Leila’s POV
I took a deep breath, trying to calm my erratic heartbeat. The world felt like it was spinning beneath me. But that was to be expected.
I only had a month to prepare before our wedding, and I had a lot of things to take care of. Alpha Matteo had invested in my restaurant, and as of this date, we were the most popular chicken restaurant in Red Light District.
It made me chuckle and also grimace. No matter how much I insisted he didn’t need to do it, he was stubborn enough to refuse me.
But at the same time, I found it sweet. He was still his usual arrogant self sometimes, but I only saw him act like that in front of the stubborn wolves that still opposed him.
It was a responsibility an Alpha must courageously face. I helped him from time to time, befriending some and scolding a few rebellious ones like they were my children. It was easy for me to see myself in their shoes. I had been there.
I wasn’t too sure I was making any difference, but I hope I was.
