Chereads / The Greatest Warlock / Chapter 17 - Chapter 17

Chapter 17 - Chapter 17

In the evening when the sun went down.

A huge six-wheeled truck was driven down the road of Wineham.

This is the truck that transports goods between Landa and Wineham, it was large and sturdy, but the compaction compartment has been remodeled so that it can also be used as a luggage truck or a transport truck that can transport people depending on the convenience.

Some of the junior disciples, including Oliver, were riding on this truck as if to prove the facts about the truck.

"You've probably already heard the explanation, but I'll still explain it again! The opponents we are going to fight this time are wizards!!"

The man in front of the truck compartment spoke.

The man was Pharmacist's subordinate, employee A, who was carrying a submachine gun T-series on his arm.

The junior disciples, who came along without knowing what was going on, were all suddenly surprised by the sudden revelation.

'We're going to fight?'

'That too Wizards?'

Employee A in the front spoke after seeing their reactions.

"Oh my gosh… you didn't hear anything?"

One of the junior disciples opened his mouth and asked.

"What do you mean by we are going to a fight?"

"As far as I heard, there are some people who were attacking all of us, including you guys? Apparently, they're mobs from Landa and there were also some wizards mixed among them."

"This is crazy…why are the wizards even here? They're all supposed to be super-rich, aren't they?"

"Oh my god…. I felt something was wrong."

"How can they not even say a word…"

"F*ck…"

The junior disciples mumbled one after another and expressed their anxiety.

It may be strange for a Warlock to feel anxious like this, but considering that most of them are 16 to 19 years old, it was understandable to some extent.

Moreover, they only knew how to use black magic, and they were lacking in skills when it comes to actual combat.

However, Employee A screamed as if he didn't like their reactions.

"Shut up everyone! I am trying to treat you nice because you guys are still a warlock, but why are you guys whining like a moron? The conversation with your boss is already over! If you want to live, get ready to fight with us! Okay?!"

Everyone was dispirited and went silent.

Except for one – Oliver.

Oliver, who was sitting quietly raised his hand.

"….what?"

"What's a wizard?"

Employee A, who had been frowning suddenly relaxed his expression and made an absurd expression as if he had seen a fool.

Everyone looked at Oliver with a dumbstruck expression.

" Wizards are people who can use magic. Not black magic, but the original..Real magic…Ah…. Why the f*ck am I even explaining this?"

Original?

Real Magic?

When Oliver tried to question what the real magic was, someone intervened.

"Are they really wizards? How is it possible? Why would a wizard come here to fight with us?"

"I don't know. I was just saying what I heard. Anyway, the other side is said to be having wizards, that's why we're taking you guys."

Oliver still didn't know what a wizard was, but he could see they are someone who is dangerous looking at the sweating face of his companions.

In the front corner, Employee-A stood without talking.

He took the wooden box that was there and opened its lid.

The wooden box had pistols and knife.

"Boss told me that you guys are still short on firepower, so we prepared some weapons for you guys. Everyone, come and pick one up."

The guys in front received their guns in order.

There was even a small quarrel amongst themselves to grab the stronger-looking gun.

Oliver watched the scene as if it had nothing to do with him, and quietly asked Peter next to him.

For your information, Peter was also very nervous due to the circumstances.

"What does he mean by the wizards who use real magic?"

Peter looked at Oliver who had an earnest eye.

Peter felt like if he was in a situation where he was about to die, Oliver would ask questions in the same way.

"Huh… Literally. Wizards use real Magic. Black magic is a kind of sub-division that sees and imitates real magic."

"Ho…"

Oliver was astonished.

The black magic that looks strong and beautiful enough to him was just an imitation of real magic.

He wanted to know more about the Real magic.

"Tell me more."

"…. Aren't you curious about this situation? We're going to fight soon. If we were to do something wrong, we could all die. Aren't you afraid of dying?"

"No, I'm afraid of dying."

It was a sincere answer.

Oliver was also afraid of death, and he didn't want to die.

However, his curiosity about black magic and emotions was greater than the fear of death.

Like a moth leaping into a fire on its own will.

Peter was even more astonished at Oliver and said.

"You're really… amazing."

"Thank you….well? Then, what about the answer?"

It was then.

The truck stopped.

A voice was heard from outside, and Employee A shouted and asked them to get off the truck along with him, so Oliver and Peter had no choice but to get out of their seats.

Peter answered on the way to walking down.

"If I don't die and come back alive, I'll answer whatever you want."

"Um…, then it's okay."

As they got off the truck, they saw senior and intermediate disciples getting off the other trucks.

Because they were with Andrew, they seemed very relaxed, unlike the junior disciples.

In addition to them, there were 20 gangsters with shotguns, automatic rifles, and baseball bats, along with a group of Warlocks they had never seen before.

Peter looked at them and explained to Oliver that they were from Anthony and the Dominic family

"Other family?"

"Yeah, there are two other families besides us in Wineham. That one is the Anthony family and the other one is the Dominic family. One specialized in manipulation and the other in disease."

Oliver saw a man in a trench coat and a man in leather work clothes.

"Manipulation and disease?"

"Oh, you haven't learned it yet? Manipulation means manipulating people, animals, and even corpses, while disease means strengthening and weakening the body. Roughly that's how it is."

Oliver nodded happily at the new fact he had learned.

He felt like he wanted to go directly to the people over there and ask what manipulation or disease magic was.

But he couldn't because Andrew was talking to them.

He couldn't hear what they were talking about, but it seemed like they were talking about something very serious.

A muffled conversation could be heard from the other side.

"It seems like Wizards are really here. Otherwise, it is impossible for the three families to come together like this?"

"Is it because the pharmacist asked for help?"

