Chapter 12 - Assault *updated*

[Realm Announcement: The realm has been invaded by the Gaul civilization]

[Prepare to defend rewards will be given to the highest contributing Crowns]

[Along with defending there will be bonus rewards to Crowns that take out the outpost bases]

[Did everyone see the message]

[Yeah, I saw it]

[It was a realm announcement you illiterate fuck, read just a bit]

[I was just checking you fuck]

[well maybe you should have checked the announcement again before you asked bithc]

[I didn't just see it, I saw an outpost being made]

[You did! is there any information you can give for us to survive better]

[What was it like]

[Structures? Defenses? What did they even look like.]

[Yeah stay the hell away, I have a information talent where I can see the tier and level and the weakest are tier 9 level 9 while the strongest are tier 8 level 2]

[And to address the others, it seems like the structures were just being built so I can't really know what they are but for looks they just seemed like giant bugs.]

[Well that's useful]

[What does tier 9 and level 9 even mean]

[I don't know ask someone else]

[Did I ask for you I asked for someone with actual experience]

[Really that powerful!! How powerful is that?]

[Can anyone put context to that]

[Darwin or Aoif might be able to they were able to take out aether enhanced creatures which are at least mid tier 9]

[@Darwin @Aoif can you help us. Please we need to know]

[You have been mentioned in a discussion would you like to reply]

"Hm…" I hummed out loud, startling Tama who had fallen into a trance like state as she hugged me into her chest.

Scrolling through the thousands of messages took a while but eventually I found where I had been mentioned.

It was some sort of discussion about the invasion that we were currently dealing with.

Honestly they had more information than I had but still I could probably help them a bit. Even if the advice amounted to nothing more than to hide if you couldn't defeat them.

And that is exactly what I said, to just hide and make sure that they had enough food while I exterminated them.

It was a big claim but it was doable with the information I had. Most were saying that they were around the tier 8 or 9 which compared to the tier 4 Tama that I had there was no way that they could be anything but a pest to be exterminated.

Though it was worrying that most wouldn't be able to defend against this invasion. For all we knew we could be the last bastion of humanity.

These hundred thousand people that were in this chat could be all we have and if that was true then I wanted to protect them, to make sure that we don't go extinct

It was with those thoughts that I finally made a message before sending it.

Darwin: [You all are going to wait, dig a hole, hide in a cave, I don't care but you all might be the last of humanity so wait while I exterminate them.]

[Thank you Darwin I'll just dig a hole until you can confirm their strength]

[Did anyone else notice how Darwin's name was sent on the chat while ours always appear blank, any theories]

Aoif: [@Darwin, your soul shines so bright, an alliance would do us good. Message me when we can meet up]

[Well seeing that Aiof name appeared while ours didn't it must be that you need sufficient fame to appear with a tag in chat]

[I guess or it could just be fuckin favoritism, I mean they obviously got good talents or initial summons what else could it be but favoritism from the system]

[No one else creeped out about that soul thing Aoif said.]

[not to mention the stalkerish sound of that.]

[would…]

[would]

The rest of the messages were just incomprehensible, mixes of both references and outright hostile behavior. It's not that I hated that they were saying that, no, in fact I didn't care at all just that it was not relevant to me.

I looked up to where Tama was holding me and pushed myself out of her grip.

She made a token attempt at resistance, at trying to keep me but that was all it was. A token attempt.

Once I had freed myself from her grip I sat opposite of her, or at least as best as I could in the bed that we sat on.

"Tama"

"Yes" she responded, her head doing this cute tilt as she looked at me with worshiping eyes.

"Can you send one of your subordinates to find one of these outposts and report back. I want to know the strength and amount that we will be dealing with."

Tama nodded before standing up and turning towards the door. However before she went she had a question. One she voiced as she was halfway through thre doorway.

"Why not just send me? I could do just as good as them, My Lord."

"I-" I begin before stopping, why didn't I just send Tama, obviously she would be able to do it much faster than her own subordinates and there was something to say about quality.

However it was after a second of thought that it dawned on me.

"I want to spend time with you." I smiled while delivering the sentence.

"Ah…" she stumbled in her step. "I'd like that too…"

It took but a moment for Tama to leave and come back, her legs swinging off of the bed as she looked towards me.

I just smiled at that, glad to be in her company.

It was interrupted by a pain in my stomach, a signal to my need for food.

"Hungry?" She asked, a slight smirk hiding behind the sleeve of her arm.

"Yeah" I responded with a roll of my eyes and Tama left, a giggle in her lips as she went to grab the food.

I sat in the bed, my eyes glazing over as I waited, trying to rid myself of the thought of hunger but it always came back to that.

Especially with the open window, the one that was currently catching the scent of cooked meat. My gaze shifted from the window to the ceiling as I heard the telltale footsteps of Tama, it seemed that she was finally done cooking.

[Random Kitsune]

For me, and for the rest of my brethren, it was an honor to be commanded. Especially by the strongest among us, that being Tama. However this task just seemed below me.

To scout and test the strength of this new civilization that had to lower itself to conquering such a newly made realm.

