Chapter 50 - Chapter-49 Demonic Ascent

Under the moonlit sky, outside the shattered window of the broker's office, Daemon clung to the side of the building walls and glass, his leech-like claws digging into the smooth surface for traction, there was constant wind whipped around him as he slowly ascended back up.

'Ah, I don't know if I would've survived that fall if it weren't for the Tenebris Lacerna saving me,' Daemon thought.

As he climbed back towards the broker's office, he noticed a shadow looming above him, when he looked up, he saw the Broker peering down at him. "You're really persistent," he remarked with a slight smirk.

'Dammit... I need a better environment,' Daemon thought, scanning his surroundings. Then he had an idea struck him as he looked straight up.

Daemon maneuvered to the side, climbing higher past the broken window, the Broker's eyes narrowed with malice as Daemon ascended, he wasn't expecting Daemon to flee. When Daemon reached a high enough point passed the broker, he glanced down and was surprised to see the Broker also climbing up behind him, using the structure's edges with his powerful grips.

"Where are you going? Don't tell me you're running away now," the Broker taunted from below.

While glancing back Daemon continued to climb at the same time he, watched the Broker charging upwards with predatory intent. The Broker's powerful hands gripped the building's ledges, quickly closing the distance at a surprising speed, that he swung at Daemon with a powerful punch, but Daemon narrowly dodged by twisting his body to the side. The force of the blow shattered a nearby pane of glass, sending shards cascading down to the street below, where onlookers were witnessing the chaotic scene questioning what was happening.

'Adriana should be down there... Looks like she brought the entire precinct,' Daemon thought, noting the flashing police lights below.

As debris fell onto his face, jolting him from his thoughts, Daemon looked up to see the Broker above him glaring down at him.

'What the hell just happened?' Daemon thought, taken aback by the sudden change. He noticed now that the Broker's hands were adorned with sharp claws, extended like a wolf's on the walls.

What Daemon didn't noticed that was the Broker lunged forward using his claws to launch himself over him, quickly reversing his position, he began climbing downward towards Daemon as the broker claws scraped against the glass as he retaliated with a swift upward slash aimed at the Broker's midsection. The Broker blocked with his forearm, the impact reverberating through the glass. Daemon capitalized on the momentum, kicking off the building to swing around the Broker and land a solid strike to his back.

But the Broker was swift to react, swiftly turning and delivering a heavy punch. Daemon caught the blow with both hands, the force pushing him back against the glass, now Daemon is Tenebris Lacerna manifested into two short daggers, its blade slamming into the building to help steady him, despite Broker's overwhelming strength, Daemon's agility still kept him in the fight. Rolling to the side, he used his claws to regain his grip on the building.

Now that he Managed to evade the Broker, Daemon continued climbing higher. However, the Broker wasn't done yet; he grabbed Daemon's ankle, attempting to yank him off the building, Daemon reacted swiftly, Daemon slashed at the Broker's arm with his claws. The Broker released his grip, but not before twisting his body because of his claws and delivering a powerful kick that sent Daemon swinging outward dangerously.

Daemon's heart raced as he hung perilously on the edge, extending his claws, he embedded them into the glass, pulling himself back towards safety, meanwhile, the Broker, thinking he had Daemon at his mercy, lunged forward. But Daemon anticipated the move, rotating his body to dodge and countering with a claw strike to the Broker's side, though it didn't seem to faze him much.

That the Broker swiftly closed the distance again. Daemon attempted to defend himself, but the Broker's stamina seemed limitless, in a sudden move, the Broker smashed Daemon's head against the glass, leaving him momentarily dazed, however, Daemon refused to let go, gripping the building wall and glass.

The Broker laughed arrogantly, preparing for a final blow. However, fueled by sheer willpower, Daemon kicked off the building, using the recoil of his Tenebris Lacerna to deliver a powerful double kick to the Broker's chest. The Broker stumbled but managed to grab Daemon by the collar, slamming him back into the glass, cracks spread from the impact, and the building trembled under the strain. When the broker was about climb up, Daemon summoned the last of his strength, breaking free and delivering a devastating elbow to the Broker's face.

Seizing the opportunity, the Broker wound up for another punch anticipating the move, Daemon ducked, grabbed the Broker's arm, and swung him over his shoulder, he Broker's eyes widened in shock as he lost balance, his fingers scrambling for a hold that wasn't there.

Daemon watched as the Broker plummeted down the side of the building, a loud roar echoing through the night, breathing heavily, Daemon regained his composure and resumed his ascent.

'Will that kill him... I'm not sure. He's definitely not human,' Daemon thought, as he continued climbing towards the top of the building.

Daemon, having arrived at the building rooftop he rolled onto the ground and caught his breath. As he looked up at the sky, suddenly, a flash of lightning split the sky, illuminating the clouds in stark, white brilliance, his eyes widened as he saw it high above, an ethereal shape began to form, unlike any lightning he had ever seen, it resembled a massive jellyfish, its tentacles of electrical discharge cascading down through sky.

He watched in awe as the jellyfish-like apparition hung in the sky for a fleeting moment. As quickly as it had appeared, the sprite faded, leaving behind only the memory of its beauty. Daemon let out a breath as he quickly stood up, looking over the edge, that when he saw the Broker quickly climbing back up; he wasn't surprised, as he had expected it.

