Chapter 1 - 1: Dreams and Desires

KAIZYLE lay down across a large pillow and moaned, she was so wet. Her whole body was vibrating, Yes! That was the perfect angle, he was giving her what she needed. Suddenly he stopped...

"Why did you stop?" She asked.

Opening her eyes, she realized that what she had been experiencing was simply a dream. She had to wake up!

She knew that she only had three more days -- of which today was one -- before her carriage would arrive to take her to the boarding school.

She had been waiting for a long time. "Ah!" she exclaimed pushing her blanket back carefully so that it wouldn't pool on the floor.

Despite having numerous servants, Kaizyle was still a very considerate girl - her old nanny used to say it was due to her mother's gentle blood mixing with her father's godly blood that produced her.

"Kaizyle! Are you going to answer?"

She turned as she heard her name and realized she was lost in her thoughts, she saw her old nanny standing with her hand on the door and a frown on her face.

She smiled serenely at her and asked " Titi when did you come in? I didn't hear you"

Titi's frown deepened as she looked at Kaizyle curiously. "Are you alright?" she asked, coming closer and placing her hands on Kaizyle's cheek. "You seem to be getting lost in your thoughts more often these days," she said with a hint of concern in her voice.

She really didn't know that she had been making her Titi worried. "Titi, I'm just excited," she reassured her.

Her Titi was the mother she knew and accepted, and most of the time she worries herself over the silliest of things.

To her parents, Kaizyle was an afterthought; their love for one another was paramount, even above the life and wellbeing of their only child. She wished she could forget her past, her parents, but often found herself thinking of them. "Please, not now," she thought.

She was determined to focus instead on the bright future that lay ahead.

She turned and looked at the woman whom she had adopted as her mother, the only source of sweetness in her past and present, and said, "Titi, my one and only. Don't worry about me. I'm fine. What was it you asked?"

"If you're feeling alright then I won't worry anymore. I was just wondering when you'd be available for your dress fitting. You might have forgotten we were meeting Mrs. Abiole today." Titi said.

"Oh no!" She exclaimed, having totally forgotten her appointment with the city dressmaker. "I'll be ready Titi in just a few minutes," she said.

Her Titi kissed her head and said " I know, my precious, that you must have forgotten, see you in a few minutes then" she smiled and then left.

Kaizyle has been yearning for a taste of a regular life. She was fed up with envisioning and fantasizing about the outside world. This was the issue with forbidding things; it only creates a longing in one's heart.

She was still incredibly angry with her parents. She remembered how she had pleaded and begged for this opportunity, yet they had chosen to lock her in a beautiful cage-- one that they could come and visit at their leisure, after travelling for months on end.

They told her, "This will teach you a lesson. Perhaps you will come to appreciate all the protection we are providing for you; you will regret this decision."

Kaizyle couldn't help but laugh in her heart with pleasure. They didn't really know her, she saw herself as a woman rather than a prized possession to another human. Ever since she was a child, she dreamt of exploring the many unique possibilities that the universe and technology could offer. She wanted the same kind of freedom and adventure that her parents had, to be able to travel and live life to the fullest.

Before embarking on her journey, she needed to learn the fundamentals of life and the essential skills. Starting at the academy was the best way to make her dreams come true.

She was jolted out of her daydreams, when she heard the knock on her door. She quickly changed into her clothes and departed her room without hesitation.
