Like a plastic sword hitting steel, the pointed tail of the Wyvern effortlessly parried the blade. The 1,278 attack damage of Kevin served as a joke in front of an SS-grade monster.
This caused Kevin a great shock as he clearly understood his powerlessness at the moment.
He thought that he could at least reduce its health by a thousand but it seemed that he had overestimated his skill.
With his hold of the sword continuously losing as second hits, the Wyvern glanced at its aggressor as it broke free of the entanglement of the monsters.
With its two massive feet, it then strides rapidly towards the shocked Kevin.
ROARRRR
"Kevin!", the three shouted as the Wyvern continually get closer to Kevin. Each stride felt otherworldly as it covered meters in span.
But, their shouts couldn't possibly reach the trance of Kevin.
"Alab, what do we do?! Kevin, he will be killed!", Hiraya wailed as Kevin remained frozen on spot.
Looking at Kevin, the Wyvern, and the tamed monsters chasing it, Alab opened his mouth as he looked at Hiraya.
"Hiraya, can you still use your skill?", he muttered
"Ahmm, yes, I can, why?", confused, Hiraya asked
"Command those monsters to pin down that Wyvern again", for the first time, Alab commander.
"Eh? Wh—"
Before she could even finish her words, Alab commanded first as he shouted. "Fast!!!"
With no time wasted, though reluctant, Hiraya did as she was told and commanded her tamed monsters to pin down the monster with their bodies.
Exhausting their remaining mana, Hiraya still felt that their speed could not cope with the Wyvern. With adrenaline pushing her body to the limit, it came to her.
'What if I send them my mana for them to use?', she pondered as she boldly tried her idea with the short time remaining.
Draining her mana off her body and sending it to her tamed monsters through their connections, Hiraya urged her monsters to use everything they left to pin down the Wyvern.
ROARRRR
With a roar, the Wyvern was halted on the spot as the sudden boost in speed of the tamed monsters caught up with it. With a thud, it dropped to the ground as monsters suppressed it with their massive bodies.
But, Hiraya knew that it would take no time before the Wyvern could escape from the suppression as well and once that happened, they would be done for good.
Looking at Kevin, he was still fazed by what happened. She then shifted to her side to look at Alab and ask for his plan. She only saw him glancing at the pinned-down Wyvern keenly before he muttered…
"Sorry, Hiraya" he mumbled as then shouted.
"Stack!", with a loud voice, a beam of light came rushing out of the [Rusty Sword] he was holding. The azure beam of light was clearly denser and brighter than last time as it came hurling downwards toward the suppressed Wyvern.
It tried to struggle to break free from the monsters but it was too late. Before it could even break free, the massive azure light met its head as it continuously consume its entire body. It felt an unbearable pain assaulting its body and mind that felt like a millennium. It all happened in a split second before the SS-grade monster, [Valiant Wyvern] turned into ash. The monster died that way as the territory lost its Lord.
Alongside it, the tamed monsters of Hiraya were met with the light as they suffered similarly. Their body flashed horror as they screamed in agony under the blinding light.
"No!!!! *cough*"
And on Alab's side, Hiraya dropped to her knees as she felt several connections being severed, her body continuously throwing up blood as she felt her head being assaulted by immeasurable pain. Her heart bled as it seemed to be pierced by countless blades.
"Althea!", screamed Alab as Althea came rushing down and hit the ground as the Dove shook her off its body. Without minding the pain she felt hitting head first, Althea rushed towards Hiraya who was now bleeding on her orifices.
"Life Heal!", without wasting any more time, Althea drained her stocked life force to heal Hiraya.
Seeing that her bleeding had not stopped, she continued healing her. But, it was futile. The bleeding just wouldn't stop and Althea's skill only treated minor injuries.
"What should I do, what should I do?! What should I do?!", falling in trance, Althea fidgeted with her dress as the sight of Hiraya continuously throwing up blood made her cowardly self resurface. A part of herself that she had forgotten since she met the group.
"Althea!", shaking her trembling body, Alab pulled Althea out of her stupor.
"You can do it. You should do it!", he muttered as tears started to overwhelm his eyes. After all, he was the one who caused Hiraya to be in this near-death situation.
"P---please, save her", Alab pleaded with a shaky voice.
Seeing this, Althea recollected herself as she took a breather. Then, she examined her skull extensively…
"If just a bit of life force wouldn't work, I would have to exhaust my stock in one go then. I hope that would be enough", she uttered as she closed her eyes and touched Hiraya who now lay on the ground, surrounded by blood she threw up.
Feeling the life force stocked on her consciousness, Althea felt something out of ordinary as along with the golden life force, a white, pure white, was mixed along with it.
It took her no time to identify that life force.
'That, that is a piece of my life force!', she pondered as she then exhausted every bit of life of force she stocked for days and transmitted it into Hiraya. Along with the life force, she mixed a piece of her personal life force that then resisted Hiraya's body.
"Life Heal"
A moment of silence before Alab and Althea witness a spectacular scene. Right after Althea heal Hiraya, the latter's body became enveloped by a white light that healed her at the speed of light. They saw the bleeding stop in an instant as if it never happened and Hiraya's pale complexion restored its vigor.
It all happened in an instant before Hiraya released her last cough and opened her eyes. Her recent pain left no trace as she stood up with her regained strength. Alas! Even her mana was restored as she connected with the [Nightmare Skull] they were standing on that was surprisingly behave than others.
"H---Hiraya, sorry", Alab, seeing that Hiraya was now fine, finally dropped to his knee as he let go of his sword. Tears flow from his eyes like a spring.
Hiraya didn't utter a reply as she coldly glanced at Althea who was also on her knee as she seemed to lose her strength. Shifting her gaze, she saw Kevin staring at nowhere. His face flashed nothing but awe.
Apparently, as the azure beam of light slaughtered the Wyvern, Kevin witnessed the dazzling light up close. He saw how the light killed the monster he took a hard time dealing with.
He witnessed how that single beam delivered the monster to its death.
Seeing the azure light, he felt nothing but awe as the image of it remained in his head. Seemed to be pushed by adrenaline indescribably, his mind worked at unfathomable speed as he analyzed the skill.
And then it hit him.
'I… I could make such an attack too', he interpreted.
AN: Just like you guys, I didn't expect it to turn out this way. Heck! I didn't expect that they would get a power-up this early! Only Kevin's was planned huhu.
