"I missed you little sis," he says.
"I missed you more BBX," I say.
We sit down and I ask the chef to bring us some wine and prepare dinner for us.
"How is mother?" I ask.
He sighs and replies, "She's now better. She went through surgery".
Mother was diagnosed with lung cancer two years ago and we have been doing our best to make her recover. I was glad she's getting better. I don't know what I would do without her. If it wasn't for her back then, I wouldn't be where I am today.
"I'm glad she's okay," I say taking a sip of the red wine that had been poured in my glass.
"Yeah," he pauses, "What's with the news I'm hearing?" he asks.
"What news?" I ask confused.
"Your interview with FD Industry," he says.
"Oh, that," I whisper, "Don't believe them. He was bluffing," I tell him.
"Really?" he raises an eyebrow as he looked at me in doubt.
"Brother, you know how he is. Always wanting to cause trouble for me. I would never like him. He's just a rival," I inform him.
"Is that so? That's how it all starts," he says drinking his wine and pouring himself another glass.
"When what starts? Nothing like that will ever happen. I will never date a vampire like him," I say.
He hums in reply.
"What about you brother? Found anyone yet?" I ask sarcastically.
He chokes on his drink and spits it back in his cup. I laugh as he looks at me. "I..no..I mean," he sighs, "Okay, just don't tell mom," he looks at me as if he was being tortured.
"Why?" I ask.
"You know how mom is," he says, "She will bother me in marriage and kids and Urg I can't handle all that pressure. I need to focus on my business for now".
"But brother, you are almost 27. Don't you think you should decide to marry now," I protest.
"It's easy for you to say Little Jade. Marriage is not something easy," he says.
"How?" I ask.
"You'll know when you're older," he says patting the top of my head.
"But brother Xavier, I'm almost 22," I complain.
"I know," he says standing up, "I need to go back Little Jade. I just came to check on you because of the news," he says.
"They are fake rumors and you're not staying a little longer?" I say looking sad.
"Awww, I wish I could, but I have work. I have a meeting in an hour," he informs me.
I pout my lips and whisper, "When has work replaced me?".
He chuckles and puts his arm over my shoulder pulling me for a side hug. We walk to the door. "No one will ever replace my Little Jade," he says hugging me. I hug him back with a smile on my face.
We say our goodbyes and I watch as he drives away. I enter the house and head straight to my room. I go take a shower and then I wear my pajamas. I take my phone and check my schedule for tomorrow. I have a photo shoot for the winter magazine and I have rehearsals with Ace back at the theater. I hope the news will have settled by tomorrow. I just don't want to draw a lot of attention tomorrow and to answer a lot of questions. Though I think the news has reached the paparazzi.
"Ace.." I whisper to myself, "Why do you do what you do".
I shake the thought of him out of my head and I go to sleep just to receive a call from dad. "Hello Dad," I say in a sleepy tone.
"Hello to you too Jade. I just saw the news. Is it true?" I could hear anger in his tone.
"Dad, you know very well that I don't like guys like him. Like look at him. He's not my type. He just wants to cause trouble for me," I tell him.
"Are you sure Jade?" he asks with concern.
"Yes dad," I answer, "I need to rest now dad. I've got a tight schedule tomorrow. Greet mom for me," I tell him.
"Okay. Good night dear," he says, "Make sure to visit when you're free".
"Okay dad, good night," I say and disconnect the call.
I shut my eyes and drift to sleep.
