Chapter 19 - Chapter Nineteen

"Psychotic computer bitch," the man who set the bar on fire says. His name is Markus Weithers, he is a recruit. I notice my partner taking cover, so I follow him taking cover by a chair. I hear his footsteps come closer to us. He begins to swing at us with his hands. He then from his big puffy jacket pulls out some kind of automatic gun.

"Get down! Now!" Jamal yells getting shot at in the process. He falls back so I steady my gun.

I fell on one knee, drawing the automatic colt pistol that my dad gave me. The knurled grip felt at home in my palm, the trigger biting into the calloused pad of my first finger. It felt all too comfortable in my palm for me, but I couldn't wait to feel that ear-shattering roar as the .45 ACP bullet snickered through the air and into his flesh. I rolled aside as his leg swept out to catch me, I fire two shots upwards into his groin and abdomen, and his protective and super demeaning attitude is ripped away in seconds. The only one that hits him is the one in the groin. He drops his gun in the process of me shooting his nuts off. He holds it and falls to the ground. I am stunned by everything that just happened, but that bastard almost killed me twice.

"You bastard, you do not mess with a girl with a gun. Especially ones you double-crossed more than once." I grab his gun and hold it up to his head. He smells like beer and vomits and I think the pants he is in have been pissed in along with the blood spewing out of him.

"You will tell me who the third guy who now runs with you now?" He looks at me with his steel-blue eyes as I ask this question. Blood runs down his inner lip as he speaks. I made sure to shoot him, where it won't kill. I shot him in the groin because he may protect the leader but he never uses protection when it comes to women. He has nine kids, no real job, and child support checks are racking up. I am saving another girl from that dangerous fate.

Jamal approaches me and says, "that's enough."

His elbow was only grazed by the bullet but he fell as if he had been shot and was bleeding out. Knowing he was okay is what pushed me harder.

"I will call an ambulance. You saved our asses." He says, and I can't believe my thoughts were filled with killing a man. Backing away from the man in fear of myself. He isn't bleeding too bad, he is just laughing. A maniacal laugh explodes out of him as he looks at me. Not everyone speaks the language of silence. But that is all I can give him as his ear-shrieking laughter fills the room.

"We were told you were weak and couldn't shoot. More lies from the boss himself." He coughs a loud cough and lays there running his mouth.

"Beasts live in this Area, Sam was attacked by a werewolf. I saw it with my own eyes. The beast walked in on two legs and ran out on four." He says, eyes full of fear. This man is going through a psychotic breakdown or something. He is spitting out more than blood, his words are complete madness.

"The man was no man. Dogface. He has a dog face." He cries, screaming even louder to where his face turns red.

The ambulance shows up and so does a squad car. The ambulance takes Markus and Jamal and I get in the back of a squad car. The team is on the other side of the country dealing with another homicide victim. Killed by the very devil himself. My Ex. So we have to cooperate with the local cops in the area. We can only give them basic information to make sure they are on a need-to-know basis. The officer takes my gun before I get into his car. He looks me up and down.

"How did a pretty little thing like you end up in a situation like this?" The officer asks as he pats me down, making sure to touch areas I would rather not have. When he gets to my back pocket he pinches my left butt cheek and I elbow him in the face. He then throws me in the back of the car.

"Sorry." I apologize because in reality there is no way I am getting put in jail for defending myself from him. That is when I notice his body cam and I will be reporting him to his supervisor.

The car ride to the station is silent; the only sounds are randomly coming from the radio.

"Mansfield we have 242 happening in one of the apartment buildings downtown." Someone randomly chimes into the radio with a smooth tone.

"Oooh assault. I wonder what happened?" I say aloud not realizing the look he would give me, especially the officer on duty. He looks at me like I am crazy.

"You know our codes?" He asks, looking at me with a new approach. I can tell this man is going to ask a lot from me. He doesn't seem very professional.

"The name's Sebastian." He says and deja vu hits coats my brain, but I shake it off. Where have I heard that name? I ask myself.

He continues to drive, taking a different route than the ambulance meaning he is taking me to jail. I loosen my vest. He looks back at me and then pulls into an empty lot. He stops, looks at me, and then realizes he is on duty so he gets back on the road.

"Too too bad." He whispers to himself and I feel uncomfortable.

"Let me know if you ever want to wear cuffs." As he says this bile rises and I almost barf in his back seat.

"You will get questioned by me when we get in there. You have the right to an attorney. If you can not afford the attorney one can be provided for you." He explains as we pull into the station.

He grabs me out of the car and cuffs me a little too tight. He walks me to the back and into a gray room that only has a black metal table and two folding chairs.

"Sit, I will be back in a second." I sit down knowing damn well I don't have to say anything.

Sitting still I observe the room, it has dark walls and glass that you can see into the room.

A dreadful room one that could trap a person.
