Hiroki told the group that they still had a few minutes before they had to return to the surface. They decided to use this remaining time efficiently and look for some goblins.
Hiroki really wanted his friends to reach the third level during this session. Therefore, he asked his wife Gaia to stay with him instead of fighting. He was always a few meters behind his two friends so that coming monsters would focus on Aiko and Eichi.
Gaia didn't have to be told twice, and she ran to Hiroki. She took his hand and together they strolled behind the two.
It wasn't long before they encountered goblins again. There were 4. Two goblins per head.
When the two brothers spotted the coming goblins, they looked at each other briefly and nodded. They were ready and at the same moment, they charged toward the goblins. This time they did much better. They didn't make any unnecessary mistakes and managed to dodge quite well.
Of course, they couldn't initiate a deadly counterattack after every dodge, it was only one of their first heads, but they managed to climb out of the carnage without any injuries.
As they killed the second goblin, a bright light surrounded them, and a [System Notification] appeared right before their eyes.
「
Congratulations! You have advanced to level 3.
Your stats are automatically increased
」
When the glow stopped, the two brothers turned to Hiroki. Their eyes were wide open and seemed to be shining.
"Woah. We're finally leveled up. Do you think you can feel a difference in our strength yet?" the happy Aiko wanted to know.
"Now, don't be so over the top. Do you really think you can feel a difference when you only go up one level?" Although Eichi was also very happy about the level increase, he still remained calm and didn't talk such nonsense as his brother.
Unfortunately, Hiroki also had to destroy Aiko's hopes. Even though they will feel a difference in the fight from now on, it was only very slight and not worth mentioning. Of course, they will be able to defeat goblins more easily, but that is logically related to their combat experience.
But that was it.
Hiroki wanted to give his friend a better and more satisfying answer, but time was too short for that.
Hiroki had to teleport the group upstairs.
There they met Professor Pertina who was already waiting for them together with the rest of the group. But it didn't seem that Professor Pertina was angry or anything like that. She greeted them with a warm "welcome back" and also wanted to know how they did in the dungeon. They spent the next hour talking to Professor Pertina about their stay in the Dungeon. Of course, it was all fibs and lies. During their conversation, Hiroki kept dropping information into the heads of Aiko and Eichi via telepathy. So that their fake story sounded also genuine and believable. But also so that no one blabbed if he did not know what to tell.
They managed to trick Pertina that way... or so they thought at the time.
After an hour passed, it was time to go to lunch. All the students gathered and went back to their camp.
Once there, they immediately started eating. They had some kind of steak and fried potatoes.
"Huh... As if there is also the same food here as on Earth. On another planet, shouldn't everything be, at least a little, different from Earth? For example, green carrots and pink potatoes? That would be something." Aiko thought it was a pity that there were not so many special things on this planet. But his brother Eichi seemed to have a different opinion.
"Huh, that's really practical. Imagine if everything was different and new here. You don't eat steak, but... I don't know... Blue troll slices, or something. That would be really weird. Here, at least you know what to expect and you know things. If they all had such a weird, twisted name, you would despair after all. And not to mention, you should be glad that here the normal dishes aren't something like freaky pieces of meat that move and have eyes that blink." Eichi's reasoning made sense and Aiko couldn't argue with it. He was now also glad to be able to enjoy a steak than some slop mostly seen in intergalactic space movies.
But that was not what fascinated Hiroki. It surprised him, and his wife too, that Eichi had actually guessed the name of a luxurious dish of this world. Blue troll slices. These were a delicacy that could be sold for a lot of money. Blue trolls are a special mutation of normal gray trolls. These blue trolls are known for their succulent meat. It is said to melt in your mouth and taste almost divine. That's why these slices are usually on the menu of royal families.
But enough of that. The meal was soon over. The students now went back to their rooms. There they could take a break and possibly have a meeting with their team to work out possible new tactics. During this time, it was also allowed for women to stay in the men's rooms and vice versa.
Aiko and Eichi expected a discussion about what would happen next. They also wanted to know whether they could later descend to the third floor. But unfortunately, this meeting never happened. When they entered their room and put down their equipment, Hiroki disappeared again. Before he completely disappeared through the door, he hastily told them: "You can sleep, I'm on my way to Gaia to... rest. Have fun and see you later!" After saying that, he was gone.
Now the two had no choice but to somehow try to kill time. They finally decided to take a nap.
Their nap, and thus the lunch break, was soon over and all the students gathered on the first floor.
When Aiko and Eichi arrived downstairs, there was no sign of Hiroki and Gaia.
'Where are they?" Eichi wondered.
But that question was immediately cleared up when Hiroki and Gaia hurriedly came running down from the stairs.
"Sorry for the delay," Hiroki whispered to his two friends as they joined the group.
Aiko took the opportunity to spy a glimpse of Gaia. Her cheeks were bright red. And upon closer inspection, Aiko also noticed that her hair was a bit disheveled. He was indignant.
'Resting, my ass, you must have been doing something completely different than that. How can your little buddy even keep up?' He thought to himself.
