Outside the village there was a woman sneaking around it was Detective Adriana was trailing a man who seemed suspicious like a cartel member. She kept her distance, following him as he entered a nearby house. From her vantage point, she saw through the shadowy windows that the man and a woman inside appeared to know each other.
Suddenly, the man covered the woman's mouth and injected her with something. After a few seconds, fell down like she passed out, then after a couple moment the man was outside carrying the woman out of the house on his back.
'So, it really is the Iron Chain Cartel doing the kidnappings,' Adriana thought, her suspicion confirmed. "With how many villagers have been kidnapped so far, they might have already been shipped to the city. However, the city is far away, so it's probably decided its better to kidnap a certain amount before shipping."
Crouching outside the house, Adriana watched as the man carried the woman. She stood up and silently followed him, noticing also the unconscious and bound woman couldn't escape on her own as she was unconscious.
As they moved through a nearby alleyway, the man suddenly stopped and dropped the woman on the ground.
'What are you doing... hurry and show me where your base is,' Adriana thought, hiding back behind a wall.
The man looked down at the woman with a glint in his eyes, licking his lips. He crouched down and began undressing her.
Adriana's face darkened. 'Is that what I think he's about to do?' she thought disgusted.
Determined to stop him, Adriana moved closer, her footsteps light on the ground. As she approached, the man suddenly sensed her presence. He turned with a pistol in his hand, but Adriana was quicker she already had her pistol drawn and fired hitting his hand.
"Ahh!" the man screamed in pain, his pistol dropping to the ground as his hand was destroyed. Despite the injury, he managed to fire a shot into the ground, causing a loud noise, while Adriana's pistol was fitted with a silencer so hers wasn't heard but his shot.
"Stop! Don't move," Adriana commanded, her voice low but firm.
The man still screaming in pain as he tried to get up and run.
"Don't move!" Adriana repeated, this time louder.
Adriana gripped her personal pistol with both hands, a Voss Precision Mark X (VPM-X), a matte black and silver state-of-the-art semi-automatic tactical pistol. The high-strength, lightweight titanium alloy frame gave it a sleek, non-reflective appearance, it was reward to her for her accomplishments in the passed three years.
She fired another shot, hitting the man's leg and causing him to drop to the ground, screaming in pain. He tried to crawl away but couldn't move fast. Adriana approached, kicking his pistol away.
"You shot me twice!" the man screamed up at her.
Adriana flashed her badge in his face. "You're lucky I didn't kill you for aiming a gun at me," she said coldly.
She quickly cuffed the man and knocked him out, knowing she needed to find the cartel's base quickly before more members arrived cause they will be now alerted by the gunshot.
Looking at the unconscious woman and the restrained man, Adriana thought, 'Cartel members never touch the victims... was this man acting alone, planning to rp her instead of sending her back?'
Adriana shook her head she couldn't think of what will happen if she didn't find the man suspicious after a moment then she contacted her partner Adrian over her phone. "I got an unconscious cartel member and a victim also I'm heading toward the cartel hideout," she said.
"What? Adriana, wait for me!" Adrian's voice came through the phone, but then he heard a beep as Adriana hung up.
Adriana paused, her mind racing, she knew she should wait for backup, but the cartel would come to the village in response to the gunshot, thinking they were found out. If she waited, innocent people might get caught in the crossfire and the cartel might even relocate before she could pinpoint their base.
She couldn't risk it. Am I being reckless? Should I wait for backup?, No. There's no time to waste. The cartel will strike if they sense danger. I have to act fast.
"I'm sorry, Adrian. I can't wait. They'll come to the village if they think we're onto them," she said, hanging up before he could protest further.
"Damn it," Adrian muttered, taking a deep breath and looking at his phone before making a call. "D," he said only saying that one letter.
Then after her call with her partner Adriana dashed out of the village and into the forest while moving swiftly as she searched for the cartel's hideout. She passed by an old house, sh thought nothing of it and continued her search.
Adriana stopped and looked around. "I saw where he was coming from before... I just have to find the exact spot," she muttered.
She continued searching for another couple of minutes. With her speed and stamina, it was easy to search the small area. Suddenly, she stopped in front of the old house again.
"I feel like there's something off with this house... I remember it being searched, but maybe a double-check will help, especially since I didn't see anything else around also It was searched by officers not by me," Adriana said to herself.
Adriana walked inside the house. It was two stories, so she moved around, checking each room. When she was about to leave, thinking she hadn't found anything, while stepping down the stair when she reach the bottom she stepped on a floorboard that sounded hollow.
She knocked her foot on the ground multiple times, and the hollow sound persisted. "It's hollow, there's nothing to cancel the sound... why would a house in a village need this unless there's a basement?" she wondered aloud.
