Chapter 14 - chapter 14

Amidst the chilling winds and the snow-blanketed landscape, the left flank of the Fiore retreated into the depths of the forest, seeking refuge from the formidable chimeras they had encountered just a few days back. They managed to hide and go unnoticed but the fear and uncertainty gripped their hearts, they knew they had to regroup and find a way to send a message back to camp.

The dense forest enveloped them in shadows as they moved cautiously between the ancient trees, the sounds of their movements muffled by the thick layer of snow. Each step was deliberate, every breath hushed, for they were now in the territory of the elusive chimera which could be controlled by the dark mages from Arian, and it could be lurking anywhere, waiting to strike.

As they navigated through the wilderness, their hearts pounded with a mix of trepidation and determination. The soldiers had witnessed the chimera's ferocity firsthand and knew that it could strike at any moment. But they also understood that returning to camp was imperative. The broken communication device had severed their link with the base camp, leaving them isolated and vulnerable.

Major general Feodore, a fearless and resourceful leader, took charge of the situation. His sharp eyes scanned the surroundings, searching for any sign of danger. He gestured to his fellow soldiers to take cover behind the ancient oaks, their breaths forming small puffs of mist in the cold air.

"We must find a way to get a message to camp," Feodore whispered, his voice barely audible. "The communication device is broken, but we cannot afford to be cut off from our allies"

His squad nodded in agreement, their eyes filled with unwavering resolve. They had faced adversity before, and they were determined to overcome this challenge as well.

Hours passed, the sun slowly descended in the winter sky. Their hearts ached with the longing for their comrades back at camp, but they dared not risk revealing their location. The chimera could be lurking nearby, waiting for any sign of vulnerability.

Finally, as the moon began to rise, a plan began to take shape. Farther into the forest, they had stumbled upon an ancient stone ruin, half-buried by snow and forgotten by time. It was a relic from a bygone era, and Feodore saw a glimmer of hope in its potential. "Those ruins hold secrets of a forgotten magic, and I believe we can harness it to send a message back to camp"

The soldiers exchanged curious glances, their trust in Lyra's instincts unwavering. They cleared the snow from the stones, revealing the forgotten symbols etched into their surfaces. This ancient signaling method, once used by the ancestors of Fiore, could send messages across vast distances.

Together, they explored the mystical ruins, deciphering the symbols carefully etched on it and unleashing the ancient magic that had lain dormant for eons.

As the moon reached its zenith, Feodore stood at the heart of the ruins, surrounded by the soft glow of ancient runes. With a deep breath he summoned the magic passed down to him by his ancestors, channeling it through the ruins and into the night sky. The symbols flickered to life, casting an ethereal glow upon the surrounding forest.

The mana danced harmoniously with nature, the symbols transformed into a glowing sphere light shooting high above the ruins carrying our message, it charged in the direction of our base camp. It's trail shimmering with brilliance, illuminating the night sky like a celestial descending from heaven.

Now, the waiting began.

Their hearts pounding with fear and anticipation. The echoes of the chimera's roars resonated through the trees, a chilling reminder of the relentless hunters that stalked them.

Major general Feodore's eyes darted between the ancient ruins and the dense foliage, his mind a whirlwind of worry and hope. Huddled together, the soldiers exchanged anxious glances, the weight of uncertainty hanging heavy in the air.

Every passing moment felt like an eternity, as they waited in silence for a response to their message. The broken communication device had left them isolated and vulnerable, and now, they clung to the hope that their comrades back at camp had received their message and send one back before the chimeras find them.

As they hid among the shadows, the fear of the unknown gnawed at them. The chimera, with their otherworldly powers, could strike at any moment, tearing apart the sanctuary they had sought in the ruins. Each rustle of leaves, each creak of a branch, set their hearts racing, for they knew that the predators of the forest were always lurking.

Time seemed to stretch endlessly, and the weight of uncertainty became an oppressive burden. They longed for the comfort of knowing that a response was on its way, yet the silence of the forest offered no solace.

Amidst the fear and tension, Feodore rallied his soldiers with a determined gaze, trying to instill confidence in their hearts. "We must remain vigilant," he whispered, his voice barely audible. "the base came have already received our message and I'm sure they are trying their best to send a response back without notifying the enemy of our positions"

Yet, as the hours passed, the chimera's presence felt increasingly suffocating. The soldiers exchanged worried glances, their minds conjuring images of the fierce beasts closing in on their hiding place.

As he contemplated their next move, a soft, ethereal presence brushed against his thoughts. It was a sensation he had come to recognize – a telepathic message, a beacon of connection from the base camp. It was a communication tool the mage tower had created but it was still in trials period to be used until now. He closed his eyes, allowing his mind to open to this invisible conversation.

"major general Feodore," the voice resonated in his mind, echoing like a distant melody, "This is princess Angelis. We have received your report about the chimera's movements. Marshall Derek Lampetia and I have devised a plan, a way to distract the chimeras, giving you enough time to slip past unnoticed"