"Maybe….?"

"Honestly, I just wish we hadn't taken on such a dangerous mission."

They were all frightened, and at that moment Andrew, who finished his conversation, approached in the direction of junior disciples.

As soon as he approached them, he opened a test tube he had and casted black magic on everyone.

[Eavesdropper]

[Mouth whispering]

A thin black light entered everyone's ears and mouth.

"Ah, is this…?"

"Don't worry. I just prepared this just in case there was something urgent to say. Just tell me when you are in need of something."

"Oh oh…."

Some people were amazed.

After all, Andrew is Joseph's best disciple and the second-in-command in the family.

Looking at everyone Andrew began to speak.

"Everyone must have heard of it on the way, but still I will say it once again, from now on we are going to fight against the raiders who attacked us a while ago."

One of the junior disciples raised his hand cautiously.

"Are we really going to fight against wizards?"

Andrew stayed silent for a moment, which made everyone nervous.

".….Yes."

"Ah really…."

When the terrified voice leaked out, Andrew spoke strongly.

"Don't be afraid of wizards, everyone! The pharmacist indeed said that there are wizards, but it was only three of them. And even those three of them are the ones who got kicked out of the Magic Tower, so there's no need to be afraid. Other than that, there's just a bunch of gangsters from Landa and a bunch of third-rate gangs that they've pulled from here…By the way, compared to them we are double in size, and three families of warlocks are also united. So there's no way we'll lose."

At Andrew's confident remarks, the faces of the junior disciples softened.

Andrew nailed it there.

"Moreover, the Anthony family has already released the rats to find the enemy's hideout. We have already found out how many troops there are and where the traps are. The fight has already been won. You guys just need to go there and cover for them."

"Then? Are you not coming with us, Senior Andrew?"

"It's not that I'm leaving, I'm just going to a different location."

Andrew made a brief outline of the map in the air using black magic.

The map was modeled after a closed factory area on the outskirts of this place.

"This factory is their hideout, you just have to go to the front door with the guys over there and get their attention."

"Then what about you, Sir.Andrew?"

"I will go through the back door along with these guys and hit the enemy from the back. It's a two-way operation. The wizards will definitely watch the situation and will try to retreat, so we'll wait in the back and make a surprise attack. If we pour out all of our firepowers at the same time, the wizards will die for sure."

In other words, Andrew was in charge of the most troublesome wizards.

All of the junior disciples pretended not to be happy, but their faces brightened.

If they were to fight against the wizards with the help of Andrew, they thought their chances of surviving would increase dramatically.

Andrew asked as if he knew what was going on in their minds.

"Yeah, are you okay now?"

"Ah, yes, yes."

"Still, I can't just let you go yet. I'll send this guy along with you. Think of him as me and listen to everything he says carefully."

Andrew said while pointing to a fellow senior disciple standing next to him.

Everyone answered at the same time.

"Yes!"

When Senior Disciple 1 was about to move with the junior disciples, Andrew suddenly grabbed Oliver's shoulder.

"You're coming with me."

"What?"

Peter asked in surprise.

"Why?"

"I gave you part of my strength. So it is natural for you to give me one of your strengths. And it's this guy that's most useful. What? Do you have some problems with it?"

Peter didn't say anything.

There were some things that didn't add up, but Andrew's eyes were terrifying.

Andrew asked Oliver.

"Why? don't you want to follow me?"

"…No, if it's Sir's command. I will follow"

"Okay… Then you guys go over there. Once you guys enter, we'll go too. Come on, move it."

The number of people in the main gate group was approximately thirty.

Most of them were armed with guns, knives, and sticks.

Objectively, the firepower wasn't strong, but that doesn't mean they aren't talented.

For example, the black magic that the Anthony family is preparing now was something like that – A magic that wasn't strong but that doesn't mean it isn't useful.

Anthony family brought three skinny dogs from somewhere, took the emotions out of the test tube, and casted a black magic spell.

[Fighting Spirit]

[Obedience]

Then the dogs, which had been starving for days, began to growl in anger, and at the same time, like a trained dog, they began to obey human commands.

Andrew, who was watching this scene from afar, muttered as if he knew everything.

"[Fighting Spirit] is to bring out the rage of the target, and [Obedience] is a kind of spiritual domination that makes them obey. This way, even an ordinary dog can be used as a good weapon…"

Everyone nodded as if they understood what he was saying.

Oliver was one of them, but after a while, a more interesting scene unfolded.

The warlock on Dominic's side, dressed in leather overall, was casting black magic on Anthony's dog again.

[Lifron]

[Muscle Up]

With that, the dog began to roar loudly.

The body seemed to swell like a bread dough, the hair fell out and the red skin underneath expanded rapidly.

No, it wasn't the skin. It was the muscles and bones which grew so fast.

The neck suddenly finished expanding and the dog changed into another creature that resembles a dog, and the casters of the black magic smiled in satisfaction as if they had achieved their goal.

Oliver looked at the scene with great interest.

It was amazing that one can use black magic in many ways, not limiting it by just shooting it.

It was very interesting to create a greater synergy with the superposition effect.

However, it was disappointing that they did it in such a way that the subject would be ruined afterward due to the side effects.

Oliver thought he would have improved it and wondered why the other warlocks are not doing it.

The leader of the main gate group waved his hand and announced that he would enter.

Andrew nodded and was preparing to break through the back door.

TAK TAK TAK

The main gate group headed to the main gate of the factory along the alley.

After a while, a blue flash of light could be seen along with a squeaking sound, followed by screams and gunshots.

Andrew watched the scene for a moment and then slowly started moving while saying.

"Now that the meat shield has gone over there, shall we make a move?"