Daemon watched as the Broker climbed the building and decided it was the perfect time to assess his situation.

'What the hell is a Trinfernus?' Daemon asked mentally.

'Trinfernus, A three-headed demon creature, a very powerful demon, Within Hell, the Trinfernus kind is mainly used to serve as a guardian to the most coveted treasures and secrets, protecting them from those who dare to challenge the infernal order. They are often stationed at the gates of powerful demon lords' fortresses and within the deepest vaults of Hell's archives, where the most dangerous and powerful artifacts are kept.'

'Ah that explains his resilience to physical damage, he's classified as a Level A threat. Still, he recently leveled up that's why I may be able to match him,' Daemon thought.

Daemon's thoughts were interrupted as he had to hop back when he saw the Broker lunging up, his claws poised to strike him but when he missed and landed the ground under his feet cracked.

The thought lingered in Daemon's mind a mix of caution and curiosity, he felt a rare flicker of excitement, it wasn't often he encountered someone who could push him to his limits.

"I've had enough of your games. Give me the information I need," Daemon demanded.

"Information? Oh, Daemon, you should know by now that everything comes at a price," the Broker replied.

"And I'm done paying your prices. I won't die until I get what I need from you," Daemon retorted.

"Alright then, let's start being serious," the Broker said.

"Let's see what you've got," Daemon muttered under his breath.

With a sudden burst of speed, Daemon lunged forward, his claws slashing through the rain-soaked air at the broker body, However, every time he struck the Broker remained still, absorbing the strikes without flinching. Daemon's claws met their mark repeatedly, but it was as if he were striking solid steel the Broker's flesh did not tear.

'His invulnerability to physical damage is impressive. What can I do?' Daemon thought.

"Is that all you've got?" The Broker taunted, his voice a low growl. With a sudden movement, his fist ignited with blue flames, unaffected by the rain, he slammed his fist into the rooftop ground. "Out from Hell!"

The ground beneath Daemon suddenly erupted, fire pillars shooting skyward despite the rain, the flames instantly engulfed Daemon, their heat intense enough to turn the water into steam. The surrounding air became like a cauldron, the temperature rising rapidly, lightning flashed again as the fire continued around Daemon's body.

Daemon gritted his teeth as he endured the searing flames as they burned away his skin and clothes. His Tenebris Lacerna struggled to protect him, as the Broker's hellfire overwhelmed its defenses.

He knew he had to endure, to find a way to counter this fire onslaught, as the fire pillars subsided, he emerged, scorched but still standing.

"Impressive," Daemon muttered, wiping sweat and soot from his brow, he leapt back, creating distance between himself and The Broker, who was already preparing his next move.

"Your still alive" The broker said.

The Broker's eyes glowed with a light as he summoned his next attack. "Cerberus Barrage!" he roared, at the same time he started spinning on his heel, he conjured his whole body into flames also there were three `heads of sharp hellhounds that lunged at Daemon with terrifying speed, the hellhounds snapped their jaws at him, he knew that each bite carrying the ferocity of a wild beast and the heat of a furnace.

Daemon barely managed to dodged between the attacks, his agility allowing him to narrowly avoid the deadly bites, however the hellhounds were relentless, their maws wanting to tear him apart. One managed to catch his arm, searing pain coursing through his veins as the hellfire burned deep.

"Enough!" Daemon roared, summoning every ounce of his strength. With a swift motion, he tore the hellhound's head from his arm, the hellfire dissipating, he needed to end this, and he needed to do it now.

Now with the broker returning to normal he and Daemon clashed again, each exchanging blows that echoed through the stormy night. Daemon's speed and strength were matched by the Broker's invulnerability and fire attacks, the ground shook with every impact.

Despite his best efforts, Daemon found himself being pushed back repeatedly, the Broker's unyielding defenses proving too much to penetrate, the Broker's smug grin widened as he sensed victory within his grasp. "You're finished, Mortis. You can't win."

Daemon's vision blurred with exhaustion, both from his body and the injuries inflicted, he felt his strength waning, his Nyx dwindling with each passing moment, but he refused to give up, he had one last move, one final gambit that could turn the tide.

Daemon extended his hands towards The Broker summoning his remaining Nyx. "Reaper's Grasp!" he shouted.

Suddenly, large reaper skeletal claws erupted from the ground, its bony fingers reaching out and grasping The Broker as his eyes widened in shock as the claws latched onto him, its grip bypassing his physical invulnerability and targeting his very soul, he struggled against the reaper grip, but it was too late. The claws tightened, slowly draining his energy and breaking his concentration.

"No! This can't be!" The Broker screamed, his voice filled with desperation. He fought to free himself, but the reaper claws held firm.

Daemon staggered forward, his breath ragged, he focused on maintaining the Reaper's Grasp slowly he could feel The Broker's strength ebbing away, his invulnerability faltering.

With a final, defiant roar, Daemon pulled his hands back, the reaper claws dragging The Broker to his knees, during their clash , they had damaged a large electrical line, which Daemon took and quickly wrapped around the Broker, binding him to a nearby pole.

Breathing heavily, Daemon looked down at The Broker. "You underestimated me," he said quietly.

The Broker could only glare up at him, his eyes filled with a mix of anger and defeat. "This isn't over," he rasped, his voice weak.

Daemon leaned in close his eyes cold boring into the brokers. "It will be once you tell me everything." he said.