Adriana crouched down and searched the ground for an opening. After a couple of moments, she felt her hand grip onto a wooden plank. Lifting it up, she found a handle that she pulled, revealing a stairway heading down. Is this the right move? Should I wait for backup, or should I press on alone? The cartel could be onto us by now, but rushing in without support could be a fatal mistake.
Her pulse quickened as she descended the stairs, her flashlight cutting through the darkness. The air grew cooler, and the smell of dampness filled her nostrils. What if I'm walking into a trap, blindly following a trail that leads to my own demise?
She reached the bottom and found herself in a dimly lit basement, filled with crates and various items that looked out of place for a typical village house.
She grips her pistol tightly, she knew she had the power to do so much more, to make a difference in the world, but with that power came the ever-present fear of failure, a fear that could consume her if she let her guard down for even a moment.
In the basement her eyes scanned the room for any movement, her heart beat slowly, as the the basement is like maze of dimly lit passageways, each turn potentially leading to danger.
As she moves deeper, she hears footsteps approaching then she pressed herself against a nearby wall, her pistol ready, she waited then after a couple moments a cartel member moved around the corner in front her and she shot with a swift precise shot to his head before he can raise his weapon.
While she had a built-in silencer her pistol's shot still echoes in the halls, drawing more cartel members. Adriana moves quickly, senses heightened, then she entered a larger room where several men are gathered. A shootout ensues bullets flying as she takes cover behind a stack of crates.
"She's here! Get her!" one cartel member shouts.
'They knew I was coming,' Adriana thinks, returning fire, taking out two cartel members. One by one, they fall, but more keep coming.
She pressed forward encountering a narrow hallway that leaded to multiple pathways, she knew that she must be close to the heart of the operation, then when she turned a corner a cartel member lunged at her with a knife.
Adriana reacted instantly, she blocked his attack with her forearm and disarmed him with a swift twist of her wrist, by using the butt of her pistol, she strike him across his temple instantly knocking him out cold.
Entering another room she was surrounded by multiple cartel members, they instantly closed on her they were confident in their number, she quickly engaged in close-quarters combat, her movements a blur of precision and power. She strikes used combined with fists, elbows, and knees, using her pistol as both a firearm and a blunt instrument.
Suddenly one cartel member grabbed her from behind, she stomped down on his foot and drove her elbow into his ribs, at the same time he loosens his grip on her she spun and delivered a powerful kick to his chest sending him crashing into a wall.
She turns just in time to shoot another cartel member that was aiming at her.
"You're dead, Adriana!" shouts one cartel member as he approaches.
She ducks under a wild swing and counters with a punch to the jaw, then shot another attacker's leg, incapacitating him, She slowly became covered in blood and sweat mix as she fights her way through the onslaught.
Pushing deeper into the hideout, she encounters a group of cartel members in a narrow hallway. They fire at her relentlessly, forcing her to dive behind a metal cabinet. Bullets ricochet off the walls, creating a deafening noise.
Adriana peeked out and fired back, her shots hitting their mark, at the same time she rolled out from behind the cabinet and advances, firing as she goes. One cartel member charges at her, attempting to tackle her to the ground. She sidesteps and uses his momentum against him, throwing him into the wall with a thud.
Another attacker swings a baton at her, she blocked it with her forearm and counters with a rapid series of punches to his midsection and face, as he stumbled back she finishes him off with a precise shot to his chest.
More cartel members pour in from adjacent rooms, trying to overwhelm her with their numbers. Adriana grabbed a metal pipe from the floor and uses it to deflect an incoming knife attack. She then swung it in a wide arc, striking two attackers at once. The sound of metal against bone is sickening, but she doesn't flinch.
"Give it up, Adriana! You're outnumbered!" one of the cartel members shouts.
Adriana doesn't respond, she was heavily focused on survival her eyes cold and determined. She disarmed another attacker with a swift kick to his wrist, then used her pistol to deliver a lethal shot. A large, muscular cartel member grabs her from behind, lifting her off the ground. She struggles, her feet kicking, but she maintains her composure.
With a sharp elbow to his face, she breaks free from his grip. As he reels back, she flips him over her shoulder with a judo throw, slamming him into the ground. Before he can recover, she delivers a knockout punch.
Breathing heavily, she continues forward, navigating the maze-like corridors. She entered a room filled with crates and makeshift beds, indicating it's a holding area for captives. She' was ambushed by two cartel members wielding machetes looking around the confined space it left little room for maneuvering.
She glances at her pistol, a display of a ammo counter on the side shows she finally out of rounds.
Then a group of heavily armed cartel members stormed into the room, their eyes narrowing at the sight of Adriana standing defiantly. "You're not leaving here alive," one of them snarls.
