creature in front of her. "Huh, this little fella is surprisingly docile," she said with a smirk.

'I've got a bad feeling about this.'

"Alright!" She then planted the hilt end of her scythe to the ground, showing a cheerful grin. "I'll just recruit you to my rank, Gyihi!"

And without knowing much, Kivas managed to join an unknown demoness' group.

The demoness then called the ogre skeleton into the site. From the look of it, it seemed like Kivas had been assigned to the mining team. The giant skeleton then nodded in acknowledgement. He then gestured his head, urging Kivas to follow him.

'Somehow, I understand the big guy more than the skimpy lady.' Kivas dragged himself and leaped in a small length with both of his lower claws, matching the speed of the giant skeleton. 'Is it because I'm classified as a monster, just like them?'

Kivas acquired two purple orbs at that moment. One was possibly given after the encounter with the demoness lady, and the other was probably because he managed to join their rank.

As they walked, Kivas began the selection of his boons. For the first one, he chose the [Blight Expansion], making the radius of his torch's illumination go up to 5 meters. For the second purple orb, he found something interesting. An unknown boon with the symbol of a menacing turtle and an ancient-looking kiln.

-Boon of Constitution-

[Ancient Mountain Dragon's Constitution: Furnace Stomach]

-Platinum, tungsten, diamond, and adamantium. The ancient kiln resides inside the wise dragon of the land, reigning every nutrients from melting all kinds of minerals below the surface of the ground. With valiant heart and pumping fire spreading in every veins, the Mountain Dragon made an oath to spread wisdom all around-

As the golden orb from the chosen boon seeped inside Kivas' body, an extreme heat was spread to every inch of his blobby physique.

The ogre giant looked back and stopped, worried about his new comrade who seemed to be doing unwell more than usual.

'HOT! HOT! I'M ON FIREEEEEEE!!!!!!' Kivas' heads breathed in and out to cycle out the temperature, which was actually not working in the slightest.

The high temperature changed the color of his jello surface into red. After enough accumulation of the heat, his three canine heads began to hurl fire like a flamethrower. Ensuring that there won't be any misunderstanding, Kiva aimed his flame to the wall near him.

'AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-'

For some reason, there was a noticeable differing material from the wall that was being heated and the rest of the stone wall. Kivas bursted out his flame for one minute straight, and after he was plunged into an exhausted state, the once former wall in front of him revealed a perfect rectangular doorway into some sort of a secret chamber.

The giant skeleton clacked his jaw in surprise, he then began to hurriedly run somewhere outside of Kivass' perception.

'... I guess this is what diarrhea is supposed to feel like.'

The symptom of the diarrhea didn't actually include breathing out the fire from hell.

He then got another golden light and wind chime from his torch. Another purple orb appeared in front of him.

'Oooh! I think I did something amazing, but I don't really understand what I did.' Kivas caressed his blobby front with his claw.

'Urgh, I feel so hungry.' He then remembered that the description of his new book mentioned something about taking nutrients from minerals. Right near him, Kivas saw a friendly skeleton pushing a cart full of all sorts of minerals. 'Uhm, hey, mate, can you give me some of those?'

The ogre skeleton brought back the demoness lady into the site.

"The Tomb of Relics! I didn't know that it's reserved in this location!" She immediately rushed in to explore the uncharted territory of her mine. "The remains of the Golden Era awaits meeeee-"

And while a group of skeletons were dispatched to the mysterious site of the mine, Kivas was just hanging out with his skelebros as they watched things unfold, for Kivas, in a limited manner as he shoved and gnawed all kinds of minerals on the cart into his body.

'Taste crunchy and bitter, but the aftertaste of these stones feels nice.'

What the aftertaste he was referring to is actually the pulsation of energy spread into the entirety of the body after the minerals have been digested by the thermonuclear stomach of his.

With his color theme reddening into that of a molten lava, it seemed like Kivas had entirely changed his body element.

He then tried to communicate with the skeleton that gave him the mineral ores. Despite two of the conversation sides not uttering a single word, both of them seemed to understand what each other meant from a single bark or jaw cackling.

'So, in a sense, the demoness lady is some sort of summoner, and she summoned all of these skeletons who couldn't go to the afterlife because of a universal regret of not putting much effort to work. Talk about capitalism and Stockholm syndrome.'

And then another purple orb appeared, along with the gold light and soothing chime of the wind.