There was no doubt in my mind that they were just a low level crown, one that hadn't even made it to the upper echelons of the realm war. Unlike our grand race, us who had conquered so much that we had to be taken down by the greatest civilization.

It was why we could even be summoned but that was beside the point, we were a great civilization but for me to have to scout this civilization was a travesty for my pride. It would have been worth it if I was to at least scout the capital of their territory but for me to only be scouting their advance forces.

It was insulting. But even though I didn't want to lower myself to do something so trivial I still did it.

With a raise of my nose I sniffed out the scent of foreign invaders. It wasn't hard, I had noticed them earlier but had ignored them. They were of no threat to us though they could do damage to the lord but that was only if they got past all of us and the relentless protection of the Mistress.

'Heh' I laughed in my head, with the mistress' protection alone they wouldn't be able to even get a step in before they died. Especially after she had evolved under the Lord's talent.

My nose picked something up and I dashed toward it, avoiding all of the obstacles in my way and making my way towards the unknown.

It took barely any time but I was there. It was a quant clearing m, beautiful in its nature except for the blight that was the unknown invader.

If I had to give it a descriptor it would be ugly, a horrendous abomination that should have been erased from nature yet endured.

It was at the very least seven or so feet tall with chitinous rust colored armor surrounding its frame. It was like an ant that stood upright except the abdomen was connected by threads.

Other than that it had a standard insect like head with antennas that reached out and clicked looking around for any disturbances.

The one that I was observing seemed to be the designated lookout.

However it would not find me, even if I was not a specialist in the illusions. I was a kitsune, it was expected that I would master it to a certain degree.

It was that mastery that allowed me to make it believe that there were no disturbances with a snort of my nose.

It was only about an hour or two later that I actually moved. I could have gone sooner but I wanted to nap.

The evening sun along with the night enabled my lazy side and I was sure that Tama would think I was just being extra diligent to please our shared lord.

I yawned, my maw showing its teeth as I picked my body up and walked towards the camp.

Despite my proximity none of them noticed me. Typical for idiots of this kind.

Further and further I went in. All the while I noticed some interesting facts that I hadn't noticed in first glance.

The most important of which being that they were a hive mind. It made sense given their insectile nature however it called up the question of why they weren't higher up in the war.

A general rule was that the hive minded species could either be the most dangerous or the most incompetent. It all depended on the intelligence of the queen or king.

Though it seemed that this king or queen was incredibly stupid given what I had seen.

Like seriously, allowing for one of the receivers, the queen to be so close to the ground.

It was an idiotic move, one that even newbies would avoid doing. One well placed blow and the whole unit they sent would crumble on their feet.

However I couldn't leave just now. I still needed a bit more information such as the combat power of the queen and the others. The time in which the hive mind collapses and various other boring things.

It was why I threw a relatively weak ball of fire at one of the workers.

"What?" I questioned out loud, the ball of fire that I had sent wasn't particularly powerful. It was barely enough to scratch their armor from my estimates but they were much weaker than they seemed.

To be taken out by something so weak.

"Pathetic"

...

[What there are rankings for this, what is this a game event]

[Have we been seeing the same things? Does this whole situation not look like a game to you]

[Yeah it does it was sarcasm in case your inbred brain couldn't handle that]

[If there are rankings that means there are prizes, does anyone know what they are?]

[I don't know, I assume that like an event when this ends the first to tenth will get something we should just ask them]

[yeah like they'd actually respond]

[idiot]

[people aren't as kind as you see them]

[what are you a noble, oh god you actually might be one of those noble bastsrds]

I watched as the worker fell to the ground, the charred corpse had stood for a second but now it just fell apart like a puppet with its string cut.

I just sat there, flicking dirt randomly while I waited for the queen to respond to my provocation.

It wasn't long before my challenge was answered. Barely even enough time to close my eyes and rest them.

I looked up to the queen that looked above me. She looked almost exactly the same except for some differentiating factors.

There were the longer antennas, the slightly smaller frame, the thicker armor.

They were all subtle, something that I wouldn't have gathered to notice before but because of this mission I was sort of forced to.

Behind her were another two dozen of the same kind that I just killed.

I could sense her nervousness, a vulpine grin finding its way into my maw.

It smelt delicious, enough that I got off of my haunches and dashed towards them.

Before any of them could even react to my disappearance I had killed every single one of the backup that she had taken with her.

At this point the smell of fear was overwhelming.

'Ah… so good'

It smelt amazing, I couldn't help but bask in it for a bit while she cowered around.

However I should finish this up. With a dissatisfied glare I jumped forward.

[It hasn't even been 10 minutes but he already killed a Queen I didn't even know existed.]

[I know right, what kind of cheat does he have to be able to do this]

[Maybe they are just weak?]

[Definitely not I tried to kill one but my aether enhanced crocodile was almost killed forcing us to retreat]

[That difficult, and it's only the second day that's not enough time for us to develop]

[Well technically it's the third day it just crossed midnight]

[How do you know that smartass]

[Ahh… It's kind of embarrassing but I gained a talent where I can tell the exact time]

[That's hilarious a time telling Talent]

[Hey at least I have a talent unlike the majority of you guys.]
