Long Yin continued to contact Jin Lu, asking questions with the same deadly calm voice he had used in the beginning. Jin Lu started to have feelings of apprehension about Long Yin coming to get her.
What was the point of being rescued just to be killed by your rescuer?
The door opened, and Jin Lu was unable to stand without feeling like she would fall, so she pretended to be unconscious. Her hearing had become somewhat normal, letting her hear the sound of footsteps coming towards her. They stopped next to her knee before she felt the person's presence lean over her. Gritting her teeth, Jin Lu threw herself toward the person. She wrapped her arms around the person's neck and pulled down, bringing her knee up at the same time.
A surprised gasp, the crack of a broken nose, and a screech of pain followed Jin Lu as she scrambled toward the exit. A wide, tall shadow appeared in the doorway just as Jin Lu's fingertips reached it. A heavy boot landed on her hand, smashing it into the floor.
The taste of blood filled Jin Lu's mouth as she bit her tongue to keep from screaming in pain. She looked up and felt the blood drain from her face. The person in front of her was the student who had teased her at Martial Field.
"What are you doing, Pan Huan? Clean yourself up," he snarled at the person still moaning in Jin Lu's cell before looking down at her. His eyes flashed with a malicious light as he smiled widely, making the hairs on Jin Lu's body stand on end.
"That was a bad thing, little fairy." He ground his boot into her hand, and blood trickled out of the side of Jin Lu's mouth. His chuckle as he watched it slide down her chin made Jin Lu feel dirty inside.
"Boss says we can't damage your face, but that leaves so many other things," he purred, a hopeful shine in his eyes. Jin Lu turned her head down, glaring at the ground.
"Long Yin! It's the guy, the guy from Martial Field, a student. And Pan Huan. They're both here!"
The student lifted his boot before picking Jin Lu up from the floor and slinging her over his shoulder. The action was so familiar that Jin Lu knew that he was the one who had carried her from the music store.
"You make a beautiful woman. To bad boss won't let us play with you," he sighed, patting her backside. Jin Lu's face burned, wanting to punch him but holding herself back. She refused to give this sadistic bastard the opportunity to make good on his threat. Jin Lu covered her head with her arms as they went up a flight of stairs and down multiple hallways. Her elbow scraped the edge of the wall each time they turned, yet neither the fabric nor her arm tore or scarred.
They turned towards a wooden door in the middle of a hallway and the student knocked politely, his demeanor changing so that he appeared respectful.
"Enter."
Jin Lu kept her face hidden as they stepped inside, peeking through the slit in her sleeves. The room looked like a study, but it was bare of books or knick-knacks. The walls and floor were the same material as the rest of the place; stone and dirt.
"Boss." The student flipped Jin Lu into a chair before standing patiently behind it. Jin Lu kept her head in her arms while looking at her lap, waiting.
"Welcome, Jin Lu, I've been waiting for you." The voice of the person in front of her was familiar, but the tone was not. Jin Lu raised her head and her heart stopped. She never would have expected that this person was the "Boss" who had been chasing her.
