“Goddess!” Aunt Maurice exclaimed as she helped me put some makeup on. I sat in front of her vanity, my reflection staring back at me. “You look beautiful.”
I smiled, pleased and grateful for the outcome. Aunt Maurice put aside the mascara she was still holding onto and leaned down.
“I don’t know about anyone else, but you look more like the bride than that snobby stepsister of yours.”
Her comment granted a snort to come out from my lips.
“Come to think of it, if you didn’t go missing, you are supposed to be the bride.” Aunt Maurice squeezed my shoulders. “Alpha Matteo is quite a catch. But you know what they say, there are more fish in the sea. In our case, there are more sexy wolves in the pack!”
I joined Aunt Maurice in her oblivious merriment. My stomach churned at the idea of having to watch the father of my child get married to the stepsister who had hated me since day one.
