Chapter 5 - The silhouette

It's hard to keep peaceful when you are triggered to the point of anger, disrespected as whole, and disregarded as a person.

A flood of emotions rushed through Keith's body, all of them having some relation to disgust. At that moment all he could think of was what he saw. His eyes had just been forever tainted, there was no unseeing the sight he just witnessed. He wished he hadn't walked into his room -his house- but once seen, never forgotten.

Moments after he kicked the group out, he sat on the rim of his bed. He was disgusted by the sight of the sheets and the mattress itself. He sat there, with his eyes welling up with tears, mortified and thinking of where he was gonna sleep. His bed was ruined, his room tainted, and his food cold. Not only did he not have a place to sleep in, but he also didn't have any good food. Trying to keep his tears from falling, he got up and left the house in a stealthy manner.

He walked through the quiet streets thinking of where he could go to get even the smallest drop of sleep. After what's seemed like an endless train of thought, he finally decided on a destination. The hospital.

He walked himself over to the building and into the lobby. He would have preferred to sleep at home as the hospital was always a busy place, but he weighed his options and opted for a night in the staff dorms instead. He dragged himself to the staff dorms, anticipating the sleep he was longing for. Sleep was within his reach. He could almost taste it's deliciousness.

He entered the dorms without much of a thought and collapsed on the lower bed of the bunker bed. He let out a sigh of relief and began settling himself for his long awaited sleep. Just as he was done settling himself, he heard the door open and close with a bang that shook his soul out of his body

Now, was not uncommon that doctors and nurses would hook up in the hospital but it also wasn't a frequent occurrence. But on that day, as if his day wasn't bad enough, the pair just had to hook up on that fruitful day. The two went at passionately, knocking down everything in their way. They slammed each other into the walls of the room, both yearning for a taste of the other.

Keith lay as silent as he could, not letting even the smallest breath slip out of his mouth. Unfortunately his body wouldn't let him stay still. As if his luck hadn't already gone down the drain, he attempted a silent breath. A gasp ever so loud echoed in the corners of the four walls. The couple near the door stood still, startled by the sound, both shaking from the heated moment they were having a moment ago. Yet another awkward and unwanted sight for Keith. He wanted but, unfortunately, sleep did not want him. Once again, he set out for the streets, looking for a place to go. He walked for what seemed to a very long time, until his leg's finally gave out. He stood under a lamppost hoping to get a little bit of rest and hopefully locate a hotel.

On the other-hand, Virela was having the time of her life relaxing in her cozy apartment. As an introvert, her definition of fun was to stay at home alone doing what she liked. Since her townhouse was such a perfect place for her to do so, she made most of it. After her bath she twirled happily around her house, getting her food and blankets together for yet another comfortable movie night. As she bounced off her living room walls, she spotted a black stray cat right in her mini yard. She dropped her chips and all plans of movie night and headed straight to the kitty that remained frozen in front of her. She approached the cat with caution and some jerky, in order to coax into following her. As she slowly began petting the kitten, she noticed a familiar silhouette hovering under the nearby street light.

At first she thought she was hallucinating from exhaustion but when the silhouette turned into the light she immediately recognized the human she was looking at. The dark cloak of night was simply not enough to cover the person she was analyzing. As she stared more in his direction, she noticed his shivering body and his worn out legs. It was in the middle of the night with no cars in sight. She assumed he was coming from the hospital and wondered why he would be so standing under the cold so far away from where he should have been.

She slowly made her way to him and as she closed their distance, it became clear to her that he was on the verge of collapse. He looked disconnected from his soul, his dark circles about to reach the ground. Virela stood a distance from him and called for him, hoping it was who she thought it was.

The man turned his head slowly and looked down at the woman in front of him, a sign of relief spread across his face as he recognized her. "Melissa- Melissa's daughter, aren't you?", seeing as how the man, Keith, seemed to know who she was, she stepped into the light and replied with with a concise yes.

"What are you doing here, it a long way from the hospital don't you think", virela said in a stern tone. Keith looked at her with a raised eyebrow and replied, "you think I live in the hospital?". Virela just stood there and stared at him and pondered on leaving him there or not. After a few seconds she began to talk. "We'll I'm asking what you are doing under the lamppost looking the way you do", she said as a response to his question.

"Well-....."
