The birds chirped from the distance, singing their song to the people, while the trees swayed in the direction of the warm breeze that blew past.
It was a beautiful day, with autumn fast approaching. However, the whispers that echoed from the hushed conversations among the council of elders made it difficult to appreciate the pleasant weather.
I clenched my hands, balling them into fists as the surge of anger became too overwhelming. A firm tap on my shoulders broke the building tension in my body.
Gritting my teeth, I fought not to glare at Rafa. He knew me well enough to analyze what was running through my mind.
Oliver wasn't here. He would have diffused my seething fury the minute it reached a boiling point.
But that was the reason I forbade him to come with me. I had no intention of holding back.
